sean: good morning. i'm sean mcdonald. the moon is simply gorgeous. didn't even put headlights on this morning. it is a nice night. kevin: the window would be closed. it is chilly this morning. we have started off with temperatures in the mid 30's in the north country with patchy frost. even a few western spots the potential there with temperatures in the upper 30's to near 40 degrees. we're at 43 in the monadnock region. you notice the clear skies. thick fog has formed in we're as cold as 35 in whitefield and as warm as hah 49 in manchester. highs today in the low to mid 70's. we'll talk about when the next system arrives coming up. let's look at your friday morning ride here in the granite state. we're joined live by deb davidson. happy friday, deb. deb: happy friday. we have fog slowing things down as you make your way from tilton to foggy at the 293 split. 293 is foggy from the hooksett area. then the fog lifts and it is all right. 101 is okay from bedford to hampton. all this morning. no arrests have been anun erin: the state attorney's general office is leading the investigation after a man was shot in the chest near the intersection of merrimack and beach streets wednesday night. ray brewer is following the case live for us in manchester. ray: an autopsy was completed yesterday. investigators have ruled the death a homicide. details are still very scarce. now investigators saying that a manchester native, 25-year-old was shot. police were called just before 7:00 wednesday evening. they have focused on a car at the scene. they will not say what connection the car has to the case. >> i've noticed a lot more police volume. definitely. it seems like it has gotten a lot worse. it terrifies me. especially for people with children and, you know, we've got a park right down the street. we have kids riding their scooters. it is absolutely horrible. sean: the investigation remains very active. police would like to hear from anything whom might have some information about the case. reporting live in manchester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: thank you. new this morning, a homeless woman from concord is accused of attacking a police officer after driving drunk and crashing. list of charges. she crashed into a driveway. when police arrested her, she assaulted an officer. she was drunk, her license was suspended, and she was already out on bail for charges in concord. sean: a laconia man is accused of threatening to blow up the city's police station. 45-year-old warren bears was armed with a machete tee and threatened to blow up the department using a propane tank. squad was called. bear is charged with criminal threatening and deadly weapon with use of a molotov cocktail. >> it is concerns that someone was making threats to blow up the police department. he had taken a substantial step toward doing that was very concerning. we are happy he was taken off of the street without incident and nobody was harm. sean: bears told them he was mad at police because they ruined after he was arrested on a drug charge. erin: salem arrested two alleged heroin dealers. they received many complaints. police finally witnessed a deal. 44-year-old christopher reinhold, who lives at the house, is charged with selling drugs. police did seize nine grams of heroin. se: picking pumpkins. the drought is causing problems. the soil is so dry it is hard to absorb any water. the pumpkins they do have are about half of the size they should be. at sunny crest farm in londonderry, they've been trucking in water. they lost entire patches of pumpkins. >> it is the driest i've ever seen it. it is the driest of all of the generations that are still alive has ever seen it. sean: hick says he's not sure if there are plenty of pumpkins for anyone who wants to come and pick their own. it is that time of year. the bear hunting season in new hampshire is two weeks old. it seems to be average so far. about 300 bear haves been killed so far. despite the lack of food, conditions are improving thanks to acorns and apples. officials are asking hunters to avoid killing any bears wearing radio collars. they are being used to >> interesting. still ahead, stuck trucks are a serious problem on a scenic road in vermont. officials hope to prevent traffic tieouts. sean: this week's hometown hero is a standout football player. his greater system. the details on that coming up. erin: kevin, thank you. transportation officials in vermont are trying to figure out how to help keep trucks and buses from getting stuck on one of the scenic roads. sean: that's right. part of route 108 is known as the notch road. it is only open five months out of the year. it is so narrow that trucks and buses often get stuck. in fact, it has happened eight times this year. 45 times since 2009. now the state is looking to improve signage and is asking technology companies to provide alerts to truck drivers through their gps units. this guy is hoping to lead the windham high school football team back to the division ii game. victor pizzotti run for 13 yards and has scored four times in two game this is year. off of the field, victor is death for children and about a quarter are from brain cancer. there are still more cases of leukemia each year, but treatment has longer. sean: the manchester school district is putting out a plea for