next month. kristen carosa, wmur news 9. cascade mountain. crews from the state and federal forest service are pumping water out of an old reservoir, to try to put out the flames. almost two acres of woods have burned. we're told the fire is under control. but firefighters are busy checking for hot spots. red cross is providing firefighters with treats and snacks to help out. jennifer: we need a lot of rain to improve the extreme drought conditions. hayley lapoint is here now, any relieve hayley: any little bit helps, but these cold fronts that pass through, they drop a minuscule amount of rain. we need a tropical system or low pressure system that parks itself over us for days on end. i don't see that happening. we also need a big pattern change, that doesn't seem to be happening. in the meantime we will get some showers, not tomorrow but on sunday and they'll be scattered. but look at those numbers, we need 10 inches or more of rain, and a quarter inch ain't going to do it. bit helps. i'll have the extended forecast ahead. josh: right now three adults and two children are recovering after they were involved in a crash in loudon on 106 just before one this afternoon and it shut down the road for hours. mike cronin is live at state police headquarters with the latest details. reporter: this was not the first serious crash in that area of loudon this summer and neighbors there would like to see somethg police say three cars were involved in a crash on route 106, which shut down the road for three hours. three adults and two children were hurt, but it unclear how they're doing. loudon's police chief says the children are very young and were sitting in car seats. the trauma team was alerted and five ambulances were called to the scene. state police say 64-year-old sidney brock of loudon was turning left into the camp by 63-year-old william marshall of belmont, the impact caused brock's car to cross the center line and hit a subaru outback being driven by 53-year-old car sit happen it on the of -- darcy hamilton of. this is the third serious crash in this area of 106 in recent months. in july i was at the same scene when two cars were involin sent two people to the hospital. then in june a motorcycle and car collided. meanwhile, anyone with information on today's crash is asked to call state police. mike cronin, wmur news 9. jennifer: police are investigating a burglary at a long-time diner in goffstown. the owners of cody's diner say a burglar used a crowbar to break in overnight. money was stolen from an atm and a cash register. authorities now are looking for possession of child sexual abuse images was in court this afternoon. christopher murphy was arrested after a warrant was executed at his home on wednesday. andy hershberger was in court today and joins us now live with more. reporter: the court entered a not guilty plea for christopher murphy today to six felony level charges of possession of child sexual abuse images. he was arrested at his east kingston home after an investigation that officials say lasted for several months. authorities say he possessed images and videos that show young people in sexually explicit situations. bail was set today at $25,000 and prosecutors say the investigation is still ongoing. >> we're still investigating, so forensic evidence is still being examined so i can't comment specifically on what the evidence we have and with a additional evidence may or may of the wmur sales department and has been suspended pending the outcome of this case. his lawyer says he plans to defend these charges. andy hershberger, wmur news 9. jennifer: u.n.h. is facing a lot questions tonight about how it paid for its new million there are scoreboard. the point came from a former librarian who donated his estate to the school. wmur's jennifer crompton is live now to explain how top lawmakers are among those this comes across as an extravagant expenditure at a time when the university has pressing budget needs and will be asking the state for many more millions. robert morin left a wonderful gift, having worked at the university library for nearly 50 years, the quiet frugal man gave his entire $4 million estate to u.n.h. >> he did leave a small portion to the library, but beyond this announcing that 2.5 million will go to an expanded centrally located student career and professional success center. and a million towards a giant video board at the newly renovated wildcat stadium. what might he think? >> i think he would have been pleased with it. reporter: but some in governmen% call the video board funding perplexing, when the university is about to ask the legislature for millions. >> sometimes i think the university system loses perspective of how much a million dollars is t out there and how far that can go on other things. >> that money could go towards lowering the cost of education or to their capital drive for new stem buildings. report the university issuing a statement saying while it's her from people who disagree, it doesn't change its decision saying in part, a facility like wild cat stadium is transformative to our campus experience in helping u.n.h. to recruit the best and brightest students, build our campus and alumni community pride and host one would expect from a flagship state university. jasper thinks the was withheld from us. it was withheld from the council, from the governor and commissioner. again, i we need to rebid this contract. >> we need to make sure that they're held to the letter of the law and the letter of the contract that they are patients get good care. reporter: on the issue of health care, van ostern says making the expansion of medicaid permanent is a critical component. sununu wants to reshape it into a model that protects taxpayers and is more tailored to the state's needs. another difference centers on the prospect of a commuter rail project running from the state's southern tier into boston. >> there's no question it will help businesses grow and help responsible because most of the funding can come from grants from washington. >> that's not going to drive our economy forward. a 300 million train to help a couple thousand people get to work in boston? that doesn't make sense to anybody i don't think. josh: you can hear more from both candidates for new warmth for today, and we'll also keep the temperatures warmer overnight too. we're not talking 30's, and no threat for frost. you see 40's across the state, maybe a couple of 50's in the southern cities like manchester and portsmouth. it's going to be hard to miss tonight, there will be a huge full moon big and bright out there of it's the full harvest moon. be able to see it out there tonight, especially with with the totally clear skies. we'll have a few passing clouds, that will be about it overnight, some patchy fog possible in the usual spots. then watching closely what's happening off to the west, a couple storm systems at play here which eventually will bring us in some rain showers, it's just going to take its time getting here, that might be good if you have outdoor plans tomorrow. that means we'll squeeze out one more f sunday. this is 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, maybe you're waking up and going doing your morning errands or taking a run in the morning, it looks good. sunshine, temperatures will be cool, but they'll warm up quickly, again a quick rebound with all the sunshine. a fully sunny day tomorrow, clouds will start continue crease late in the football teams will be collecting food for their local community pantries. merrimack valley is collecting tonight for the immaculate memorial field this weekend as the u.n.h. and dartmouth football teams square off in hanover for the first time since 2008. they last played in durham in 2014. it was a big win for new hampshire. in fact dartmouth has not beaten u.n.h. in the last 20 meetings and
