Hows kelly . She has Atrial Fibrillation and a third and fourth heart sound. Rales at both bases. Whenever were ready, but hes bnegative and weighs 200 pounds. Kellys apositive and 98 pounds. But shes clearly a class4, and shes in refractory heart failure. We can transplant without the blood group matching. Thats true, dr. Howser. But the size is a problem. Theres one other factor. Another candidate in intensive care over at cedars adult male and bnegative. What about this factor shes dying. Shes got to have the transplant. This is dr. Isaacs call. The other patients sicker, he has a family, and hes a better match in size and blood group. As the team leader, i recommend we transport the heart to cedars. O. K. It makes sense. I can tell her. Its not going to happen, is it . It was a less than ideal situation with potential complications, so the call was to wait. So. How long do we wait, and what are the odds now . I cant say.
