Nikki West Des Moines police say the man was hit while trying to cross the street near a pair of caucus sites. Police were called out to the 7thousand block of ashworth road, near Saint Francis church, just before 7 oclock last night, stepped into the roadway, as a truck was passing by. The area doesnt have any crosswalks or signals for pedestrians. Authorities say the driver thought hed hit a deer, and pulled over to the side of the road.
