top stories in a minutes. chris, chris jarzynka is here with a look at the forecast. how is the forecast. chris: hi, amy, how are you? >> great. chris: at least i'm not talking about the warmest day, it's not balmy weather, it's october, we expect weather like this. we have an area of high pressure moving in and my knee jerk reaction would be to say it's going to be bright and dry. chilly in the 20's and low 30's. we have some clouds coming in right off the coast and these clouds are going to make things rather cloudy for southeastern areas of new hampshire today. at the same time we have a batch of clouds moving in from the west. they're high and thin and thicken up, so it's a squeeze play. nice and dry, highs in the 40's and 50's and we have what patricia has in store for new hampshire in minutes. amy: speaking of hurricane patricia. she continues to slam parts of mexico. the storm, which is one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded made landfall yesterday evening as a category 5 miles per hour. the hurricane is now weakened to a category 1. there are reports of mud and landslides, but no fatalities. mexico transportation secretaries say they're not letting their guard down yet. patricia is moving over a mountainous region that's in danger of landslides, as well as flash flooding. a father in franklin is accused of holding his one-month-old baby hostage. thinks were called to the home of carroll for domestic violence. they found carroll in the door holding his door and threatening to stab police officers if they stepped on his property. they got him after a brief struggle. the department f of tobacco and fierm firearms, they're tasked with heroin as well as misuse of alcohol. the state is expect today match or exceed the number this year. >> we have a profound problem with addiction in the state and it happens that a substantial of alcohol is still killing more people overall than heroin and other drugs. amy: the commission did decide to continue funding the state's drug czar position. right now, a grant is paying for that position. that runs out at the end of the year. it's not clear yet if current czar jack wozmack will keep the position. and police arrested 41-year-old john murray thursday night on an outstanding warrant. when they took him in custody they say they found $8700 worth of suspected bath salts in his possession possession. suspended canterbury police chief is acued of assaulting a 15-year-old girl years ago. he's now charged with seven felonies included six counts of aggravated felonious sex assaults between january of 1999 was 16 to 17 years old. laroche was a bosscowan police officer at the time. in canterbury laroche is on paid administrative leave. >> we have to wait for the outcome of the process and this indictment is the next step in the progress. an indict is not a conviction. we'll advise our citizenry. amy: laroche asked everyone not to make any judgments until the evidence is presented. the pumpkin festival gets underway in laconia this morning, the first time it's held in laconia after riots broke out in the event in keene last year. organizers say they are ready to move on. stephanie woods has the story. stephanie: the pumpkin was lit up the first time in laconia. they want to wipe out what happened last year and carve out a new history. >> i want to talk about pumpkins, bring your pumpkins. stephanie: this is the first year the pumpkin festival will in the city and the chamber of commerce is pumped about the boon to business. >> we're so excited to have this event and everyone has really come together so i'm waiting for tomorrow to come. >> organizer, is trying to break the 2013 record of 30,581 lit jack o lanterns. let's get all of new england and show what it's like when you put all of those pumpkins together stephanie: keene city refused a permit after teens rioted on the festival campus leading to more than 120 arrests. >> don't ever let the bad guys win, ever. let it shine. up in the bahamas. the search is on for el faro's data recording. the recovery teams for the black box have only one week before it stops sending signals. 33 people, including americans were on the ship when it vanished. a campus alert on harvard involving a student. she says she was chased to her dorm and was able to lock the suspect out just in time. it happened at a harvard affiliated complex called holding green. the victim says she was taking her puppy out for a bathroom break. she saw a mini-van pull up. and she did not want to be identified. >> i started to have a sick feeling and trusted my gut and walked back to my apartment. when i got to the building, i turned around and there was a man running full force at me. she says the man hit the door with his first and then drove off in the mini-van. they're advised to walk in pairs. some people take the golden state name literally. two men came to the city of auburn and tried to go unnoticed, but a man heard them tapping the storm drain. >> and i thought who on earth would crawl into a storm drain looking for gold. >> i've known about it for years, and i've even been down there. >> have you ever found anything? >> yeah, but i ain't saying what. amy: the city manager says besides dangerous, this sort of digging is trespassing. the city hopes that the prospect of being arrested keeps future gold hunters above ground. cool day today, warmer one tomorrow. we have an area of high pressure that's moving in overhead. normally that means nice, clear skies and for the most part that's the case over the next