"so i really like the hire. hes a guy that likes to run the football. toledo's been in the top 25 in rushing the past two seasons. another think i really like about campbel is that he's not a conventional recruiter, where he does have a system that he wants to recruit guys to, but he's also not opposed to taking transfers, he's not opposed to taking juco guys, and at iowa state you can't play the same game that ou and texas and those guys are playing, you gotta do it a little differently. so i think the writing's on the wall that this is a good hire, but we're not 100% sure yet." jordan/fs taking a look at campbell's bio. he's originally from football crazed massilon ohio and played at d-3 power mount union in ohio, winning 3 national titles as a player and two more as a coach. when hired by toledo in 20-11 he was the youngest head coach in fbs. he led the rockets to a 35- 15 record, 3 bowls, two bowl wins and two mid-american conference division championships. campbell is described as a players' coach and was named rivals dot com's top recruiter in 20-11. he has a wife and three children... the deal with isu is a six year deal, with a first year salary of 2 million dollars... and the cherry on top, today is campbell's 36th birthday! what a birthday present for him! jordan other big news up in ames today! the cy-hawk series hits the wrestling mat! the 15th ranked cyclones host the 2nd ranked hawkeyes, fresh off iowa's win over then #1 ok- state in the grapple on the gridiron we head up to hilton... 133 pounds, 2nd ranked cory clark. the pride of se polk....gets the 4 point near fall to take down #7 earl hall in a 9-2 decision. up to 141, dante rodriguez evens the match at 3 with the 6-2 decision. 149 pounds, #3 brandon sorensen for iowa against #15 gabe moreno. sorenson gets hawks go up 7-3. cyclones answer at 165 pounds. 11th ranked tanner weatherman, the ballard-huxley grad gets the two point take down and the 10-9 win to make it 10-6. but from there, iowa would score 26 unanswered points overcoming a slow start to beat iowa state for the 12th straight time, 33-6. "even though it sounds like the direction of whatever the theme is here is that we were slow starters in the first 5 wins, you gotta give these guys credit for being able to do what you said, outscore heavy in the third period. we want to own the third period, we want to own the second period and we want to own the first period. we're greedy." finally the hawkeye men finishing up the advocare invite down in orlando versus #20 wichita state. hawks up 12 and moving the ball really well here. mike gesell finds anthony clemmons who buries the three ball. iowa up 22 at this point, but the shockers throw up a prayer and it goes in! 40-21 at the break. but from there, the hawkeyes cruised. thanks to jared uthoff. uthoff led all scorers with a season high 22 points. iowa knocks off the 20th ranked shockers, 84-61. jordan/fs and the drake women stay unbeaten capturing the lady releb round unlv in las vegas 76-68. the lady dogs move to 6-0, maddy dean led all scorers with 23 points. lizzy wendel was named tournament mvp.
