(nat chimes) he stopped by skunk river cycles... the same shop he'd learned just a few weeks ago reguarly donated bikes that needed fixing up. it was the right thing at the right time, the right person. the shop just happened to have two boys bikes they could make into one... and owner ron ritz was more than happy to help. as a small town member, you're responsible not just to yourself but the community. its just nice someone can get a bike, officer vince hand delivered the new bike to fionn that same night it's amazing, sweet, above and beyond the call of duty for sure. but what finn will show off the most... (the new bike it's this one) is whats stuck on his new wheels, (the officer officer gave me) this golden badge... ames police... junior officer. the mark of a friendship that's just beginning. i have the feeling this will be the start of a good relationship, we'll see each other in hopefully on his bike! riding. nikki/lam: now skunk river cycles is actually low on boys bikes right now... they ask if you have any bikes that aren't in use.... to donate them... they'll make sure they'll end up in good hands. you can find their contact information on our website, we are iowa dot com. nikki: coming up on local 5 news at 10... allergic reactions...and skin rashes... probably not the kind of halloween costume you want for your kids. we've got a warning tonight before you get them dressed up. nikki: and ... how a homecoming parade ended with four dead including a two year old child. tonight family members of the victims are speaking out. james: and i'll have your forecast ahead "monday on good morning iowa... between your work life and home life, things can get stressful. we'll share some ways to bust that stress! for halloween week. "theres nothing more worth less than a pumpkin on the first of november" in the fifteen years jason boyer has been planting pumpkins, this year was one of the hardest. "i would say as a whole, we'd be 1/3 to half of what we normally would raise" this spring, it was the rain. then the weeds. then in summer.... more rain. "bout the second we ek in may, rain rain rain never quits, trying to get a pumpkin crop planted has been rather hard to get" of his two giant pumpkin patches, only this one survived. producing more gourds than jack-o- laterns. "you knwo walking through it was different, it rained every week, it standing still, thats what it does/ just a challenege, but thats all farming laughs" boyers said the rain can make diseases like mildew and rot set in much earlier than usual. "not a healthy looking plant" with a decrease in the patches, boyer had to increase his prices by about 15 percent back at the barn. but he says they have plenty of pumpkins for the early incoming customers. "theyll be pumpkins around itll be a little more and a little shorter supply, if youre wanting a pumpkin come out early and get em" boyer says he may import pumpkins from other farms toward the end of the season but that may be too expensive since other states, like missouri and illinois, are having the same issue. if anything, he says he's learned a valuable lesson from this years not-so-bumper crop. pumpkins are no different from beans or corn.. it's all hit or miss.