hours and allowed temperatures to drop, 32 out at the coast, but we do have an airflow situation which i'll talk about in a minute here. i don't know if you can see this very thin, but there's a line of low clouds hovering along the coastline and along the high pressure, this is going to start to move the cloud bank in on cloudy. and at the same time, we have a bah much-- we have a batch off to the west. they'll thicken ahead of an area of showers, mainly after midnight and after those showers moved through by 9:00 or 10:00 tomorrow morning, we have a warmer sunday afternoon in store and then our attention turns to the south from the remnants what was once-- is hurricane patricia. it will be coming later on wednesday to early on thursday. today, crisp and dry. more clouds along the coastline in southeast new hampshire. highs in the 40's and 50's. temperature-wise because the clouds will keep the temps cooler at the shore and most of the sun will be up north and that will get your temps into the 40's and upper 50's. it's around 50 and it's pretty dry today, not terribly bright. overnight tonight, it's cloudy, not terribly cool though because the showers roll in from west to east. the clouds act like a thermal blanket keeping the temperatures from free falling like they did last night. there are showers off to the west and lows dropping to the upper 30's and mainly lower to mid 40's. that's warmer than we were all day last sunday. just to remind you and frame this thing. and then for tomorrow, not bad, i mean, not super bright, especially in the morning, showers kicking out of here by 10:00 in the morning. we get sun coming in from southwest to northeast, could be a few leftover showers up north in the 50's, but the rest of us in the upper 50's, lower 60's, that's not too bad. the morning showers give way to afternoon sun. there's a cold front tomorrow evening and we get back to the 50's. it's late october after all, morning and there it is late on wednesday and into thursday, the remnants of patricia along with a regular old storm system are going to bring rain through here, after that rain pushes out we could easily get back into the mid and upper 60's before then cooling back off into the 50's for the tail end of the week. if you're trick-or-treating on the day, which would be next saturday. it doesn't look too bad. it's pretty average cooks corner and savory. and this is apple season, if you have squishy ones, it's a great time to use them up. i like to use the fuji and galas. you want them chopped up as finally as light shredded cheese, not talking big chunks. took it in the microwave as you can see. here i have got -- this in fact is king arthur's gluten-free, but i've made it with trader joe's blend and including the original recipes for wheat flour. basically any flour you like. this would be half a cup of any flour. it's got a bit of baking powder to give it a bit of a puff and i use trader joe's cinnamon spice. and trader joe's is so much cheaper than everywhere else. and i like to use this substitute. pancakes? plus, you're not getting the cholesterol and fat and works well. i wouldn't use it if it didn't taste good. and there's no milk in it. if you thought i forgot the milk. it's half a cup of egg, and half a cup of flour, easy to remember. this is olive oil just in there. and these are the sweet ones, a little bit of sugar and obviously adjust the sugar depending on the family, but i also do with it fresh sage. option, too hot now. fresh sage and cooked onions so it's great for breakfast tore dinner with meats and makes about ten in total. and this is just a heaped tablespoon scoop. and very, very quick because the apples are already cooked. >> with the small shavings. >> and they're what are called silver dollar, they're not like american pancakes, but they're real good. real good is gluten-free when you know what you're doing and that's what it comes down to. >> and some people with gluten-free, or not necessarily gluten-free, it's taste. what is the-- >> having me show you how to do it. i've written a column for national celiac so that's an awful lot of recipes. but a vegetarian dish, next month it's the pumpkin cheesecake i did on here a few weeks ago and left over ham rolls with vegetables and everything. i try from kid friendly to adult, and tiramisu. and i know what it mexico. the storm made landfall last night as a category 5. it's now downgraded for a category 1. and a shirtless robber held up mcdonald's at gun point. and it will not be cutting power to residential customers who paid their bill, but the moratorium will not hold for customers. first, let's check in with chris jarzynka in the weather center. >> you were talking earlier about how, i'm not advertising the coldest weather of the had temperatures in the 20's last week, but it's not exactly warm out this morning, either. 