creating the mission system in california. there's been some controversy. native americans say he was brutal or protected the spaniards and their brutal methods, but it's expected to be a rich course, the nypd has a team in washington right now tomorrow the pope arrives here. his biggest event takes place in central park. katherine creag is on the upper west side with a look at the preps for the pope's arrival. >> reporter: and this is really something to see. something that went up overnight. this is new, and a lot of the people around here have never seen anything like this. it's an eight-foot fence now surrounding the west side of central park. we're waiting to find out if it's also on the east side of central park. you see these workers here in their fluorescent vests and hard hats. they've been putting up this eight-foot fence all around the perimeter of central park south of 81st street. we're on 66th street on central park west. this is another element of security to keep the pope safe. on thursday and friday when he's here, pope francis will be visiting midtown, downtown, and east harlem just to name a few. very steel an concrete barricades in those places. already there's a steel fence and barricades around the park. police officers have been on patrol around here for days now at specifically assigned spots. at least 25 bus lines will be affected. many acknowledge it will be an inconvenience but say the pope's visit will be well worth it. >> for him to come to spanish harlem is definitely a blessing. we need something like this around here. >> reporter: the pope will visit with school children at our lady queen of angels. we've seen a lot of orange cones around there. expect steel barricades and concrete barricades. as for the pope's procession here at central park, we've mentioned it before, you need a ticket to get in. people will go through security machines, their bags, anything on them will be x-rayed as well. >> it is no will lead them to the two men who robbed a deli in brooklyn. they're asking you to take a good look. police say the men entered the cosmic newsstand in flatbush monday night. they took off with $1500 from the cash register. nobody was injured. also new this morning, an investigation under way after several nooses were found hanging from a tree at the university of delaware. they were found last night in the same area where students held a black lives matter demonstration just the night before. police say they're investigating this case as a hate crime. students plan to hold another rally this afternoon. a new jersey doctor is now behind bars accused of sexually assaulting one of his pa tients. he's now facing criminal sexual conduct charges. police say the 61-year-old neevurologisngimproperly touched a 37-year-old woman during examinations in his office. the victim says this happened at least two times. bail right now set at $100,000. the mother of a rutgers football player now facing charges for the same fight that got him suspended from the team. rutgers university police have arrested the mother of the star wide out carroo. she was charged for the on-campus incident that happened earlier this month. also charged, 20-year-old maria vega and 50-year-old juan vega. maria was involved romantically with carroo and the altercation woman. fbi says they have the e-mails that hillary clinton said she deleted. bloomberg neve first reported the agents recovered personal and state correspondence from that private server. right now the fbi is investigating why classified information got into the server. just yesterday a federal judge ordered the state department to speed up its review of those e-mails. chinese president xi jinping is in seattle today where he's talking about cyber crime. he says he's ready to open high-level talks with the united states to fight hackers. he claims that the chinese government never broke into computers to steal corporate sec ets. xi goes to washington tomorrow to meet with president obama. they may announce an agreement not to wage cyber warfare during peacetime. 4:40 right now. ahead this boyfriend say they were sitting on their porch withha friend in february when the officer approached them and began making threats. they then recorded and posted that video on facebook. last nights hundreds of people rallied outside passaic city hall, calling for tough disciplinary action against that officer. >> they were telling him they were going to call immigration hisow family, to unlock his phone. they don't have reason to do that to us. we know our rights. >> the mayor of passaic is asking for calm and restraint while the city investigates. a former nypd officer now admitting to randomly firing shots at a car after a night of drinking. bran con cronin pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges. he says he downed ten alcoholic drinks while t dy and opened fire on pellham street. he's expected to be sentenced to nine years behind bars. we're expecting an announcement from mayor de blasio and cardinal dolan when they go to a homeless shelter in the bronx. they're going to patrol 125th street. that area has a methadone clinic. homeless people on the street and easy access to the dangerous synthetic drug knowndes k-2. >>5"heue's a lot of it being distributed out of bodegas. that was a significant factorattractiveness. >> the 38 officers assigned to a harlem patrol will get special training on peddler enforcement and crisis interven yon. moving to connecticut right now, police releasing surveillance video of one of the men wanted in a string of car break-ins. stanford police say the thieves hit about 20 cars, and that was just last weekend. more than 200 since august. they steal from one car, quickly move on to another, as you can see here. last weekend, these thieves hit cars on grove street near the high grove apartments. so far, police have caught just one of them. and in rockland county now, somebody's going on a shooting spree with a bb gun. clarks town police say a dozen cars in valley cottage were damaged on monday. some of them had their windows shattered. investigators are poring over home surveillance videos in the homes of spotting a suspect. they're asking everyone to keep an eye