mark: good morning in for joining us, on mark hayes. lisa: and i' m lisa cooney. more headlines coming up, but let' s get a check on the forecast. randi: it was a short week for many people with the holiday on monday. it seems so long ago though. we had snow and cold. that is gone and it is all about the warm up. as you look at temperatures right now, starting out with many around 40 degrees. we have a couple of spots that are cooler right now. dry ridge at 35. he called the spun the area. loveland sitting at 41. mason currently, 43. this is a great way to start out your friday. it is going to get one but it is also going to get breezy through the day. we are starting out with clouds north of town and clear to the south and west. as we zoom out, you can see it is dry across the region. clouds are clearing out the wind currently 10-15 mile-per-hour wind. back toward chicago, wind 20-25 miles per hour. that will be the case this afternoon. your plan for today, 8:00 a.m., sunny, breezy, and 38 degrees. lunchtime is feeling good. we are in the low 50' s. through the afternoon, it will be windy and warm. 25 mile hour winds but ties close to 60. lisa: breaking now, middletown police are on the scene of a semi crash involving a pedestrian. investigators tell us the victim was run over about 2:00 this morning at the intersection of yankee and verity. a medical helicopter was called in to treat the woman. it' s unclear her condition. the semi driver was not hurt. wlwt will update this story as new details come into the newsroom. mark: a person was also hit on interstate 75, near the western hills viaduct, after a car crash. police tell us several vehicles crashed about 10:00 last night. one person got out of a crashed car to check out the damage, and officers say that person was the victim is expected to be ok. i-75 was backed up for a bit but is back to normal now. no word yet on what caused the original crashed. lisa: 4:32 right now with , nevada' s caucuses and south carolina' s primary just a day away democratic candidates , hillary clinton and bernie sanders took part in a town hall meeting last night in las vegas. sanders was the first candidate to take the stage with clinton appearing later to answer questions from the moderator and members of the audience. both candidates are trying to win over minority voters and women. that didn' t stop them from separately, taking jabs at each other. t know where all of this comes from. sanders wasn' t really a democrat until he decided to run for president. lisa: hillary clinton still leads senator bernie sanders by double digits nationally in a new nbc news wall street journal poll. 53% of democratic primary voters senator sanders. mark: 4:33, as for the republicans three of the , candidates took to the stage in south carolina last night for a second day of town hall meetings. wlwt news 5' s miriah turner is at the live alert desk with a recap of that event. miriah: ohio governor john kasich former florida governor jeb bush and donald trump all took questions from voters in columbia last night. all 3 discussed a gamut of issues. including the future of obamacare and how the u.s. should deal with the terror group isis. all 3 candidates also showed a softer side by talking about the importance of family. trump' s recent war of words with pope francis was also a hot topic last night. the controversy broke out earlier thursday when the pontiff told reporters aboard that a person who thinks only about building walls, and not bridges, is not christian. though trump reacted swiftly at a rally earlier in the day he softened his response at the thanh truong: -- donald trump and the pope made the statement, : and i think it was probably a little bit nicer statement than was reported by you folks in the media because after i read it, it was a little bit softer. but the bottom line is we' ve got a have a border. miriah: this was the second south carolina republican town hall in recent days. ben carson and senators ted cruz and marco rubio addressed south carolina voters wednesday. south carolina holds its republican presidential primary tomorrow. lisa: a final goodbye begins this morning, for justice antonin scalia. a public viewing will take place today. scalia will lie in repose in the supreme court' s great hall. before the public viewing, family, friends, and the justices will hold a private ceremony. a funeral mass will be held tomorrow given by his own son paul, who is a catholic priest. q4:35 right now, officers shoot and kill a man who appeared to be reaching for a gun. we' re learning new information now about what led up to the confrontation with officers in westwood. mark: and also the type of weapon the man was really carrying. wlwt news 5' s mike dardis has mike: dramatic moments captured on a cell phone camera. >> please do what you' re asked. please. mike a witness pleads with paul : gaston to comply with cincinnati police orders. the eyewitness video initially show' s the 37-year-old following commands. gaston gets