21 right now in berlin from the valley hospital camera. let's take a look at what it's doing temperature-wise. we have some clouds trying to sneak in from the coast and the west and clear overnight and dip. we have the clouds working from the south and east, very, very difficult to see, but we have a line of clouds right along the coast line, and these will slowly start to sneak in thanks to a southeast wind today. at the same time we have some clouds coming in from the west, so it's a squeeze play today and that means not super bright weather. we'll call it partly sunny to be optimist optimistic, more clouds along the coastline and highs in the 40's and 50's. milder weather as the clouds and associated showers work their way tomorrow and what hurricane patricia or the remnants thereof have in store for new hampshire in a few minutes. >> one of the strongest earthquake hads ever recorded continues to bear down on mexico. hurricane patricia made landfall yesterday evening as a category 5 hurricane, backing wind speeds, and no word of any fatalities, but authorities are warning that the storm still could cause deadly floods and mudslides as it continues to dump rain. and patricia is threatening texas. a flash flood water will be through parts of the lonestar state through tomorrow morning. concord police are on the lookout for a shirtless robber who held up mcdonald's at gun point. surveillance shows the pan on fisherville road wearing only an mask and what looks like water shoes. he there end to kill the cashier if she didn't hand over the cash drawer. >> obviously, the weapon was seen and you can see that in several of the stills and some recognize that, it's unusual that we would have a robbery involving a large weapon, you know, a rifle or a shotgun, it's not typical and hoping it stands out in someone's mind. >> investigators say when the money. he grabbed the entire drawer and ran. the robber may have fled in a dark colored car. anyone with information is asked to call the concord crime line. a man from td garden called to check on him. he does, however, remain a loyal bruins fan. eversource energy says through the winter it will not shut off electricity to residential customers who have not paid their bills, but that does not affect commercial customers who pay late. as wmur's kristin carosa shows, many are thrilling to cut off power if they're not paid. the deposit request follows guidelines, but a business owners says he doesn't agree with the way the policy is being carried out. >> alan has owned al's auto service in laconia for more than two decades. >> for 21 years i've been here, never ever had the power shut buildings. >> he admits he paid his bill to eversource late at town, but eventually made his account currently, but he's been ordered to pay a $260 security deposit >> and if i don't pay it by the 29th or the 30th, from what i had they're going to come out and shut my power off. >> he gave them permission to discuss the account with us. he's received three disconnect notices in the past 12 months. >> for us it's a minimum two disconnect notices before we would request a deposit from the customer. and a disconnect would be when they pay it more than 60 days past when it was issued. >> and they're sent off four disconnect notices. eversource says the deposits are eventually given back with interest after one to two years of ontime payments. he thinks the security deposit is unnecessary, especially for someone with a currently up-to-date account, like his. >> you know, i might have been late a couple of times, whatever, but bottom line is, my bill is still paid. >> eversource says delinquent eversource customers who pay on time. >> and this deposit policy is in place to protect those customers because the millions of dollars of unpaid electric bills wind up being paid by everybody else. >> if you're having trouble paying the eversource bill reach out before you receive a shutoff notice. amy: a moving tribute in merrimack. i'm in for josh judge this morning, delighted to be here. we're not talking about the coldest weather of the season because it came last weekend. it's chilly out there, but we have clouds starting to surround new hampshire. they're up to no good. they're going to start to close in on us, but not be that productive, temperatures in the lower 30's, places like manchester out to the coast and of course, with our growing season done as of last weekend, it's not quite as big of a story. we're talking about the cloud surrounding us. we have some high clouds off to the west and these are moving in this direction and these clouds moving in this direction and they're going to squeeze us during the day today. you might ask, why are the clouds at least some of these clouds over the ocean moving to the west. usually they move west to east. that's because an area of high pressure is moving, and on the ground pushing them in and at the same time an approaching storm is bringing clouds at a higher altitude from the west. it's kind of a crossing pattern and these eventually do bring us some rain showers, for overnight tonight, really after midnight and more than likely, two or three in the morning, they're out of here by 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning, followed by some clearing and much warmer sunday afternoon. temperatures at least 10 degrees warmer than today. and let's talk about patricia. there could be five to ten inches of rain in drought stricken texas, that's good news. and that's too much too quickly for that area. by the way, here is the latest on the storm. 