what -- headquarters with a wrap-up of what happened. >> reporter: they held a fund- raiser last night but saturday night it was a different scene when three people were stabbed inside the club. now the owner is saying he is going to make changes. here's what we know. cell phone video early sunday morning shows a man with bandages over stab wounds a police report says three people were stabbed but the victims doesn't know who assaulted them or what led to the incident. one victim was reportedly confused and highly intoxicated. mount vernon club made headlines for a crime that happened outside the club over a year ago when tyrone brown a former marine was killed last year by off duty police officer. eden's lounge owner says he has security throughout the nightclub and at at front door and normally there is a heavy police presence in the area. but given the events e. plans on making-- he plans on making tougher restrict on patrons. >> no basketball news or sneaks or baseball caps. you have to look good when you come in eden's lounge. >> reporter: so far, police have no suspects in the stabbing. corinne redman, abc2 news. new this morning a crash left one person dead this morning. not far from the maryland chesapeake house on i-95. it happened around 1 when a semitruck slammed into the back of a car. this is video from the mdot camera from the scene. authorities say two people in the crash were hurt. police are searching for withins in a possible attempted abduction case at downs park in anne arundel county sunday night. officers arrested a man after a witness saw hmm approach two boys. she says she saw him give the children money and tried to get them into walk into the woods with him. that's when she steps in and the boys left. police are look for that woman and the -- looking for the woman and two boys to help with the investigation. if you have information about the story, call police as quickly as possible. investigators are trying to figure out what started a tugboat fire in south baltimore. it broke out around two yesterday afternoon along the patapsco river close to where the key highway meets lawrence street. a fuel line broke after the fire started. no one was injured. first increase in the alcohol tax and now some want to raise the tobacco tax. public health group wants to increase the tax from 2 to $3 a pack. this morning lenda so is live to tell you -- linda -- linda so is live to tell you more. >> reporter: yes. that is the goal and the reason is to hopefully reduce teen smoking and raise funds for health care. to tell us more about it is vinny demarco with maryland citizens health initiative. what are you looking to do? >> we are trying to save lives. and build on our success over the last decade. as you can see from this chart, beginning in 1999, when we increased cigarette tax by 30 cents per pack, every time we increased the tax, there's been a significant drop in smoking. the result has been a 32% drop in smoking in maryland double the national average. and, 70,000 lives saved from preventable tobacco caused death that saves lives and us money because it's not people going to the hospital running up huge hospital bills that we pay for. and the money from it is used to expand health care for over 250,000 maryland children, parents and seniors. we want to build on the success. >> that's -- >> reporter: that's what you are looking to do if the tax goes up. where would the money go. >> we want some to go to tobacco control and prevention to help people quit. and to encourage kids to not start. and we want to put the money into health care long-term care, public health measures so we can make people in maryland healthier. we all benefit because when people are uninsured and don't have health care, we pay a hidden health care tax. a thousand dollars of all of our insurance premiums go to pay for health care for the uninsured. let's reduce the number of uninsured and we benefit. tobacco tax is a win-win for maryland. >> reporter: yowl bed did -- you will be with us all morning. the goal here the campaign that starts today is to try to raise the tobacco tax from $2 to $3. we will check in with vinny again later in the newscast. linda so, abc2 news. today is your chance to voice your opinion about gg bush -- bge response to tropical storm lee and hurricane irene. some were in the dark for a week. the public service commission is holding a meeting in baltimore to speak out about the matters. it's tonight at 7:00 at wallman assembly hall in the war memorial building. it's the second of such meeting. now an update to a story last week, the proposed homeless shelter in dundalk. an organization hoped to put 16 homeless men in temporary shelters is backing down from the original plan. they were supposed to move in today behind the dundalk united methodist church. but neighbors made the feelings known loud and clear at a meeting last week. the director of the organization streets of hope now says other churches in baltimore county will step in to help fill the void. >> we have very strong faith and we know we will be okay. we just know we are going to be okay. god will provide. >> the men who have stayed there for the past 10 days or month will be moved to other churches in southeastern baltimore county and they and the people helping them find a more permanent solution. well the ravens had the weekend off from playing but yesterday, it was all back tobusiness. they took the official team pictures and the ravens tweeted this outtake you can see linebacker terrell sugg. enjoying the limelight. they will be back on the field at m and t stadium playing host to the texans. before the ravens play sunday, it was lady's night at the bank. thousands of women turned out for a purple evening especially for them. they were given a ravens lunchbox and got player autographs and tried on the poe outfit and ran a few drills. >> i think i did great. we are going home with a w. and happy?
