red cross at 828-333-9919. coming up at 5:30, some of the damage caused by the flood waters. seven people are shot in the early morning hours of new year's day in kansas city. authorities say the shootings were all unrelated. left a person dead and another critically wounded. kansas city's police chief tweeting overnight the gun fire came from irresponsible individuals. >> darcel: in the aftermath of last night's dramatic hotel fire in dubai, firefighters continue the process of cooling down the smoulderring build. fire sent flames shooting up one side of the 64-foot building. everyone was safely evacuated from the hotel. people were treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation. >> frank: a big party rang in, in the new york city overnight. as soon as it ended, sanitation crews got busy cleaning up times square. new york's department of sanitation says more than 170 they got the clean-up done with several dozen sweepers and collection trucks. after last year's times square party, more than 48 tons of debris was hauled away. >> darcel: the wife of comedian bill cosby is ordered to give a deposition in a defamation suit against her husband. a massachusetts court rejected the motion by camille cosby. she's scheduled to testify next week. this defamation case involves seven women accusing cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. cosby faces charges in pennsylvania over an alleged incident that happened in 2004. he has denied wrongdoing. the first baby of 2016 was born in mission hospital. >> frank: she was meant to be a but ashlea continue to dry out the french broad at blantyre continues to fall. but it's still a little bit above flood stage so that river flood warning continues for a little while longer. it should fall below that flood stage as we go on in to tomorrow afternoon. meanwhile we take a look at the satellite and radar composites. some moisture not hitting the ground but we do see it in the higher elevations here. but we look back to the west of knoxville and we do see some clearing. and this clearing is going to continue as we go on through the evening. right now, though, leicester carpet sales news13 sky cam we can see the clouds, 41 degrees there. right now in asheville, it's also 41. with the very brisk wind, we have the wind chill making it feel more like 33. in greenville, 53 degrees. and that dew point is at 36. we can see how some really cold air has moved down from the northwest. many places are well below freezing like detroit and chicago both at 24 degrees. cincinnati quite cool at 36. we are getting there pretty quickly with this very dry cool flow around this area of high pressure. that is going to make for a dry and overall chilly weekend. we do have the hour by hour future cast to show you here. we can see that by 8 o'clock in the evening, many of these clouds are going to be off to the south and the east. we go on through the overnight hours and clear skies, that will help cool us in to the 20s in many locations. if you are going to be out and about that early, have that heavy coat ready to go. also the gloves, the scarf. it is going to be bitterly cold compared to what we've been used to recently. during the day, even though it will be nice and sunny with a few high thin clouds moving through, at 5 o'clock we wrap up the afternoon in the upper 40s. cold night sandbags. he was one of hundreds told to evacuate. many still not allowed to return home. but authorities warning the danger isn't over yet. this flooding was historic for the miramack river cresting