75 mile per hour winds, barely a hurricane, will reduce itself to a tropical storm or remnants by later on during the day today. so, speaking of the day today. no hurricanes here. crisp, dry, more clouds along the coast with clouds sneaking in from the shore. high clouds west, 40's and 50's, most of us around 50 degrees. thanks to clouds blanketing us and what little more we get during the day and showers from west to east. our temperatures won't follow that much. mainly into the low to mid 40's. the showers do the opposite and keep moving from southwest to northeast, we might have a few lingering in the mountains, but otherwise, partly sunny skies and our high temperatures are in the upper 50's to lower 60's. not too shabby. here is your next five days, featuring a cooldown once again for monday and tuesday, you see, there's a cool front coming through on sunday night. you know, not terribly unusual for this time of year, but we'll be back with highs in the lower to mid 50's. lows in the 30's, and then, my friend, late on wednesday, wednesday night and thursday, the moisture and the copious moisture that's left from patricia will move on through here and we could get a really solid soaking, a lot of wind, a lot of rain, and with enough warm air left over, i mean, this is, after all, a tropical storm, or the remnants of one moving through, she could warm up on thursday before look at hampton, it's 32 degrees, it's a little foggy. we've got low clouds coming off the ocean today. those low clouds will make it rather cloudy in southeastern new hampshire, as clouds are wont to do. these are higher thinner clouds and 30's. there are the clouds, some low ones from the east and high ones from the west, giving us a little bit of a squeeze play today. all in all, it shouldn't be all it won't be exceptionally exceptionally mild. for late october, we'll take it. i don't see what choice we have. highs in the 40's and 50's. i have temperatures 10 degrees warmer in the near-term concern is in purt erto villarta and the damage. amy: here a franklin, a father is reported to have holding his daughter, and threatening to stab officers with a screwdriver if they stepped on his property. s' facing charges, including child. prevention is deciding how it will send funding to deal with the state's growing drug abuse problems. they're tasked with dealing with the fight against heroin and misuse of alcohol. more than 320 people died from drug related overdoses last year. the state is expected to meet or exceed that sad number this year. >> we have a profound problem of addiction in the state. it happens that a substantial amount of it is heroin related. but alcohol is still killing more people overall than heroin and other drugs. amy: the commission decided to continue funding the drug czar position. right now a grant is paying for that job, but it runs out at the end of the year. it's not career if current czar will keep the position. a clairemont man is accused of possessing thousands in drugs. when they took him in custody they say they found 8700 worth of suspected bath salts in his possession. suspended capitalbury police chief is facing charges after being indicted by a grand jury. he's accused of assaulting a teenage girl more than 15 years ago. laroche was arrested in august, but is now charged with seven felonies, including six counts of aggravated felonious assaults happening between january of 1999 and august of 2000. when the girl was 16 to 17 years old. laroche was a boscowan police officer and he allegedly assaulted at the boat ramp. laroche is op paid administrative leave. the 25th annual new hampshire pumpkin festival gets underway in laconia. this is the first time since riots broke out in keene last year. organizers say they're ready to move on. stephanie woods has a preview of the festivities. >> volunteers have been hard at work and now, more than 900 jack-o-laterns are on the famous pumpkin tower, lit up in with recovering from black box has one week before the batteries stop sending signals. 33 people, including 28 americans were on the ship when it vanished. a frightening incident involving a student. she says she was chased to her dorm and managed to lock the suspect out in the nick of time. just before 4 a.m. friday at a harvard affiliated housing complex called holding green. she noticed a dark mini-van pull incident, but did not want to be identified. >> i started to get a sick feeling in my stomach and trusted my gut and started walking as fast as i could to the apartment. when i got to the steps that lead to my building, i paused to turn around and there was a man running full force at me. >> the victim says the man smacked the door with his fist and harvard police added extra patrols and are advising students to stay alert and walk in pairs. california is known as the golden state and some are taking that nickname quite literally. officials say two men came to the city of auburn and tried to mine for gold for several months. the men went unnoticed until a restaurant owner heard an unusual sound and opened his trap door and saw him tapping away at the storm drain. >> forecast. chris: hi, folks, chris jarzynka in for josh judge finishing off a well-deserved vacation and we're starting a weekend that's not too cool, not too hot although it's somewhat chilly right now. it shouldn't be all that bad, not terribly bright today and i'll explain why in just a moment. we're in the lower 20's up north. mid and upper 20's down south. a couple of things at the coast. a couple of things going on here, we've got a low batch of clouds, it's hard to see on the graphic, it's hugging the coastline, moving back to the west. at the same time, we have high clouds that are coming in in advance of the next system. a weak storm that moves through overnight tonight and those are mainly high thin clouds that are high up in the sky. the low clouds coming this way and you probably won't need to be a meteorologist to realize there might not be a ton of clouds because of the winds out of the southeast, if it was a few months ago, the sun would be strong enough to blow them away, but we're in fall and the sun is much weaker. here is the next storm, a