We will continue to fight our right on that stage, because our bond is thicker than any debt this school board has. As an association, we fear will have longlasting, detrimental effects on our students and community. Matthew has been impacting the caribbean now for it feels like a week. Its been out there forever crossing over the island of hispaniola yesterday and impacting cuba as well. Its moving to the north at about 10 Miles Per Hour, so very slowmoving storm, very, very slow here. Maximum sustained wind is not slow. Its 125 Miles Per Hour. But it will take a northwesterly turn later today as it impacts the bahamas. So this is something to watch if you have interests south of virginia especially, because these are the areas we expect to be most impacted by Hurricane Matthew. A category 3 major hurricane will move over the bahamas today and still probably impacting the bahamas even through tomorrow into the end of the work week. We will likely see some restrengthening back to caty 4 strength, because the water down here is very, very warm. Like 84degree water temperatures, and these storms feed off of warm water. We do expect it to get a little bit stronger as it inches much more close to the peninsula of florida. Potentially a category 4 storm off the coast of florida, off the east coast by friday morning. This is really something to watch. There has been a little change east now, expecting a category 2 storm off the carolina coastline by sunday morning. Then curving back out to sea. The big question is, what happens after monday . Does it continue to go to the east, or does it drop back to the south . That is something we really, really need to watch. Either way, into the weekend, here are the impacts. Were thinking that from Virginia Beach south to miami potentially big, longerlasting Power Outages and coastal flooding and beach erosion could be huge issues here, especially if this storm impacts the carolinas. They voted last night to ask the state for an some more time making these tough decisions. 15 million budget deficit there. Parma schools are in a fiscal caution. They have to provide a written proposal to the Ohio Department of education on how theyre going to fix this deficit. Right now the plan being debated would merge students from three high schools into one single high school. Then two middle schools and eight elementary schools. It would cut programs like the arts, Computer Science for high positions like guidance counselors, literacy specialists, and home liaisons. Theyre eliminating the whole program, and thats 13 of us. We are worried about ourselves, but were more worried about who will take care of our children when were not there. These kids in our schools are our children. Death toll sadly expected to rise. Matthew is predicted to make an impact to florida sometime tomorrow and peek stocking up on emergency supplies like food, water and batteries. Four states have declared states of emergencies, and state leaders are preparing for the worst. If you dont get out in time, you might get stuck. This is a deadly storm approaching our state. I cannot express that enough. Tia whats frightening about this storm is matthew was has gone three days sustaining category 3 strength. That has only happened with 20 other storms. Lets go to sam roberts now with an update on when and where we think this thing is going next. Sam, this storm reaches three ohio. Thats massive. Samantha its a big storm. Not the biggest on record, but definitely a sizable storm impacting a lot of people yesterday. Haiti and cuba, and today into tomorrow the bahamas. Matthew is still a category 3 hurricane. It is still a major storm here moving to the north at 10 Miles Per Hour. So its trucking right towards the bahamas. Maximum sustained wind of 125 Miles Per Hour, so its pretty we do expect it to get stronger returning to category 4 strength sometime tomorrow. This is something to watch if you have any interests from Virginia Beach south to the outer banks down to the carolinas towards charleston or savannah.
