tailgating big time. this is cleveland. this is what we live for. i have my orange on in honor the browns. shelby miller is among the tailgaters she was out there talking with folks. shelby, this is your first tailgating experience. what do you think? >> reporter: the music is good at least, denise. that's one thing. can't help but dance out here today. aside from that, it is kind of empty. right now we will talk about the fun stuff, rules and regulations. them posted on the poles in the parking lot don't cross the shoreway, don't bring in alcohol. things like that. it is not keeping the few people here from having fun before the game. >> reporter: browns are back and so are the rules. twenty-five dollars gets you in the muni lot and that's what you are paying per spot. signs are posted to remind them of regulations. no charcoal grills, only propane, no public intoxication and no fire pits. season regularrers have not had issues with the rules in the past and don't plan to today. >> i think they come down really hard on anyone causing real issues. they are usually lenient and we will stop and check and see what they are doing and what we are up to at least once or twice today. as long as we are restrained we will not have issues. >> the city of cleveland set up 50 port-a-potties which means eastern lots and don't throw trash on the ground. once inside the muni lot you are not allowed to leave if you plan to come back in. rules state you cannot cross the shoreway. the good news is, the city told us they have had not problems with brown fans since the rules and have not arrested anyone in three years. they hope the trend continues. >> judging by how it looks right now. they think it is a peaceful beginning to and still not that many people but actually a scum of motor homes driving in now. we will see more browns fans getting off there. i saw a couple of mounted units walking by. other than that it is a low key night in the muni lot and maybe it is different first we want to head to dan deroos in studio. >> dan: a fatal crash on the jennings freeway. what caused the driver to slam in the back of a cleveland water department truck. police say the water truck was off the side of the road when the van smashed into it leaving the cab of the van crushed killing the driver and ended up in the weeds. not hurt. we do not know what caused the driver to veer off the road and police have not released the victim's name yet. a bombshell about the u.s. olympic swim team. police in brazil say gold medalist ryan lochte lied about being robbed at gunpoint in rio and now questioning three american swimmers with lochte that night. new surveillance footage shows the swimmers early sunday morning at a rio gas station. at one point the m leaving the taxi and made to sit on the ground right there. made to sit there with their hands in the air. a brazilian police officer says this was a confrontation with a security guard over damage at the gas station not an armed robbery. one olympic official is defending the swimmers. >> they had fun and made a mistake. it is part of life. >> lochte is already back in the u.s. and the other swimmers are still in rio and now people are stripped. most stripped medals happen because of doping or steroids and it is possible the ioc could take the medals away from the entire swim team or just lochte. turning to campaign 2016 now hillary clinton and donald trump are both focusing on speaking to law enforcement during campaign stops today. hillary clinton held a round table discussion to address the discord between police and communities theyer thursday visiting a fraternal order of police lodge. trump goes on air with his first ads in four battle ground states. and sources tell the "associated press" donald >> dan: welcome. let's talk about flooding in louisiana. these pictures are just in from a flooded school, a sad sight of their homes in that state. there are mounds of belongings up and down residential streets that has been thrown out as people try to rebuild their homes and their lives. first responders are still going door-to-door to make sure people are okay. but forecasters are warning, you guessed it, more rain is on the way. when you see sights like that, a lot of us try to think about how we can help and maybe it comes in the form of donation ohio attorney general mike dewine put out a bunch of warnings and unfortunately, we have to talk about this in this day and age and you have to review any requests you get especially e-mails and social media and facebook and twitter. do some research. not all the things you see that friends post on facebook have not been vetted and they may not be real charities. start to evaluate. general's i.r.s. has the select check. can you make sure they are an actual charity paying taxes. if you go through the better business bureau wise giving and another check to make sure it is legitimate and be careful what's called look-a-likes, web sites and e-mails and we refer to it as phishing in the past and salvation army has a logo that it looks like it and red cross not spelled correctly. you will see scams because they know americans want to help and give and that's an advantage for criminals to take advantage of you. be careful going forward. let's get back to where it is beautiful outside the rock 'n roll hall of fame. chris and denise, to push things forward and incredible artifacts and people like you expect bob dylan and lamar and lady gaga and jimmie hendrix and it is a fascinating exhibit. people can look at music that existed [ audience laughter ] >> chris: welcome to the rock 'n roll hall of fame. we are live all week for the 5:00 p.m. newscast and one of the exhibits is rock, power and politics somewhat fitting and the millennial vote will be critical in this election and right now that's good news for hillary clinton. >> denise: sure is. a new survey by "usa today" shows mrs. clinton leads by a wide margin especially with the voting