third degree murder charges in the death of michael deng, killed in a hazing ritual in 2013. he suffered blunt force trauma and frat members waited hours to bring him to a hospital. >> members began to hide paraphernalia and put the fraternity's well-being over that of michael deng. >> another 32 members of the fraternity are charged with hazing and hindering apprehension. officials are calling for the city to do more to control staten island. they say that the city has failed to come up with a strategy to deal with the deer. the mayor's office says the city has been proactive with aerial fencing. they're waiting for a federal assessment to be completed before coming up with the deer management plan. and that's what's happening right now. a lot of smiling faces when we're talking about super kids week, three years ago, a teacher's assistant met a young boy who started kindergarten. what followed was an amazing relationship that changed both of their lives. it started young isaiah on a path to becoming one of the state's best young wrestlers, despite being born without legs. liz dahlem has the amazing story. check this out. >> okay. >> where's your core? once, two, three, four. >> i wanted to go back to the first day you met isaiah. >> that day was an amazing day. they asked me if i wanted to -- if i can take a walk with him. he wanted to introduce me to a young man. i fell in love with him right away. i told my boss i want him. the more time he spends with me, i thought it was going to be better for him to realize he can do anything that other kids can do. legs? >> not really. but once you get used to it, it feels good. >> reporter: he has an amazing mom, a very, very caring mom. she works hard. she has two kids. she can't really do it alone. this was about a year after i met him. >> do you like living with >> i do. he protects me like a child. >> i needed him to join a team. that's where you meet the friends that are going to do everything with you. go. >> it's not a disadvantage that he has no legs. it's a different style. >> i focus on everything i have to do. >> he took sixth place at nationals. he never looks down to say or complain about the fact that he has no legs. take this off and go sit down. it's not going to just be given to you. you have to earn it. life is going to be a challenge. the way he's going, he's more than ready to overcome all the obstacles. >> when i got into wrestling, it taught me all i could do with no legs. >> reporter: who's your best friend? >> best friend? my best friend is coach. >> wow. that was the best one ever. he came into our life to teach us a lesson. he came into our lives for us to get ready to help other kids to make the world a better place. ernie: a better place. let's talk about a better world. we have two wonderful people here. i want to say hi to isaiah byrd, a young championship wrestler and his coach, miguel rodriguez. you're terrific. tell me something. you're an amazing young man. where do you get your strength and that power? >> i get my strength from mr. rodriguez. ernie: he helps you a lot. >> he helps me a lot. ernie: what are you thinking most of the time? how do you feel about the things you're able to do? you're a good wrestler, a good guy. what do you think? >> i feel great. ernie: what do you want to do with that greatness, when you grow up, for example? >> i want to work here. ernie: here at the studio? >> yeah. ernie: wouldn't that be great? we'll make you an anchor. you could be sitting in this chair. you were telling me you'd like to be mayor of new york city. wouldn't that be wonderful. what would you change? >> i would change the whole universe of the city. ernie: what would you do? how would you make our city better? >> no spray cans allowed. >> i don't. ernie: what else would you do? would you make people happy? >> i would make people happy in the morning because i'll put on a song and i'll make them happy. ernie: i like that. you make people happy right now by the way you look and what you're saying. miguel. this story is so beautiful. the challenges isaiah faces and the way he handles them is a great inspiration. you have a unique relationship. >> yes. i'm fortunate to have isaiah and his family in our lives. ernie: what have you learned from him? so much. the fact that he can -- there's no limits. he has no excuses. he has such a positive attitude every day. that's amazing. he has taught us a lot. ernie: isaiah, you're looking at yourself on tv. that's nice. tell me, when you talk to a lot of young people, what do you talk about? do you tell them any good story they can remember? do you tell them something about your life? >> i actually i do. ernie: what do you tell them? >> i tell them that we need -- ernie: what do we need? >> need -- ernie: we need people like you. >> people like me and that are helpful. ernie: helpful people. >> and not -- when they -- when you pass by people that are really, really poor and they need money and they're homeless, well, give them $100 or 20. ernie: you want to help homeless people, people who are needy and struggling. >> yes. ernie: you're a good inspiration for so many