a substitute teacher. there's a shortage of subs across the country, including in manchester. you do need to have a degree. your schedule must be flexible. your phone may ring before sunrise. subs in manchester get $70 a day. para professional subs get $10 an hour. president obama has officially created the first national monument in the atlanti the cannons and sea mounts marine covers five miles. evening. more on that in a moment. for the time being the big headline is the cooler temperatures. about as chilly as we've been this season in several locations, including lower and mid 30's up north. we're in the lower 40's out west and either side of 50 degrees in south eastern areas. it comes with a good deal of clear skies. we've had some fog form overnight. that should burn off slowly in western and northern areas. system coming through the central planes. they will try to link up over what is a non-existent, and previously tropical system as it continues to wander off of the east coast. temperatures in the 30's. a few upper 30's in western areas within including keene down to 38. we're at 41 in concord. 48 in portsmouth. they were just looking at the record lows to get an idea. 37 is the record low. 17. nowhere near that early this morning. again as cool as we've been so far this season in quite a few areas. down to a third of a mile or less in a few western and north western areas of the state this horning of we are looking at temperatures running another five, six, seven degrees cooler. it is the second night of the area of high pressure. usually it is lighter comes with a good deal of sunshine which will start to turn on shore at the coast for the afternoon. area of high pressure is in control through the day tomorrow. another banner day if you are kind of looking at all of this through a window at work. well, tomorrow evening west a sometime later tomorrow evening or early on sunday. i think the lion share of the activity will be on the daylight hours on sunday. as you notice and pick a location here, it isn't an all day rain. there already some showers around. they will be most organized. it is going to try to link up moisture from what all of the area of precipitation down to the south. if it does, we can see two-thirds of an inch of rain maybe over an inch of rain before it winds down on monday. break the drought. any sort of rainfall is office has identified the man shot and killed wednesday night in manchester. the victim identified as 25-year-old jonathan vazquez ojeda. he was shot in the chest and died later at the hospital. to merrimack street just before 7:00 wednesday evening. they have focused on a car at the scene. they are not saying at this point what connection the car has to the shooting. erin: a concord woman is accused of attacking a police officer after driving drunk and crashing. laura fortin faces a list of charges. she hit a mailbox in dunbarton and crashed into the driver wednesday evening. it is time at the weekend forecast in just a moment. sean: i spent a good ten minutes shutting windows. it was cold out in a moment. the attorney general's office has released the name of a man killed in a shooting wednesday night. 25-year-old jonathan vazquez ojeda died of a gunshot wound to the chest. a driver is recovering after crashing her car into an apartment building in dover. londonderry police are asking for your help tracking down a driver that hit a pedestrian plane field. it was just beautiful. kevin: after a chilly start, we are going to be same. we get it again tomorrow. the next investigation continues this morning into a deadly shooting in manchester. erin: police say a man died after being shot at the intersection of merrimack and beach streets wednesday night. no arrests have been made. ray brewer live. he's at the manchester poliep investigation. good morning, ray. ray: good morning, erin. there's no doubt that people living in the area are on edge as police try to figure out what lead up to the homicide. it was just after 7:00 p.m. on wednesday when manchester police say they found 25-year-old jonathan vazquez ojeda suffering from a gunshot wound at the intersection of merrimack and beach streets. he later died at the hospital. vazquez ojeda's death was a gunshot wound to the chest. he certified the manner of his death as a homicide. ray: there was a car in the center of the crime scene. they aren't saying if the victim was inside when he was shot. the homicide coming after several recent reports of shots being fire in the area. >> i've noticed a police department. reporting live, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: thank you. new on "daybreak" this morning, an building. fire officials say the driver was on route 155 yesterday afternoon when she went off of the road and crashed into an apartment building. no one inside the building was hurt. the driver was taken to the hospital. this time there's no word on her condition. the building sustained minor damage. sean: new this morning, a teen from seabrook is facing charges in connection with a stabbing. 