3 our beautiful weekend weather is spilling over to the work week. ingrid, hopefully the trend will continue this week. good morning. here is a look at current conditions across the region. your day planner shows temperatures warming by noon. coming up, i'll show you our 7-day forecast for both the mountains and upstate. 3 3 3 3 3 happening today, a man charged in a major theft case involving the largest church in the mountains will go before a judge. jeffrey silvers is accused of stealing more than 40-thousand-dollars biltmore baptist in arden then pawning it. he's also accused of breaking into several of the church's vehicles. arrest warrants indicate he took tools worth nearly nine thousand dollars from someone else. 3 deputies in buncombe county are investigating a bizarre theft at home depot on fairview road. deputies say james mayfield junior stole a leaf blower and then returned it for store credit. they say he then did it again with a different leaf blower a few days later... he is now charged with two counts of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of felony obtaining property on false pretenses. 3 3 3 in this morning's newsreel... an army staff sergeant is facing murder charges - and a virginia police officer is dead after a 9-1-1 call gone horribly wrong. officer ashley guindon was on her first day of patrol saturday. she and two other officers responded to a domestic incident that evening from the suspect's wife. officials say ronald hamilton shot all three as soon as they arrived. he eventually surrendered, but the prosecutor says he had officer guindon was rushed to the hospital, but died of her injuries. 3 she really had a passion to serve others, and went above and beyond herself .. hamilton, an active army staff sergeant assigned to the pentagon, is scheduled for court today. both the injured officers are in the hospital, but should make full recoveries. 3 a ku klux klan rally turns violent in california over the weekned. three people were stabbed and several others were arrested on saturday. anaheim police are still looking for this man in connection with the stabbings. authorities say ku klux klan members were confronted by several dozen people outside a park where the rally was being held. the stabbing victims are expected to recover. 3 three people have been killed and at least three people are critically injured in california after a car accident. late friday night a truck crashed into at least two vehicles on an interstate near los angeles. fire officials say a big rig hit at two vehicles and burst into flames. the los angeles county fire department says the fire was quickly put out. 3 happening today... mcdowell county d-s-s works to combat a critical need for foster families. news 13's lauren brigman joins us live from the d-s-s office in marion, where an information session will take place later today. lauren, who can go to the meeting?
