Reporter tonight officers here at the Orlando Police department are hoping someone can identify the man in that Surveillance Video who they say is a person of interest in this brutal the man you see in this Surveillance Video is a man police are trying to identify tonight as a person of interest in a robbery of two women, one of whom was stabbed. Police say it happened last month here at the fountains apartment complex off millennia boulevard. Investigators say the two women were here in the stairwell of the apartment complex when two men approached them and demanded their purses. One of the women tried to fight off the men, and officers say the suspect used a knife to stab her and cut her face before running away. Now police want to speak to this man, caught using the victims credit card shortly after the robbery. The card was also used at several other locations. Lake county teachers have filed a federal complaint. They want more time to plan their class lessons, and now some of them are headed to tallahassee to give lawmakers an earful. Some teachers here in lake county, a lot of teacher, say new state standards combined with new county standards have left them with no individual planning time, which leaves them taking home a lot of work every day. I spoke to all sides of the issue tonight. Take a listen. Take county teachers like kathy smith are on overload. Its helping teachers, students, parents. Its all around not too much reporter smith teaches Elementary School and has for two decades. She says new state standards combined with new expectations bring the old language of their teaching contract into question. Smith and others say theyre being forced to forgo the individual planning time they believe their contract promises, leaving them no other choice but to do a bulk of their work at home on their own time. The wording that we have in the contract talks about individual teacher planning time that we feel that the contract is in our favor. Reporter the County School board recently dismissed the associations grievance on these grounds the district is in compliance with the teachers contract. With that said, the district is willing to work with teachers to find a reasonable common ground. Weve tried to work with the county and the school board for the last two years, and its basically a to interpret the contract. I think many teachers are very disappointed, because it is in the contract that we are supposed to have time for our individual planning. Weve seen teachers crying, weve seen teachers frustrated, weve seen teachers contacting me saying how do i quit, i cant do this anymore. Its its a very rough environment for teachers right now. Reporter as you mentioned, luanne, we learned that 40esome teachers from lake and nearby counties are getting on a bus brait and early tomorrow morning and heading up to tallahassee, where theyll meet 50 other buses. Nearly 3,000 teachers will rally in part of the State Capitol pushing for change regarding things like this, planning periods.