groups of 18 to 34-years-olds. ryan nobles talked to the washington bureau chief to break down the numbers even further. here is a look. >> reporter: there are an estimated 62.9 million people ages 18 to 34 in the united states. as a result, millennials have the potential to be the most powerful voting block in america. they have been tracking the vote in 2016 and according to susan paige a new poll shows trouble for donald trump. >> we have him at 20% support among voters under 35. polls show hillary clinton as a candidate, historically, volters that age can't be counted on. >> turnout is the question with younger voters. >> millennials tend to care about specific issues than a candidate being a republican or democrat. many of the issues donald trump talks about like a return to robust manufacturing job base. >> so pennsylvania provided steel to the entire world. that's not true anymore. >>or >> millennials don't remember an era with pittsburgh having a lot of steel mills and someone with a college education getting a middle class job at that's not their life experience. >> and connecting with young voters is key to participation. pugh research says 1% of the eligible voting pool and something no candidate can ignore. >> reporter: in washington, i'm ryan nobles. >> denise: the interesting at the polls. >> chris: getting first time voters out is key for any party. >> denise: so important we exercise our right. let's head to dan in the studio for news of the day. >> dan: thank you very much. when you hear of linndale you think of ohio's most ma notorious speed trap. if you got a ticket you have felt the sting in your wallet. where does the money go? you may be surprised at some of the answers on spending from outside the city. paul orlousky is digging deeper into this investigation and he is getting more answers tonight. >> anything else other than the road conditions. >> linndale mayor ashley mclaughlin spends time at the cleveland home of andy baker, the village prosecutor in linndale appointed by mayor mclaughlin. the pay is $15,500 and $100 for court time and trial paralegal is $75 an hour. our initial investigation shows the mayor spends little or no time in linndale. water records show long periods of time no water used and months on end. the mayor must be a village resident and has to be a resident in the village during their time in office. only the village can remove the mayor. >> now we have questions concerning andy baker's residency. he by the councilman at the june 7 council meeting. >> does andy vote here? >> i don't understand your question. >> does andy vote in the village of linndale. >> yes. >> he does. >> do you live here? >> my registered address is, yes. >> do you live here. >> we checked records at the board of elections. since 2013 baker was registered to vote at the avenue of peace exchange baker changed his registered voting address to the cleveland address where he actually lives and nothing in the linndale charter that says the prosecutor needs to live in the village. his his residentsy raises the question. as an attorney baker is an officer of the court. >> you changed your registration. >> no comment. >> once again, no comment. >> the meeting was the 7th and 10th you changed it. >> baker wouldn't answer our the local board of elections or county prosecutor would have jurisdiction in a situation like this. >> what's the truth. >> once again, no comment. >> reporter: as an officer of court, are you committing fraud? >> no comment. >> reporter: the no trespassing sign is new since the last visit. the mayor's residency is in question and question about andy baker's voting record and what was a city employee working at the mayor's house on city time. at the mayor's home. this video shows the village service director apparently working on electric lines at the home and a log at village hall shows he was on his job at the time and actually listed the mayor's address as his job site. should he work at the mayor's home while being paid by village taxpayers? tailgating big time. this is cleveland. this is what we live for. i have my orange on in honor the browns. shelby miller is among the tailgaters she was out there talking with folks. shelby, this is your first tailgating experience. what do you think? >> reporter: the music is good at least, denise. that's one thing. can't help but dance out here today. aside from that, it is kind of empty. right now we will talk about the fun stuff, rules and regulations. them posted on the poles in the parking lot don't cross the shoreway, don't bring in alcohol. things like that. it is not keeping the few people here from having fun before the game. >> reporter: browns are back and so are the rules. twenty-five dollars gets you in the muni lot and that's what you are paying per spot. signs are posted to remind them of regulations. no charcoal grills, only propane, no public intoxication and no fire pits. season regularrers have not had issues with the rules in the past and don't plan to today. >> i think they come down really hard on anyone causing real issues. they are usually lenient and we will stop and check and see what they are doing and what we are up to at least once or twice today. as long as we are restrained we will not have issues. >> the city of cleveland set up 50 port-a-potties which means eastern lots and don't throw trash on the ground. once inside the muni lot you are not allowed to leave if you plan to come back in. rules state you cannot cross the shoreway. the good news is, the city told us they have had not problems with brown fans since the rules and have not arrested anyone in three years. they hope the trend continues. >> judging by how it looks right now. they think it is a peaceful beginning to and still not that many people but actually a scum of motor homes driving in now. we will see more browns fans getting off there. i saw a couple of mounted units walking by. other than that it is a low key night in