donald trump the wind went out of the room. stewart garson who is the cuyahoga county democratic chair spoke to the crowd shortly after the announcement. i can tell you there was an audible gasp, a gasp from the crowd when the numbers came in and ohio was given to trump. >> ho, ho, ho, everybody relax it is gonna be a long night. this thing is far from over. we saw these numbers and cuyahoga county is coming in two for one for hillary. so apparently we did our job up here. i have a couple of candidates i want to introduce. it is going to be a long night, and we have this rolling situation going on. the west needs to report. there are multiple paths to victory. ever relax -- everybody relax whatever happens is gonna happen and there is nothing we can do in here to worry about it. let's just take a deep breath. >> reporter: they are taking a a deep breath. they cheer every time a win comes in for clinton. it may not be enough. let's go to paul orlousky who is covering another aspect of the trump campaign. orlo? >> reporter: harry, thank you very much. first of all fox just called florida and we reported that as well. the place this is what it sounded like when it was called, the state of ohio was called for donald trump. >> and we are ready to call the official word that donald trump will win for ohio's electoral votes. >> reporter: there you have it. it might have gone crazier when they announced florida because that is a major key. rob frost, the chairman of the republican party, that had to be a neat announcement to be able to make to the party here. you helped us be able to make that announcement. every source of information we've got, in fact when you were standing here you may have overheard one of our faithful talking to his mom down in palm beach, the local station called florida and we know in about two minutes before the network called it up here on the big screen, before fox called it. >> reporter: you have florida and ohio, two big ones? what is the next major? >> of the states donald trump needs to win before looking at nevada and arizona, but w donald trump is going to win are michigan and wisconsin. >> you think hey is going to? >> he is puncturing holes in the blue wall hillary clinton had. we felt it would be close in virginia and pennsylvania. we were not confident of wins in those states, but to see those numbers come in where we expected them. we now feel confident that we are gonna get at least one if not both of michigan and wisconsin. >> reporter: thank you very much and congratulations to you and your organization. it was explosive in here and now as he says watching for michigan and pennsylvania. getting answers at the gop headquarters, paul orlousky, cleveland 19. >> romona: thank you for that, paul. now to the board of elections. >> denise: shell booy miller is -- shelby miller is getting answers where they count all of the votes. shelby, what is the answer there? >> reporter: denise and ramona, they are busy at work behind me as you can see. but only 53% is reporting right now. lot of votes to count. not only for that race, but so many other wheeze have there in the state. a lot of important issues on the ballot. in cuyahoga county the latest results i have are that hillary clinton has about 64% of vote in the county where trump has about 31%. we have been out here all day and the workers are busy sorting the ballots into the boxes. over to this area that you can see here and it is caged off on the other side you can see the taboo layings area -- the tabulation area and that's where they are working to count the votes. it is a restricted area so no one besides officials are allowed in there during this counting process. it will be a long night here. the board of director told us they don't really expect 100% to report here in the county. in the morning. back to you guys in the studio. >> denise: shelby miller for us live at the quia yaw hoe go -- cuyahoga county board of elections. now a look at the race for ohio senate. rob portman was declared the winner and handily defeated the former governor mr. strickland. he conceded very early, like 8:15. the final results are not in yet, but right now we have 76% portman with 59 to ted strickland's 30 sick. >> romona: it is not surprising to many that the ohio senate race was called early. sara goldenburg is live at rob portman's victory party. sara? >> reporter: it has been a happy reaction as you can imagine at the watch party here in columbus just across from the state capitol and you can see that we have a pretty good crowd where they are watching the election results many of the candidates take the stage. senator rob portman is winning in a landslide against ted strickland. the polls predicted this would happen and we were at his victory speech a few blocks from here earlier today. he talked about the decisiveness and how he hopes to bring both sides together when he goes back to the capitol. be a time to press the reset button over in washington. two big things he talked about in his campaigning. one is the heroin epidemic in northeast ohio and ohio in general. he has fought against that and he has battled against human trafficking in the state. two main issues that he talked about. we are going to send this to catherine bosley who has been watching the ted strickland party a few blocks away. catherine? >> reporter: sara, a bit of a different mood at the democratic election party. hit hard pretty early on when ted strickland learned of his loss. shortly after his concession speech he did spend time speaking about this whole thing. >> i am so grateful to ohio and to those who allowed me to be their congressmen and to those who allowed to let me serve as their governor and i want to say to all ohio ans, bit success special -- but hearts appreciate what theyy have done to help me. >> reporter: and congresswoman joyce beatty is here and she was just one representing the third