on tuesday....wreak ed even more damage along the east coast wednesday. possible tornadoes touched down in north carolina and virginia, destroying homes and leaving three more dead. a curfew was put into effect as road crews worked to clear the roads for first responders. sabrina: the third thing you need to know before you walk out the door... sabrina: the investigation of child abuse allegations at an iowa boarding school has the attention of iowa lawmakers... the house government oversight committee is asking how this school was able to operate without any state oversight. should come up with a nominee to replace the late supreme court justice antonin scalia...presiden t obama may be looking to republican possibilities. current nevada governor brian sandoval is being gender identity feel safe. the metro school has opened up two of its restrooms, that were for staff use, to be used as "all-gender restrooms." the change follows a student petition that went to school leaders. no one is required to use them, but are available for students. sabrina: new this morning...des moines police formally charge a man with a double homicide from last year... last night investigators arrested a man in connection with the november deaths of amy and amber fraaken. following an interfiew with police, officers charged 47- year-old barney fraaken with two counts of first degree murder. on november 22nd, his wife and daughter were found shot to death inside of a home on hull avenue. fraaken was taken to a hospital for self-inflicted injuries...and was released from medical care yesterday. police believe the shooting may have been related to a domestic conflict. sabrina: local five is also following the latest on tuesday's shooting in a metro school parking lot. sabrina: authorities believe the man who ended up being shot....may have been waiting to buy drugs when it happened... tuesday night police found 18- year-old darrius colter shot outside of park avenue elementary . during their investigation, they also found a revolver and shell casings near the school. police are still looking for who was responsible. colter was shot in the leg, there's no update on his condition. sabrina: authorities warn central iowa.... the scam uses claims of an audit from the corporate office. they tell the clerk to close the shop, empty their register, and then wire the money to them. to make it sound legitamite....the scammer claims to be watching the security cameras. indianoloa police say the scam is happening in west des moines as well. anyone who thinks just over a month away from the medicaid change over... sabrina: - on cam with one in five iowans using medicaid, there have been plenty of concerns...such as where they will be covered. yesterday, a a senate subcommittee met about preparing a bill to oversee the new privatized program. the idea is to ensure the money that's earmarked for program beneficiaries would stay that way. sabrina: the only action regarding the medicaid change... former governor chet culver organized a "medicaid rally" at the capitol... he's been holding townhall meetings about this medicaid change-over for the last few weeks.... chet culver, former iowa governor: "my concern is that the first thing that we're going to do under the new program is give 14 percent of that money to three private out of state companies instead of to the beneficiaries." there has been some speculation he may be gearing up for another run at state office....but culver says he has no plans to run for office, at either the "in the past, often when there is an investigation going on, there are sometimes we can't talk to who we want to because they are under investigation by other authorities and so we get what we can take and try to put it sabrina: administrators from the department of education, human services, and the state's attorney's office will go before the look at exactly what happened. sabrina: that brought tornadoes to louisiana -- and florida on tuesday -- along the east wednesday... the storm mangled buildings and took even more lives. at least seven people are dead and hundreds of others are without power. mary moloney has more..