the muni lot and maybe it is different first we want to head to dan deroos in studio. >> dan: a fatal crash on the jennings freeway. what caused the driver to slam in the back of a cleveland water department truck. police say the water truck was off the side of the road when the van smashed into it leaving the cab of the van crushed killing the driver and ended up in the weeds. not hurt. we do not know what caused the driver to veer off the road and police have not released the victim's name yet. a bombshell about the u.s. olympic swim team. police in brazil say gold medalist ryan lochte lied about being robbed at gunpoint in rio and now questioning three american swimmers with lochte that night. new surveillance footage shows the swimmers early sunday morning at a rio gas station. at one point the m leaving the taxi and made to sit on the ground right there. made to sit there with their hands in the air. a brazilian police officer says this was a confrontation with a security guard over damage at the gas station not an armed robbery. one olympic official is defending the swimmers. >> they had fun and made a mistake. it is part of life. >> lochte is already back in the u.s. and the other swimmers are still in rio and now people are stripped. most stripped medals happen because of doping or steroids and it is possible the ioc could take the medals away from the entire swim team or just lochte. turning to campaign 2016 now hillary clinton and donald trump are both focusing on speaking to law enforcement during campaign stops today. hillary clinton held a round table discussion to address the discord between police and communities theyer thursday visiting a fraternal order of police lodge. trump goes on air with his first ads in four battle ground states. and sources tell the "associated press" donald >> dan: welcome. let's talk about flooding in louisiana. these pictures are just in from a flooded school, a sad sight of their homes in that state. there are mounds of belongings up and down residential streets that has been thrown out as people try to rebuild their homes and their lives. first responders are still going door-to-door to make sure people are okay. but forecasters are warning, you guessed it, more rain is on the way. when you see sights like that, a lot of us try to think about how we can help and maybe it comes in the form of donation ohio attorney general mike dewine put out a bunch of warnings and unfortunately, we have to talk about this in this day and age and you have to review any requests you get especially e-mails and social media and facebook and twitter. do some research. not all the things you see that friends post on facebook have not been vetted and they may not be real charities. start to evaluate. general's i.r.s. has the select check. can you make sure they are an actual charity paying taxes. if you go through the better business bureau wise giving and another check to make sure it is legitimate and be careful what's called look-a-likes, web sites and e-mails and we refer to it as phishing in the past and salvation army has a logo that it looks like it and red cross not spelled correctly. you will see scams because they know americans want to help and give and that's an advantage for criminals to take advantage of you. be careful going forward. let's get back to where it is beautiful outside the rock 'n roll hall of fame. chris and denise, to push things forward and incredible artifacts and people like you expect bob dylan and lamar and lady gaga and jimmie hendrix and it is a fascinating exhibit. people can look at music that existed you may be surprised at some of the answers on spending from outside the city. paul orlousky is digging deeper into this investigation and he is getting more answers tonight. >> anything else other than the road conditions. >> linndale mayor ashley mclaughlin spends time at the cleveland home of andy baker, the village prosecutor in linndale appointed by mayor mclaughlin. the pay is $15,500 and $100 for court time and trial paralegal is $75 an hour. our initial investigation shows the mayor spends little or no time in linndale. water records show long periods of time no water used and months on end. the mayor must be a village resident and has to be a resident in the village during their time in office. only the village can remove the mayor. >> now we have questions concerning andy baker's residency. he by the councilman at the june 7 council meeting. >> does andy vote here? >> i don't understand your question. >> does andy vote in the village of linndale. >> yes. >> he does. >> do you live here? >> my registered address is, yes. >> do you live here. >> we checked records at the board of elections. since 2013 baker was registered to vote at the avenue of peace exchange baker changed his registered voting address to the cleveland address where he actually lives and nothing in the linndale charter that says the prosecutor needs to live in the village. his his residentsy raises the question. as an attorney baker is an officer of the court. >> you changed your registration. >> no comment. >> once again, no comment. >> the meeting was the 7th and 10th you changed it. >> baker wouldn't answer our the local board of elections or county prosecutor would have jurisdiction in a situation like this. >> what's the truth. >> once again, no comment. >> reporter: as an officer of court, are you committing fraud? >> no comment. >> reporter: the no trespassing sign is new since the last visit. the mayor's residency is in question and question about andy baker's voting record and what was a city employee working at the mayor's house on city time. at the mayor's home. this video shows the village service director apparently working on electric lines at the home and a log at village hall shows he was on his job at the time and actually listed the mayor's address as his job site. should he work at the mayor's home while being paid by village taxpayers?
