"today in new york's" tracie strahan is in kingsbridge. >> reporter: i checked in with police a short time ago. they tell me this new surveillance video we're about to show you captures imagesgrf the alleged suspect just minutes aferter he slashed the manager of the mcdonald's behind me on broadway. you can see the man walking slowly down the street in the coat with a hooded sweatshirt underneath. he's carryin reg what appears to be a dark bag on his shoulder. police do believe he's the suspect that stabbed 28-year-old adam garcia around 4:28. garcia was a manager of the restaurant. asked the customer, possibly a homeless man to possibly leave, after being inside the restaurant for eight hours. the man came backstabbing garcia to death before fleeing. friends say the victim i'mply a family man who was jus trying to do his job. >> the last time i saw him was here before christmas. he told me happy new year. if i don't see you, i love you. >> people in the area know him. he comes in often o the restaurant. >> again, here is your look at that newly released surveillance video from the nypd showing the alleged suspect in this case. bring you back live now, you can see a memorial has been set up restaurant for adam garcia who leaves behind a five-year-old son. michael, they say he was going to seek other job opportunitiesc and was looking forward to that. >> such a sad story. thank you very much. this morning we are getting a look at two m wanted for nine daytime apartment burglaries in queens. these men were behind the break-ins between october and december. the last break in on december nd a woman came home a found them in her apartment. they were scared away. if you know them, call police. the bronze man accused of shooting his wife on christmas morning will be in court today. he was arraigned yesterday. he shot his wife during an argument on christmas morning while their two young children were sleeping upstairs. she was hit in the arm and neck but survived. a 15-year-old brooklyn girl her mother and her mother's girlfriend. it shows destiny garcia being taken into custody. she was accused of killing 30-year-old rosie sanchez and porice say garcia said she was being abused. according to investigators there are no signs that the killings were in self-defense. today president obama plans to tell americans how he plans to tighten gun sale rules working out the details with attorney general loretta lynch. nowsse're expect being expanded rules on background checks. paul ryan condemned the move calling it executive overreach. and in oregon a standoff newspaper. a van slams into a building in the bronx and sends several people to the hospital. we'll show you the skeechb. bruckner boulevard and brown place. a van hit two other vehicles, jumped the curb, smashed through the doors of the storage facility. eight people were taken to area hospitals. officials say their injuries were not life threatening. nobody was seriously hurt after an ambulette crashried in macanhattan. the driver lost control and plowed into a scaffold which collapsed on the vehicle. now this all happened near the hospital's emergency room on east 70th street. very crowded area there. no passengers in the ambulette the driver was treated for minor injuries. in boklyn vectors ruled a deadly new year's day house fire was accidental. it killed michael floyd and it was deemed puspicious because the flames started in the stai drwell in the brown stone. the fire was caused by someone smoking in the home. police are offering a $10,000 reward for the death of a volunteer firefighter. justin spate's family is pleading for people to come forward. the 20-year-old was stabbed to death w en he was trying to break up a fight. as many as 100 people were at the new year's eve party where he died. grand jury has indicted a man for an alleged hate crime. the victim was punched in the face last month by a man who said he wanted to, quote, kill muslims. the accused attacker from jacksonville, florida, was released yesterday on his own recould go any sanction. he is due back to court next month. bill cosby are trying tothelay his wife's scheduled deposition. tomorrow camille cosby's expected to answer questions in a defamation lawsuit against her husband. the lawsuit was brought by seven of the more than 50 women who claimed cosby assaulted them. they claimed cosby called them liar. he's counter suing. a south carolina p rolman pat the center of a racially arged shooting death is free now on a half million bond. the judge yesterday released north charleston officer michael slager bec ause his trial is not going to get underway until late be tober. he's been held there at the jail since last april. that's when slater was charged with murdering walter scott. video appears to show scott running away and unarmed when he was shot. this morning some west chester county students are heading back to school after an unexpected holiday extension. year's eve the hourly minimum wage for tip restaurant workers also increased to $7.50 an hour. in a news 4 exclusive we learned that cost iseing passed on to you. york state's minimum wage mandate. the restaurant says it's to help pay the mandate but the city says it's illegal. >> it violates the city law. you're at risk of a $500 per plate essentially fine. >> they think they should abide by new york law. >> hillstone says the charge is clearly stated on the menu and the bill and doesn't bel ve it's illegal. the city says if you see the surcharge on your bill you should file a complaint with consumer affairs. new jersey's most populus county, bergen counin, has a new prosecutor. he'll hold the prosecutor's job in the garden state. he comes from the u.s. attorney's office in newark and before that in brock lynn. gray wall will serve as acting prosecutor until he can be confirmed by the state senate. today staten island's borough president appeals to landlords. james otto is hoping to get short-term leases for people still rebuilding their homes. he'll be making an announcement the staten island band said there are few that are underway. a fast food spot will stay closed for a little while longer. chick-fil-a voluntarily closed last week after being cited for health code violations. among them, improperly refrigerated food and fruit flies. the restaurant was supposed