line of rain showers, it's a cold front. ahead of it it will get warmer and there will be showers coming in overnight tonight. mainly after midnight. after that front moves away, we actually get sunshine for tomorrow around and it warms up. and cools off to the start of the week. talking about the remains, not the remains bus it's technically hurricane patricia, bringing in a ton of rain already into parts of texas and finds its way here. thanks to the clouds blowing off the association, high clouds the same time. temperatures in the 40's and 50's and we'll call it partly sunny on average, the brightest part of the state may be up in the north country and also the western part of the state in the upper 40's and lower 50's and the rest in the lower 50's as well. thanks to it being south and that keeps temperatures around the same. either way right around 50 today. and for overnight tonight, cloudy, not terribly cool. lows in the 30's and 40's, showers arrive after midnight in western new hampshire, they take pretty much their sweet time moving across the state through the morning hours of sunday and then eventually getting out of here by about 9:00 or 10:00 on sunday mork and once those move on by, it's not going to be completely sunny, but we should be at least partly sunny, a few lingering sprinkles up north. the rest, upper 50's to 60's and 10 degrees warmer than today. that's if i check my math correctly. 51, 60. it does cool down for monday and tuesday, not unseasonably cold. we'll be in the lower to mid 50's. and then, that remnants of patricia come in for late wednesday, so some rain arrives late in the day and it could really pour here, be very windy, too, that looks to clear out of here on thursday morning, if it does, there's enough tropical warm air left over from the passage of the storm that just like last thursday, it could get us in the mid to upper 60's and we cool gardens, invasive species, in today's we'll >> hi there, folks, new hampshire is being invited, not by aliens, but invasive species. here to talk about that is margaret hagan from the unh extension. how do we get rid of this without making it worse? >> it's not easy because the invasive species from other countries have no natural predators because they didn't evolve here, they tend to grow quickly and tend to produce and spread their seed quickly. they'll choke out native plant because wildlife need native plants to feed on. this is one of the common ones, this particular one you find a lot, sometimes being sold in the fall for wreaths because it's attractive. it's japanese bittersweet and the birds like the eat the berries and the seeds go through the digest seive season so you'll find it through river banks, places that don't get mowed very often, quite possibly in your own yard. >> yes, it could be in your yard. i've seen it before. >> this is a white flower in may that's sweet and lovely. this is the japanese knot weed or japanese bamboo that grows by the side of the road, eight to ten feet hall and this is one you have in your yard and put that and that's one you put in the thing is they have seeds. this is not the time to move them. chances are the seeds will drop and you'll have more plants. >> the time to deal with them is the summer or spring before they've flowered and start to go to seed. >> ok, if i have this in my properly? >> there are a variety of different ways. if you have some of the vines, cut them in the base and use an herb side or stump be gone on the base of the plant and translocate to the roots. if you have a stand of barbury or this rose, get a burn permit. you can dilling you can dig them out, but they come back and come back. >> they're resilient. >> yeah, the other thing you can do, you can use plastic, either pin tightly to the ground so the sun bakes them. those are common ways. the big deal in new hampshire, it's illegal to move a the lo of these plants around when they have living or potentially living plant parts because we don't want to spread them. >> i don't think a lot of people know that, the regulation there. >> right, we have a fact sheet how to dispose of them properly. if you want to learn more about the invasive plants themselves the department of agriculture has a really nice booklet on invasive top stories on the half hour. hurricane patricia continues to move across parts of mexico this morning. the storm made landfall last night as a category 5 hurricane and it's since been down gra i had had-- downgrade today a category 1. a search is on for a shirtless man. and we'll get to the stories and more, first, chris jarzynka in the weather center for a look at the forecast. chris: good morning, amy, just like last weekend, we're starting off chilly in the 20's, goffstown at 30 degrees, actually splashes of color there. and we do have, well, kind of a cloudy day today and i'll explain why, we're in the 20's and lower 30's, clouds coming at us from two directions today. low clouds sneaking in along the coastline, those are coming this way and then we've got high clouds and clouds will thicken up during the day from the west. it's the meteorology equivalent to baseball's squeeze play. the other clouds, you should see the clouds through them and make a milky appearance in the skies. upper 40's to lower to mid 50's and temps could be 10 degrees warmer than tomorrow and then track the remnants of earthquake had patricia and what it will do to our weather later on this week week. well, one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded does continue to