dan: real simple, he's gonna have to get my wife to give me the okay, kathy. elias: how tough is that? dan: that's pretty tough. but i think its not as because she's been doing her homework and following. i just over here from meeting donald trump for the second time. i was really hoping to get some time with him because i want to with. you know i read and i see and i follow but one on one gives you that indication and we didn't get that. i guess they didn't compensate for the wind in his jet. so, i'm a long ways away but with that in mind its not too far away. elias you're name has been thrown around, dan gable you should run for office whether it be local state level, governor...any interest in running for elected office? dan: you know i looked into that hard for fours months and it really broke me. i never got broke too many times in wrestling if i ever did but that business is more like, i don't know if i want to hurt people. i like to hurt them on the mat and one guy said that's one of the reasons your one of the best of all time but that's on the wrestling mat. in life, in everyday affairs i don't like to shut people off so it would be very tough for me. amanda/2ram gable also plans to meet with marco rubio before making up his mind on who he'll support. stephanie/2ram we'll be hearing much more from that's we are iowa dot com. jack/2wxcenter we're over with chief meteorologist brad edwards now. noticed you're looking a little scruffy lately -- and you're not the only one. some of the guys here at local 5 are growing out their beards and mustaches to raise cancer awareness. you can see their progress here. it's all part of no shave november and they have one week left. jack: if you'd like to help our cause-- donations will only be accepted through the no- shave website. for a link to that head to our website at we are iowa dot com. jack/2wxcenter (ad libs reax) brad:wxcenter (ad libs reax) ( local 5 weather is forecast with chief meteorologist brad edwards. certified by weatherrate the independent weather experts" brad/wxc: welcome back. i'm local 5 chief meteorologist brad edwards. brad: let's take a look at we are iowa's most accurate forecast. brad/wxwall: monday was a nice thaw for the metro with highs reaching the mid 40s, but it was much cooler to the north where the snowpack is much deeper. watch out for some refreezing tonight as we cool back down below freezing under partly cloudy skies. tuesday is looking like another mild day for us with highs in the mid to upper 40s in most areas as the winds turn around to the se at 7-14 mph. we will going into wednesday even as clouds take over the sky. brad/2wx: that's all for my forecast. check out weareiowa.com for the latest in weather much deeper. watch out for some refreezing tonight as we cool back down below freezing under partly cloudy skies. tuesday is looking like another mild day for us with highs in the mid to upper 40s in most areas as the winds turn around to the se at 7-14 mph. we will keep the mild trend going into wednesday even as clouds take over the sky. brad/2wx: that's all for my forecast. check out weareiowa.com for much deeper. watch out for some refreezing tonight as we cool back down below freezing under partly cloudy skies. tuesday is looking like another mild day for us with highs in the mid areas as the winds turn around to the se at 7-14 mph. we will keep the mild trend going into wednesday even as clouds take over the sky. brad/2wx: that's all for my forecast. check out weareiowa.com for much deeper. watch out for some refreezing tonight as we cool back down below freezing under partly cloudy skies. tuesday is looking like another mild day for us with highs in the mid to upper 40s in most areas as the winds turn around to the se at 7-14 mph. we will keep the mild trend going into wednesday even as clouds take over the sky. brad/2wx: that's all for my the latest in weather . stephanie/2wx: thanks brad. stephanie: if you're out having some fun in what's left of our first big snowfall -- snap a photo! we'd love to see them. just use hashtag share it on five. jack/2bam: i'm here with sports director jon schaeffer and jon-- never easy firing a head coach who has great character. jon/2bam: yeah jack and you could hear it in jamie pollard's voice-- it hurts. local 5 sports we'll hear from and allen lazard decision to let cyclone's head coach. "now, local 5 sports are iowa sports" it's the end of era at iowa state. it was an ames as jamie pollard, rhoads, and players talked to media about the decision. somber doesn't even begin to explain the tone-- but it's a decision pollard felt he had to make based on the bottom line-- wins and losses. and rhoads understands. that doesn't make it any easier-- especially with the character and pride that paul rhoads carried while coaching at iowa state. " paul was not let go because of what happened on saturday. we have a saying in the locker room, no one player, no one play costs the team a game. no one game costs the coach a job. we made the decision to make a change because we simply didn't win enough games and we weren't trending in the right direction. wanted to accomplish had never been done before. i gave you some highlights that we did but i wanted more and after three bowls in four years yeah you betcha i could have been gone but i wanted to do what hadn't been done before. it meant a great deal to me to be able to provide that for the fans at iowa state university so i stuck around and continued to give it everything i had in the end it wasn't enough. you know i came to iowa state because i wanted to play for coach rhoads and because i see how passionate he is for iowa state, how much he cares about his players and everyone else. he's just a genuine guy there's so much i could say about him but it's going to suck not playing for him. " rhoads will still coach iowa state saturday in morgantown as they take on west virginia. jamie pollard has already started his search for a new head coach. there are 12 fbs head coaching jobs open right now. jon: now after a winter storm pushed back friday's high school football championships to today-- we finally get to see a battle of unbeatens in 4a as dowling takes on cedar rapids kennedy. there's also a little history on the line-- for more we go to jordan furbee in the dome. " well jon fittingly three days later dowling finally gets to go after a three- peat. the maroons are the two time defending state champions and looking to be the first 4a team to ever win 3 straight. i caught up with dowling head coach tom wilson to get his thoughts on the quest for a three-peat. really we're just trying for one in a row and that would in the long run make three for us so obviously our concern is right now and tonight and looking forward to the challenge and i don't think they can help but see it and a lot of people have mentioned if i don't mention it somebody at school is going to so really you just embrace it and understand that it's a step by step process. we've got an awful lot of steps and one game to make it happen and if we dont' there's no history dowling wins tonight's game if? we control the line of scrimmage. cedar rapids kennedy and dowling kick off at the top of the hour we'll of course have highlights and reaction for you coming up tonight at 10 from the uni-dome in cedar falls i'm jordan furbee local 5 sports we are iowa. " dowling and kennedy battle at 7:06 tonight in the uni dome as jordan said we'll have highlights tonight at 10. jon/sx3s stephanie/sx3s jack/sx3s back... you're don't forget to visit local 5 on the web. we are iowa dot com is your home for the latest in news, weather, and sports. jack/wxhang: now one last check of your weather, with chief meteorologist brad edwards. brad: monday was a nice thaw for the metro with highs reaching the mid 40s, but it was much cooler to the north where the snowpack is much deeper. watch out for some refreezing tonight as we cool back down below freezing under partly cloudy skies. tuesday is looking like another mild day for us with highs in the mid to upper 40s in most areas as the winds turn around to the se at 7-14 mph. we will keep the mild trend going into wednesday even as clouds take over the sky. stephanie/4shothang: thank you for spending your time with us tonight. jack/4shothang: we are working hard on another great newscast for 10pm. we're proud to say we are iowa... have a great night.
