Enjoying this new year s eve. Perfect here in oarsman. Jugglers in the street, live music, people are dancing in the streets all over, just having a really good time on this last day of 2015. I like to come here, dance look at the lights and just have fun. Suzanne framed as a familyfriendly event, first night is known as the alcohol free alternative Community Celebration on december 31st. Im so excited. It s great to bring in the new year. I used to come here when i was younger, but the first time i lived here for 2 years, my every year. So far it s outstanding. I come every year. Suzanne for others they are first times to first night. It s nice, it s nice, it fun. Hotel, it s a good time. Suzanne portsmouth s downtown area is transformed into a winter time carnival complete with an Ice Sculpture, face painting, activities for the youngsters, and dancing in the streets for kids of every age. Everyone seems to have something that they like best about 1st night. I get to see all the lights and stuff. The snow. Just all the people. Good food, it it s a really nice time. Fireworks. Tom many celebrated the new year a little early at Hampton Beach tonight. The fireworks went of at 8. And thanks to the nice weather, some people enjoyed surfing at hampton on the last day of 2015. Claremont held its own new years celebration tonight. Events kicked off around 6 00 p. M. With live music and magic shows. The Community Center was open for swimming and indoor laser tag. And they set off fireworks at 10. All the festivities were free and people are welcome until midnight. It s an exciting event, its great to be a part of. People are excited. The buzz has been great. Sponsored the event. The city hopes to host its own first night again next year. Many of you are out enjoying the 2016 celebrations in mild temperatures. With a temperature of 35 right little bit of melting going on, falling back toward freezing within the next couple of hours it s just below freezing but that will not help the situation as they continue to slowly melt. From here through the upper midwest so we will hang on to the dry weather for now, but changes coming on sunday in the form of some very cold temperatures later in the day. Tom overseas a warning of a , serious threat by islamist extremists tonight in germany. Authorities asked people to stay away from two train stations and big crowds in munich. The warning came out about an hour before germany rang in the new year. Officers say 57 suicide bombers were planning the attack. Despite the warning, thousands gathered for fireworks. And thankfully, there was no attack. A fire broke out at a skyscraper in dubai just before thousands celebrated the new year. At least 14 people were injured in the 63 story hotel and Apartment Building fire. But as the building burned, firework displays went on as scheduled. About 15 minutes before midnight, witnesses heard explosions inside the burning building. But its not clear what caused the blasts or what started the fire. Right now about one million drop in times square. Luke bryan, demi lovato and Carrie Underwood are performing tonight. Nearly 6000 Police Officers and members of a specialized counterterrorism unit are patrolling the area. Hundreds of additional security cameras and radiation detectors were added to the area. Tom a man is facing charges in connection to a robbery in berlin last saturday. Police say a man pointed a pistol at the store clerk at berlin mills Variety Store and demanded money. Officers located the suspect inside his home on hillsboro s treet in berlin and arrested ryan morton this morning. He s charged with Armed Robbery and will be in court for a bail hearing on monday. Next week, president obama is expected to take action to expand background checks on gun sales. An anonymous individual with a gun control Advocacy Group made the announcement before the Obama Administration released details. The white house has not confirmed the timing, but a spokesperson says president obama expects to take action on gun violence soon. And recommendations submitted to obama include measures to expand background checks. Several New Hampshire laws go drivers will face increased fines for failing to yield to an Emergency Vehicle or passing a school bus. If you pass a stopped school bus, you ll pay a 500 fine and have your license suspended for 30 days. For failing to yield to an Emergency Vehicle, fines increase from 100 to 150. And fines for speeding in a 70 Miles Per Hour will increase incrementally up to 400. Hundreds of thousands of workers in massachusetts will get a pay raise tomorrow. Starting january first the state s minimum wage changes from 9 to 10 per hour. And as part of a plan passed in 2014, it will go up again in january of 2017 to 11 an hour.