district you know mr. strickland and your thoughts on the loss. >> it was a difficult loss in the community. he served as a great governor of ohio. he has served in congress and he was looking back going to the somewhat. he will have a lot of options. he i clinician, but it didn't turn out the way we hoped for. >> reporter: now let's talk about the whole feel right here at this party. the zest was zipped out of the party early on and then further and your candidate winning. >> there is a lot of anxiety. we are fighters fighters fighters and we are democrats. she has some major states we are counting. michigan, it is still doable. she is up in the electoral votes right now so we are hopeful. we are not going to give up right now. >> reporter: and i know the democratic party is celebrating a you lot of -- a lot of other smaller races. you say there is a good feel altogether. >> very good. and right here in my county we have our first african-american county commissioner. we have our youngest recorder. so there is a lot of good things, new judges. >> reporter: good things. thank you for being with us. reporting live and getting answers in columbus, cleveland 19 back to you guys. >> romona: huge news from cbs news. they have called north carolina for donald trump. that was a crucial state for both candidates. so far donald trump winning north carolina and florida, two big states. >> denise: and of course ohio as well. don't go away. stay with us on cleveland 19 as we continue to bring you live from cleveland's news center driven by don joseph toy toyota in kent this is cleveland 19 news. >> romona: welcome back to our continuing election coverage. >> denise: a busy night. we have you covered. we will look at the current numbers for the cleveland the last -- this is issue 32. the last time it went up was 1981. and so far yes vote as it at 52% and 48% voting no against it. >> romona: jen has been watching this half percent income tax hike. let's go to her now. jen? >> reporter: ramona and denise, like you said the numbers are very, very close. at last check we were looking at 53% reporting and the difference between the -- hoss for and votes. it is a nail biter much like the presidential election. i got a chance to talk to the city council president and he said they expected it to go this way. it wasn't the money for the traditional campaign for this issue. they had to go and door knock and do robo calls and send out maleouts because there was not the money for it -- mailouts because there was no money and there is no other option at this point. they can't keep robbing peter i also asked him is this a result of the mistakes made in city council and the administration said it is not a result of mismanagement. >> i think we have managed the budgetary mark -- remarkably well. it is a rough time to be a city. we are down -- i mean take any budget and we are down $150 million of where we would have been. housing stock -- it is not like we have less vacant and abandoned homes. these problems keep happening and be have to deal with them. >> at stake here are jobs and city services. councilman kelly said they want to avoid a recount so they will have to win by more than half a percent. getting answers in cleveland, cleveland 19. >> denise: thank you. we want to get you caught up issue 118. let's get to shanice dunning who is live in parma with more. >> reporter: right now they are breathing a sigh of relief. it looks like the board of elections is saying that 68 percent of voters did vote in favor of issue 118 and as you mentioned that is the 10-year tax renewal and definitely needed in the school district. they are facing a multimillion-dollar the deficit discovered this year for $15 million. and since then the school district has had to propose a plan to the state calling for $7 million worth of cuts this sl school year and $12 million worth of cuts next year and according to the same plan 25 million people have lost their jobs, 25 jobs eliminated. those reasons and many more reasons why they push for this levy. i spoke with the mother about how she felt about the results so far. the right direction. there is some success. but we definitely feel it will be better knowing there are not more cuts right now. it feels good to know we won't have another bomb dropping right away. >> so unofficially it looks like good news for the parma school district as this levy has passed. still big changes to come. cleveland 19 >> romona: lydia esparra is getting answers. >> we will go for analysis now. >> i am with dr. jeff who is a professor of political science at ashland university. the trump must wins. give us those states. >> it was ohio and florida and he got those. it is north carolina and it looks like he has that. new hampshire in the east and nevada in the west. >> clinton? >> have to have michigan and have to have wisconsin. it looks like she has new mexico and she will come in with a lot of electoral votes from the west coast. >> the one thing you and i have been talking about, but the polls seem to be wrong in so many of these states like florida for instance. how do you explain that? we have a lot of polls and i wonder if there is a problem with under reporting. people either didn't respond to polls or say the true poll. >> reporter: people were not really polling those people. you were doing early voting and things like that and that's the surprise we have all been waiting for. >> and with so much early voting and there is such a long cycle that polling can be difficult to capture that. >> reporter: usually in the past elections it is called by nevada, a must win for trump. the results could come in slowly at clark county and we could be in for a long evening. >> nevada, arizona and new hampshire if they go for trump there is little chance that hillary clinton will be the president. >> thank you for joining us. let's send it to -- i guess we are going back to you