bear down on mexico. hurricane patricia made landfall yesterday evening as a category 5 hurricane. packing wind speeds up to 165 miles per hour. that is weakened to a category 1 with sustained winds of 100 miles per hour. there's no word of fatalities, but they're warning that they could cause deadly flooding and mudslides as it continues to dump torrential rains. patricia is threatening to bring heavy rain to texas, white the state is dealing with intense flooding. meteorologists say up to 20 inches of rain has fallen in some areas and dozens of drivers were stranded and needed to be rescued as they found their cars in window high water. the rain is expected to continue all day. here in new hampshire, concord police are on the lookout for the shirtless robber who held up at mcdonald's at gun point. surveillance video shows the man walking into the restaurant on fisherville road, 1 a.m. on friday, wearing only a mask and shorts and what looks likes water shoes. police say he pointed a gun at the cashier and he would kill her if she did not hand over the cash drawer. >> you can see that in several of the stills, someone maybe recognizes that, it's unusual that we would have a robbery involving a large weapon, you know, a rifle or a shotgun, it's not typical, we're hoping that that is something that stands out in someone's mind. amy: when the clerk went to give him money, he took the entire drawer and fled. he may have been with a dark vehicle. a man from hollis has been indicted on charges of having child pornography. david pelusi is accused of exchanging information with part-time psychology professor assista azotea. azotea is also charged with those alleged conversation. a woman is accused of welfare fraud. according to documents amy venturini was collecting between march, up to this year when she agent. and collected $120,000 in food stamps and medical benefit, she was not intitled to. a man is recovering after a frightening fall at td gardens. he was at the bruins game when t-shirts were tossed into the stands between the second and third period. rose went to grab one of the shirts and in the chaos ended up falling seven rows down. >> i had reached out with my left hand in an effort to catch the shirt and i don't know what happened at that time, whether i was pushed, tripped, shoved, or stumbled. right wrist was caught between two chairs, severely hurt the left shoulder. hit my mouth on the way down and fortunately, i didn't lose any teeth. >> rose believes the rush for t-shirts created a dangerous situation, he thinks they should no longer be thrown into the stands and is disappointed that no one from td garden called to check on, but remains a for josh judge for the last weekend. we are talking about a weekend that's not going to be the coldest weekend thus far. that's because we had it last weekend. it's almost as cold. we are chilly in the 20's and lower 30's. lower 30's, places like manchester out to the coast. normally when you have an area of high pressure like we do today. you have nice, bright weather, it's nice and clear, today is going to be exception to that rule for a couple of reasons. one, the high pressure is working more north of us and the wind flow around it is going to catch some low cloudiness. you can almost see it on the map. bringing in in north boston and the north shore, and into our seacoast. we have higher clouds moving in and it will be a bit of a squeeze play awes two clouds at different levels move overhead and squeeze out the sun. it's the flow around the area of high pressure that's giving us the cloudness, at least along the coast, and the sun is too much like they would a month or two ago. we have the storm system showing up. the green indicating rain showers that works for overnight tonight and mainly out of midnight and tomorrow morning. and after that rolls through, it's a warmer sunday afternoon, interprets at least 10 degrees warmer than today. not an exceptional will i -- exceptionally bright day. they're over the mountains of mexico and here is the current position, still a 75 mile an hour wind, all he to i expect that to weaken to either a tropical storm or leftovers by about 3:00 afternoon our time. that's 11:00 pacific time. today, crisp and dry. there will be more clouds along the coast line thanks to the low cloudiness worked in on the shore and high clouds coming from the west and temperatures in the 40's and 50's and stuck in the middle with you, and partly sunny skies, too. partly cloudy, not terribly cool. especially for late october. upper 30's, low 40's. tomorrow, cloudy in the morning with a few showers, a few in the white mountains tomorrow afternoon. other than that, call it partly sunny on average and the high temperature through the veil of clouds into the upper 50's and mid 60's, and your next five days, it does for domestic violence. they saw him standing in the doorway with his daughter. they took him into custody after a brief strug. he's chasing charges, including endangering the welfare of a child. they're skiing how it will deal with funding to deal with the growing drug abuse programs. they're tasked with dealing with the fight against heroin as well as the misuse of alcohol. over 300 died from overdoses last year and the state is expect today match or exceed that sad number this year. >> we have a profound problem of addiction in the state. it happens to substantial amount is heroin related, but alcohol is still killing more people overall than heroin and other drugs. amy: the commission did decide to continue