Myself and another officer were actually out on a call. When our telecommunicateor contacted us and stayed a storm was outside of town on the ground moving this direction. It was probably around i say 3 or so started to get weather alerts and we heard tornado hit sanford. And it became apparent us take shelter. I pulled in the Bank Parking Lot and was sitting there when the tornado come overthe trees. It was probably the worst storm i had been through i just laid down in the seat and i am spinning around in the truck and then we stopped and it was like it was going. People trapped in the house roadways were blocked and power lines were down. Reporter and just like that, the biggest tornado outbreak to ever hit North Carolina was over for Holly Springs. Its little unnerving when you think about the building could disappear you are standing in. Reporter we met with the sergeant poston and battalion chief strickland at firehouse number 2 in Holly Springs the same spot an ef3 tornado nearly destroyed five years ago. What happened to the roof. Picked it up and slid over and set it back down. Reporter the Old Firehouse was condemned and rebuilt a year later. This was just one spot hit that saturday afternoon. Before moving through Holly Springs and southwestern wake county you can see some of the trees are still down from that. The tornado first set down in moore county and moved to lee county where it destrode as home improvement. Threat of Severe Weather it was not until we saw the pictures from sanford that we knew how catastrophic this day was going to be. The tornado kind towards raleigh through wake county before lifting up in Franklin County covering 70 miles about winds topping miles with winds topping out out 70 Miles Per Hour we saw 30 tornadoes that day contributing to 8 deaths and more than 300 injuries. Storms like that if i recall i think they talked about it tuesday or wednesday before it happened.