out for suspicious or unusual activity. a brooknen community is calling for an end to violence after a massive street fight. it happened across from the barclays center. two teens seen being pummelled on the ground. two teenagers have been arrested so far. community advocates are calling for parents to turn in anyone else who was involved. >> bring your child forward bauds if because if you don't, you're sendin the wrong message that what they did that nearly every american seeking health care help will be misdiagnosed at least once in their life. about half of those misdiagnoses could lead to death. that's what happened to a 12-year-old boy from queens. he cut his arm in gym class one day. that led to a blood infection that his parents say was caught too late. >> our son died, and our son died despite us raising our concerns that there was something wrong. we were told over and over again that this was a stomach virus. >> so scary. the report from the institute of medicine recommends improving communication between doctors, nurses, and lab workers, and stick to your guns. if you feel like something is wrong, push. it also urges patients to ask more questions about your tests and your diagnoses. a drug company executive accused of price gouging is now lowering the cost of an important medication. he's 32 years old. he came under fire after raising the price of daraprim overnight by 5,000%. $750. this is him on cnbc. the drug fights infections in a.i.d.s. and cancer patients. at first he refused to drop the price. he later gave in. now to another disturbing incident on the high school football field. a student in los angeles accused of smearing icy hot or some sort of similar heat rub in the face of one of his opponents. it happened in a game earlier this month. the player wearing the blue rub on the other player's face. look at him. he had to go to the sideline. >> i saw him hunched over walking to the sidelines, and i knew that something malicious had just happened. >> it looked as if it was gobbed into his glove. the gloves disappeared as soon as that play was over. >> honestly, what is wrong? the player decided not to press charges. it's disgraceful. the school's athletic director said the michael gargiulo. >> i'm kerry barrett. the sad reaction to that news is pouring in. we're going to share some memories and actually going live to his museum in a couple minutes. we're also following another big store. team coverage of the pope's visit to the united states. first, we want to check in with chris and the forecast. >> it's autumn officially now. temperatures feel very autumnal this morning. city holding at 60. we may slip into the upper 50s before the morning is through. a lot of 40s in northern new jersey. low 60s down the jersey shore. the sky is nice and clear. stays that way for the most part today. nothing more than a cloud here or there mixing in. 74 and forecasting a high today of around 80. the rest of your forecast on the 4s. right now, early check on the commute from lauren. >> overall, the roads look good. we're going to look at some of our area crossings starting with the brooklyn bridge. heading into the tolls here, no delays, no roadwork getting in your way. just keep in mind that you're going to need your easy pass if you're headed to the lower level or using the palisades approach. lincoln tunnel and holland tunnel, in for a nice ride. brooklyn bridge, roadwork shutting down the manhattan side of the span. things still moving along smoothly through this area. we'll have more weather and traffic coming up. now we do want to get to that sad breaking news we have learned about just overnight. the death of yogi berra. overnight his museum confirmed that yg died at the age of 90. this morning condolences and memories with being shared online. michael george is in little falls, new jersey. this is the site of the yogi berra museum. michael, as you've been rting, this happened just hours ago, but already there's been a huge reaction, a huge outpouring of love for yogi berra. >> reporter: absolutely, michael. no doubt he was one of the greatest to ever wear yankees pinstripes, but yogi berra was more than that. he was one of the most beloved athletes of all time. all morning we've been hearing from his fellow yankees. berra died of natural causes at his home in west caldwell, new jersey, at the age of 90. he got his start in yankees pinstripes in 1946. he was one of the greatest clutch hitters of all time. he was a 15-time all star, brought home ten world championships. he was a three-time mvp and hall of famer. but he was enormously popular off the field as well. he stormed the beaches of normandy on d-day. and his quotes are legendary. he was called the philosopher king of baseball. tim russert once asked him about it on "meet the press." >> when you come to a fork in the road -- >> take it. we got a street back home that wen th have one. >> half the things i said, i never said. >> oh, boy. tell you the truth, tim, i don't even know i say these things. i really don't. >> and this morning the yankees organization tweeted, we are deeply saddened by the loss of a yankees legend and american hero yogi berra. and dave winfield tweeted, say it ain't so. and his work didn't finish with he took off his uniform. he became an advocate for gay and transgender athletes. back to you. >> so much more to while the pope will head to the white house before riding through the streets of washington, d.c. thousands are lining up already, getting ready for that amazing sight tomorrow. pope france is is traveling here to new york, his biggest event taking place in central park where 80,000 people are gathering hopefully just to get a glimpse of the holy father. katherine creag is live with a look at the preparations. >> reporter: you've never seen so much activity here at 5:00 in the morning. we have new video just in to our newsroom. what we've been seeing out here, construction workers, dozens of them. what they did overnight, really just a few hours ago, they put up an eight-foot-tall fence that surrounds this side, from what we can see. central park west south of 81st street. but it's also on the other side of the park along 5th avenue. eight feet tall.