funding the state's drug czar job. right now, a grant pays for at that position, but that runs out at the end of the year. it's not clear if the current czar will keep the position. a clairemont man is accused of possessing synthetic drugs. when they took him into custody, they say they found $8700 worth of bath salts in his position. and canterbury chief is being indicted by a gj gnl, a grand jury. he's charged with seven felonies, including six counts of aggravated felonious sex assault and court documents say the assaults happened between january of 1999 and august of 2000 when the girl was 16 to 17 years old. he was a police officer at the time and supervised the department's explorer program. according to the indictment, he assaulted the alleged victim in a police cruiser at the police department and at the town's boat ramp. in canterbury laroche is on leave. >> we have to wait for the next step, an indictment is the next step. an indictment is not a conviction. if and when something changes we'll advise our citizenry. amy: laroche's attorney is asking people not to make any judgments until the evidence is presented. the 25th annual pump kip festival gets underway in laconia this morning. this is the first time the festival is held in laconia after riots broke out near the event in keene last year. organizers say they're ready to move on. stephanie woods has a preview of today's festivities. >> volunteers have been hard at 10 degrees warmer than today. and we also have the now tropical storm patricia remnants that will continue to rocket off to the north and east, already drenching a lot of texas, this area of the country expecting 5 to 10 inches of rain that will move through new hampshire later on this week. for today, crisp and dry weatherment more clouds along the coast and high clouds from the west. 40's apples at home, it's a great time to use them up. the kids won't eat the squishy ones. i like the fuji and gala. you winter them chopped up like shredded cheese. you don't want chuck. i've used gluten-free flour, and the includings recipe for flour. this would be half a cup of any flour. it's got a bit of baking powder to give it a bit of a puff. i use trader joe's pumpkin pie spice and trader joe's is so much cheaper than everywhere else. i like to use liquid egg substitute. this brand doesn't have onion and garlic, who wants onion and garlic and plus not the cholesterol and fat and works as well. i wouldn't use it if it didn't taste good. you can see how easy. there's no milk in it, if you thought i left it out, no, i haven't. just the egg holding it together. half a cup of egg and half a cup of flour. this is olive oil in there. as i was saying these are sweet ones adjust the sugar depending on the family. and i always do with it fresh sage-- oops, too hot now. i do it with fresh sage and it's good with breakfast or dinner with meats. this is very, very quick cooking because the apples are cooked already. if they were raw. >> the small shavings. >> yes. these are called silver dollars. they freeze well, not like an american pancake consistency, they're more soufflish. you can get checken sausage, but real food a gluten-free when you know what you're doing. >> a lot of people who want to be gluten-free, but doesn't need to be gloouten-free is taste. and having me teach you how to do it. this is a vegetable dish, totally vegetarian. next month the pumpkin cheesecake i did here a few weeks ago and left over ham rolls with your vegetables and everything so i try to go from kid friendly to adult indulgent. i do tiramisu and trifle. i know food in the move across parts of mexico this morning. the storm made landfall as a gra grade today a tropical storm. and a shirtless man held up an mcdonald's at gun point. they will not cut power to residential customers who have not paid their bill, but that does not hold for commercial customers. we'll get to the stories and more in a minutes. let' check with chris jarzynka for a look at the forecast. >> it's not too often, you can see the hot spot is the mountain, but it is. with the camera, they're in berlin, 22 degrees. you go up in elevation, you look at temperatures, it's 37 on top of mount washington and you might say why in the world is that? cold air is heavier than milder air and sinks to the valley when there's foe-- no wind at night. and that will reverse itself. we have high clouds moving from the with west and clouds will be pretty thick during the day today. the next brings us from the west and brings us showers tonight. milder weather comes our way for the second half of the weekend and what comes our way from the remnants of patricia later on this week in a few minutes. hurricanes ever has been down downgraded. and a category 5. miles per hour. fatalities. but authorities are warning that the storm could cause deadly floods and mudslides as it continues to dump torrential texas. a flash food watch will be in effect for parts of that state tomorrow morning. concord police are looking for a man who walked in an mcdonald's at gun point, 1 a.m. wearing only a mask, shorts and what looked like water shoes. police say he pointed a gun at the cashier, threatened to kill her if she didn't hand offense the cash drawer. >> obviously, the weapon is seen and you can see see that in several of the stills and someone maybe recognizes that, have a robbery involving a large weapon, a rifle or a shotgun. it's not typical so we're hoping that stands out in someone's mind. when the clerk went to give him money. he grabbed the drawer