garage and repeatedly stabbed shelly phillips and adam while their young children were in the house. >> ma'am, ma'am, ma'am, they are coming, okay. is your husband stab inside the abdomen, in the stomach? >> somebody broke up in and beat us. >> reporter: police don't know what phillips's motive was. he never took anything or demanded anything, and they believe his innocent was to kill them. he never retreated. he just kept coming after them. again 19-year-old michael phillips arrested on one count of attempted murder and one count of burglary. his home address is just down the street from where this awful crime happened. >> tracy, thank you. developing right now. orlando lifer is recovering after -- police officer is recovering after he was dragged at a police stop. county jail and more on how that officer is doing tonight. valerie? >> reporter: the chief says he actually tried to get away from officers before driving the same, exact truck. it feels just after 12:30 this morning ben officers say richard was making a stop when he asked morgan for his driver's license. the chief explains what happens next. >> there was a struggle. morgan resisted arrest and actually grabbed onto the officer and stepped on the gas. >> reporter: the f150 pickup struck the officer patrol car and kept driving with the officer trapped in the door frame. >> reporter: this caused our officer to be drug several feet. our officer fell down and struck his head either on the car door, >> reporter: according to a investigators officer fink was able to dislodge from the frame and fell to the ground. the truck struck two large poles at the gas station. the truck was later found abandoned. >> what kind of injuries did the officer -- >> she was diagnosed with a con suggestion. i just talked to him. he's in good spirits. he says he feels like he has a bad headache, which is one of the symptoms of a concussion. >> reporter: the chief tells us they were able to track morgan down quickly because of a prior arrest. i know he had been driving that truck when he was arrested by our agency a few months ago so, we knew quickly who he was. >> reporter: back in july morgan was arrested on burglary and fleeing and alluding an officer. it's been dangerous for his officers. >> . it's very hard for our officers. for one minute they could be talking to the nicest person on earth and the next minute almost ran them over and by the grace of god he got not that serious of an injury. >> reporter: and the chief says the officer wants to return to work on friday if he feels okay. we went to morgan's home but his mom did not want to comment. valerie boey, fox 35 news. new tonight at 11:00. the daytona beach commissioner pass a resolution to move forward with plans for a homeless shelter. they still have not secured the funding for the project. final plans for presented tonight. it's modeled after a similar project. tonight's meeting, most were in favor of continuing efforts to funding. >> i want to personally thank you for -- sting.