18-year-old savannah raven turned herself in. she's accused of stabbingom pierceson street in july. raven is set to be arraigned next month. manchester police are asking for your help in tracking down a man involved in a violent con confrontation. it all started wednesday night when 28-year-old shane blanchard told officers he witnessed a hit-and-run in windham. he decided to look for the car that hit her. he found the honda on i-93 and followed it into manchester. honda drove for his car. he was standing outside and had to slide over the hood, crack the wind shield. blanchard confronted the driver while holding a gun. the two got into a struggle. the suspect managed to fire a shot before taking off. the suspect car is missing the front bumper. erin: londonderry police are on the look out for a hit-and-run driver. a dark colored suv hit a man when he was crossing after the victim was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. the vehicle that hit him has front end damage and a broken right headlight. anyone with information is urged to call the londonderry police department. a road rage incident is under investigation this morning. police were asking for the public's help in finding a car that was involved. they are trying to locate a newer model the man was a slender man with short hair. there's no word on exactly what the road rage incident entailed. the car was last seen heading toward epping on grant road. anyone who sees the vehicle matches the description is urged to call the new market police department. sean: donald trump held a campaign rally in laconia last night. it was his fourth visit to the granite state since winning the new hampshire primary. >> just so you understand, new hampshire is a special place in this is where i won my first primary. sean: the republican nominee addressed the economic plan earlier in the day. he's promising lower taxes and more jobs. trump questioned hillary clinton's judgment as secretary of state and stressed the importance of winning new hampshire in the general election. >> new hampshire can be the state that pushes us we're going to win new hampshire. we're going to win back the white house. we're going to make america great again. remember that. sean: trump told supporters to make sure he wins in november or he's wasted a lot of time, energy, and money. erin: tim kaine was also in the granite state. he held a round table discussion in portsmouth with members of the non-profit group stay, work, play. kaine laid out the differce campaigns. he also visited exeter town hall where he held up the candidate's books. kaine says clinton's book "stronger together" highlights the democrat's upbeat vision. trump's book takes a different focus. >> this is a view out of the penthouse of the tall tower. looking down at seeing a crippled america. i do not recognize this i don't. this is not who we are. erin: senator cain reminded the crowd this is a battleground state and no one should take it for granted. sean: a lot of produce was stolen. the owner oflavalley farm, someone took produce. the owners say they are thankful for the support after people have dropped off donations. >> it is been overwhelming the amount of support. the community is amazing. we've had a couple of businesses some in. the tap house came yesterday and bought tons of produce to prepare and sell at the restaurant. sean: authorities are looking for the person or people responsible for produce theft. hitting them while they are down. erin: a chaotic scene in new york after the man goes on the attack. >> the cops shot for five seconds straight. erin: what police say lead to the suffering injuries when a man armed with a meat it erupted during rush hour yesterday. the suspect, 32-year-old was shot and is now in serious condition. we have the details. >> everybody said what are you doing? reporter: the story started several locks away. he was enraged to find his car was bolted. he started pounding away. it attracted the attention of police detective who flagged down an officer in uniform. >> he has a meat cleaver. >> as we were pursuing him, we have video. he has the cleaver in his hand. you can clearly see it. he is waving around. ray: cops chased him through people finally cornering him. >> he went through the front grill of the marked police car that was responding to the off-duty detective attempted to subdue the suspect. he was struck in the head from the cleaver causing a six-inch gash in his head by his jaw. reporter: the off-duty chop. a lucky break on the last night as new york's top cop. >> i them for their bravery and performance and pushback about the number of shots fired. >> there were a lot of bullets fired. 18 by police as they tried to neutralize the suspect. a block from new york's pen station at the height of rush hour. not one man says he was driving by the area when officers ran out of the woods. the man happened to have a saw. he followed the officers back into the woods and saw the girl chained to the tree. >> thick chain and thick padlock. he was laid down on her back. she must have there all night. the mosquitoes were out there. >> i have a granddaughter. it is personal when it is in your community. sean: the girl is doing well. erin: police in texas are can see the store -- they have pulled off similar smash and grabs. sean: six manatees trapped for a week. high water from hurricane hermine allowed the manatees to move into the pond. a blockage stopped them from getting red sox open the tour-game series with the yankees at fenway park. the division title is still up for grabs. 17 games to go in the