and left. he may have fled the scene in a dark colored car. a man from hollis has been arrested on charges of child pornography. he's accused of exchanging with part-time professor alyssa azotea. azotea is also charged in connection with those alleged conversations. a hudson woman is an i cued of committing welfare fraud, amy was a real estate agent. she collected food stamps and berths she was not entitled to. a man had a frightening fall at td gardens. george rose was at the bruins game wednesday night when t-shirts were tossed into the stands. rose went to grab one of the t-shirts and in the chaos ended up falling seven rows down. >> i reached out with my hand in an effort to catch the shirt and i don't know that happened, whether i was pushed, tripped, shoved, stumbled. right wrist was caught between the two chairs, severely hurt the left shoulder. hit my mouth. >> rose believes the rush for t-shirts created a dangerous situation. he thinks they should no longer be thrown into the stands and says he's disappointed that no one from td garden called on him to check on him, but he remains a loyal bruins fan. eversource energy says it will not shut off electricity to residential customers who have not paid their bills, but it does not affect commercial customers who pay late. as kristen carosa explains, many of those are upset that the utility is threatening to cut the power if deposits aren't paid. >> eversource says the deposit request policy follows public utilities commission guidelines. he doesn't agree with the way the policy is carried out. decades. >> for 21 years, i've been here, i've never had the power shut building. >> he admits he's paid his bill to eversource late a few times, but says he's always eventually made his account current, but he's been ordered to pay a $260 security deposit to keep his account open. >> and if i don't pay it by the i understand, they're going to shut my power off. >> raper gave ever source permission to discuss his commerce account with us. he's received three disconnect notices in the past 12 months. for us, it's a minimum two notices before we could request a deposit. and a notice would calm -- come if the bill is not paid within 60 days. the deposits are eventually given back with interest after one to two years of on time payments. he says he doesn't think it's necessary with someone with a currently up-to-date account like his. >> i might have been late a couple of times or whatever, but the bottom line, my bill is paid. >> eversource says that delinquent accounts do impact 90% of eversource customers who pay on time. >> and this deposit policy is in place protect those customers because millions of dollars of unpaid electric bills end up paid by everybody else. eversource says if you're having trouble paying the to the day. it's going to be a relatively cool finish and it's going to be kind of a cloudy finish, too, we'll talk about that in a second. first of all, here are our temperatures rights now. the warm spot, the warm spot in new hampshire. the warm spot in new hampshire. 37 degrees on top of mount not peculiar because colder air it down. the rest of us are 20's and 30's, temperatures will flip-flop, warmer at the ground than on top of mount washington this afternoon or my forecast has gone terribly wrong. we have some clouds moving in at the coast line. these are low clouds that wouldn't have been an issue. the low clouds, thanks to a developing southwesterly wind at the ground today. at the same time off to the west, we've got high clouds moving in advance of the next weather maker, they'll combine to give us a squeeze play and squeeze out sun. so partly on sunny on average and depending where you are. the showers roll through overnight tonight and after they roll through and get out of here by about 9:00 or 10:00 tomorrow sunny skies and a warmer afternoon on sunday. a lingering sprinkle or shower in the north country tomorrow afternoon. here, my friends is what is left of patricia. downgraded to a tropical storm. the rain ahead of patricia is literally flooding tech text and they've got five to ten inches of rain and some of that that's left over will be here, wednesday night and early on thursday. today, crisp and dry, we'll have more clouds along the coast line, thanks to the low clouds working and higher clouds to the west and what it means is a mainly cloudy day and a day that's very well mixed atmospherically. he know big temperature differences north, south, east, west, either side of 50 degrees, for overnight tonight. thanks to the clouds rolling in ahead of the next weather maker, it's not that chilly. only 39 to 45 as showers work in after midnight from west to east. most of the showers doesn't really hit the areas in southern and eastern new hampshire until around dawn and those lows will be in the 30's and 40's and then for the day tomorrow, what we're talking about, temperatures that could be at least 10 degrees warmer than today. and the showers get out in the morning, except up north. sun in the afternoon, it does cool back down as we work into the early part of the upcoming week with temperatures in the 50's and there comes that rain, the remnants of patricia, late on wednesday, wednesday night, it could really be rainy and windy here, thursday, we do hopefully clear out in the afternoon and if we do, we shoot through the 60's, because the one thing that the remnants of that tropical storm will bring in here is tropical air, for at least one day, in the 60's before cooling off the end of the week. >> the