down on his knees, hands are visible, officers have their guns drawn. the deadly turn comes when gaston does not lie flat as commanded. he raises up and his right rand reaches into his waistband. what police say he reached for looked like a real gun. >> he raises up with his right hand reaches to his waistband. you see the reaction of the officers. mike three officers fired 9 : shots. >> don' t go for a gun against a shot -- against a cop. and our officers have a really with them when they make tough mark: one person questioning the officers' decision now, paul gaston' s girlfriend. she talked with us about what led up to the shooting. and why she doesn' t believe he needed to die that night. the girlfriend said she called 911 after gaston hit her daughter with the pellet gun. but when police got to her home gaston had already taken off. the girlfriend wanted her identity protected so we' re not showing her face. and we' re distorting her voice. >> he had been drinking and he just had an accident, i' m not trying to justify him not listening but i' m pretty sure , that played a major role in it. mark: the 3 officers who fired their guns are from district three. and, are on paid administrative leave until the investigation is complete. lisa: viciously attacked in their home by their own pets. a brown county couple is recovering this morning after breaking up a dog fight. the dog warden was called out to a home on new harmony salem road in mount orab thursday afternoon. he says it' s unclear what started the fight between the two dogs. trying to pull them apart. a 5-year-old male and a 2 to , 3-year-old female. the dog warden says the female is new to the family. >> they didn' t seem like they were vicious dogs when they were outside at all. but i don' t know, you don' t know what happens inside. lisa: both victims were taken u.c. medical center. and are expected to survive. county' s shelter. mark: honoring some of greater cincinnati' s bravest. this week, boone county recognized several of its deputies for what they' ve done. while serving our community. deputies rachel straus and justin ryle were honored for their actions during this crash last month. the two helped get an injured driver from a burning car and it was all caught on dash cam. lieutenant dean pattison and deputy mike moore received the deputy' s medal. for helping a driver out of his crashed car. that was stuck on train tracks was approaching. lisa: back to your forecast on this friday. looking forward to warmer temperatures. we are already approaching 40. randi: not bad to start the day. before -- the focus of the forecast is the warm weather but we also want to talk about the wind. the wind coming in from the south is helping to drive temperatures up into the 60 degree range today and tomorrow. at times, they will be on the stronger side. especially in the afternoon and evening. the national weather service has placed our entire area under a wind advisory. that goes into effect at 10:00 this morning continuing through 7:00 this evening. any time in the second half of the day that you are out and about, hold onto your hat. if you got a bigger suv on the road, 40 mile per hour gusts can have an impact as you are trying to get around. keep that in mind. on the way to school this morning, i think the kids will appreciate the milder air. temperatures near 40 degrees. it will be windy as they get the -- as they get off the bus this afternoon. [laughter] and for those who are looking ahead to the easter season walmart shelves will feature these little gems carrot cake flavored hershey kisses. hershey' s fun, symbolic springtime offering is by storm when business insider released a video of the mesmerizingly colorful bagel-making process. they are unique to a shop in brooklyn new york and the owner says since the publicity around christmas time the bakery has sold 800 of the coveted bagels every day. due to the rise in demand the iconic bagel store took to their facebook page announcing their indefinite break they say the decision to close to improve the brooklyn staple. it sounds like they had a small going to try to make some local orders. the country they cannot sell right now. they are overwhelmed. watch the video. day. expect 15-25 mile per hour sustained winds and gusts in that 40 mile-per-hour range that will be possible in the middle of the afternoon. for that reason, wind advisories in effect for the entire area midafternoon, lunchtime, evening commute. especially if you do drive one of those larger vehicles, you could get blown around by the wind. you may have issues in the second half of the day. this louisville clinic of performing unlicensed abortions. the lawsuit is seeking nearly $700,000 in fines. the suit was filed by kentucky' s cabinet for health and family services at the end of january. limitations to when students would go back to school each fall. the state senate committee is prevent classes from starting any earlier than the monday 26th. schools with a year-round calendar could