in the >> romona: we'll take it, lydia. let's go to our reporter carl monday. >> denise: there were concerns and there may be voter suppression. >> reporter: on a day many expected the worst things went smoothly. we spent the day looking for trouble but didn't find it. when a man walked into bethany baptist church he was told he was in the right place. stride. >> he didn't seem intimidating or did he seem like somebody that would -- >> no, he did not. he was no threat. >> reporter: after the man left someone said he threatened to return with a gun. sheriff deputies investigated, but they cooperate substantiate the threat. at times observers seem to outnumber voters. they were passing out campaign back off. >> they said because i have my hand up like this i was flagging people down. i wasn't. >> reporter: we found these two election observers outside the polling place at the fair fax rec center. despite the polling place chaos no major problems in cuyahoga county. >> no intimidation at all? >> not that i have seen. >> five, six, seven, eight. >> america was never great. kept the protests on a street corner far from any polling booths. >> and tonight at the county elections board confirm there were no cases of voter intimidation tonight. everyone is breathing a sigh of relief and so are we. some real serious problems in some other cities where they shootings at the election polls. >> denise: arguments, yeah. >> reporter: we did good. >> denise: we are calm in cleveland. >> romona: as we always a >> denise: exactly. >> romona: let's go over to jeff. >> jeff: thank you. we still have a few showers out there and not as great as earlier. northern trumble county, one passed through mesopatamia. there is walton hills and we have a colder air and we will develop lake effect rain. wooer at 54 in cleveland and you can see 47 grand rapids and then it drops off in on the way. 47 by morning and i think we will continue that shower threat. the wind has picked up and you know something has moved through. the weather impact tomorrow morning will be at two. you will be dodging isolated showers and temps in the midto upper 40s. here is the problem tomorrow. we don't go up in temperature. basically holding steady around 48. isolated showers in the morning and north winds are gusting over 25. feel colder than the air temperature. spotty showers at 7:00 a.m. and 47 noon. cloudy and windy and 47 and then cloudy and 46. it will look and feel like a november day tomorrow. 47 akron-canton and you will see a few showers around in the morning. dropping to the 30s tomorrow night. thursday we will warm back up to 63. sunshine and windy. but here comes another system on veterans day. showers. temps are in the 40s. saturday partly cloudy and 46 and it warms up. 58 and windy conditions and a mostly sunny sky. ladies, back to you. >> romona: and we just got this in. the cleveland school district levy renewal, issue 108 has passed 68 perts -- 68%. that's with 76% of the precincts reporting. >> at cleveland 19 as way continue to bring you the latest election results. you can download our cleveland 19 news app to stream us >> denise: we want to get you caught up. dan deroos is getting you answers for the latest in the electoral vote. >> dan: i want to show you whenner we stand. hillary 197-193 and for clinton supporters it looks like a great number but i want to show you why it is not a good number. for the states trump is leading in right now with substantial leads, if he makes it through where we are at -- let me get through this in a second. if he makes it through in the states he is currently leading you are going to see he has a path to 274. i am gonna do this real quk he is currently leading in a lot of organizations -- and a lot of organizes have him winning florida and that's worth 29. he is leading georgia. they are waiting for the atlanta vote to come in, but he is leading pretty substantially. new hampshire he is leading. michigan leading. wisconsin leading and iowa leading. if he pecks up just -- picks up just shoughs -- those states that's another 81 delegates. he was at 193. so 193 plus 81 and that puts so there is donald trump's path to victory tonight. we already know florida is pretty much, that's a red state. we will fill it in. for him to win tonight all he has to do is close out the state s he will lead with on the east coast. florida and georgia and new hampshire and michigan and wisconsin and iowa. he is in the lead right now with a lot of votes already in. when you talk about iowa and wisconsin and michigan they are at 50 and 60% in and he has leads of three and four points there it to the white house. that's how he gets to 274 at this point. ramona and denise, back to you. >> romona: thank you. let's look at issue 64 which is what to do with leak wood hospital. >> denise: that's right. if you are looking at the latest results this is the lakewood hospital issue. a no vote meant voters would uphold the decision to support the clinic and turn the facility into a family health center and keep the emergency of it. a very vote 53% and so far the no's are at 47%. that says 0 precincts reporting. they may be the absentee ballot and the early voting. >> romona: lacey is getting answers and she has been on the story all night. lacey? >> reporter: they are watching the results very closely at the pro-issue 64 watch group. as you can see behind me you city council voted unanimously to close the lakewood hospital and open a $34 million cleveland clinic family health center and 24-hour emergency department. the hospital is losing money and this is a way to get a state-of-the-art facility and redevelop the space where the old hospital is located. a group trying to say there is a loss of services and a loss of jobs. everyone agrees that if issue tomorrow. cleveland 19teen news. >> romona: thank you, lacey. right now we will take a live look outside at our feazel roof cam.
