for driving around a barrier .. and crashing into this huge hole left in the road after hurricane matthew. police say 68- year-old darrell musselwhite drove around the barrier on bingham drive near bunce road... and crashed into the hole. he wasn't seriously hurt .. but was sent to the hospital to be checked out. musselwhite is charged with driving around a barricade into a safety zone. governor pat mccrory is waiving certain d-m-v impacted by hurricane matthew. the fees will be waived until december first .. for licenses .. duplicate titles .. and replacement registration plates .. among other services. the governor says his administration is committed to offering every assistance possible to those impacted so that families can return to a normal way of life. now to vote 2016 .. and early voting is surging less than three weeks before election day. as of tonight .. more than 5.3 million votes have at this time in 2012. we saw long lines of voters again today around the triangle. abc 11 reporter jon camp tweeted out this video .. around 11 this morning. this was the line to vote at the library on east holding avenue in wake forest. voters told us it was about a two hour wait. meanwhile .. in durham.. much of the same. the durham committee on the affairs of black people held a get out and vote rally a few hours ago. anthony wilson was there. people marched to durham's board of elections on a sunny saturday... they joined others already lined up for early voting---including 93 year old helen hilderman and her niece, jennifer sosensky. hilderman cast her first vote 70 years ago. her message for those waiting until november 8th: because lines could be much are democrats: the estimated wait time for these early voters in apex---one hour. that's another done early, movement." she'll be joined by mothers who lost their children in 'police- involved - incidents' -- and 'gun - violence'. the event will take place on the quad at 1-45. doors open at 11- 15. oscar-nominated actress .. angela bassett .. encouraged people in the triangle today .. to get to the polls early. she made campaign stops for hillary clinton in durham. out into the community and get everyone excited for election day. bassett says she'll be making stops throughout next couple of days. on the republican side .. republican national committee co- chair sharon day spent the day in north carolina. she joined the wives of senators richard burr and thom tillis. they visited offices in several cities including one on spring forest road in raleigh this afternoon. we've just learned donald trump will return to north carolina next week. he's holding a rally in kinston on wednesday night at seven .. at the kinston jet center. presidential candidate mike pence will campaign for trump in greensboro on monday. he'll host a rally at seven p-m .. at the greensboro coliseum. doors open at five. the governor of indiana will also host a rally at catawba college in salisbury on monday afternoon. tonight... police in new york say preliminary tests on a white powdery substance found in an envelope sent to hillary clinton's campaign .. show that it wasn't harmful. meanwhile .. clinton's rival .. is vowing to sue the women who accuse him of sexual ass has the latest on the campaign trail 'election - headquarters'. you can follow the candidates on the campaign trail -- and injuring the suspect. he was taken to the hospital.. where he later died. the suspect has not been identified. no charges are expected to be filed against the homeowner. an airstrike in iraq leaves dozens of blaming the u-s -- calling it a war crime. it's still not clear who carried out the airstrike... but russia's defense ministry says it came from the u-s led coalition in iraq. a spokesman says two jets hit a funeral procession yesterday. officials say 17 people were killed.. mainly women and children. another 50 were hurt. counter- terrorism police in london are on high alert. this, after two suspicious packages were found in three days. the first was discovered on a thursday... forcing the underground system to be shut down for several hours. a 19-year-old man was arrested for that incident. when officers were searching an address connected to him today, they found the second package. the house was evacuated and the anti-terrorism squad is -quote- "dealing with the item." new tonight .. a- t-and-t is buying time warner for more than 85 billion dollars in a deal that will transform the phone company into a media giant. the deal combines the carrier's subscribers with time warner's lineup including networks such as c-n-n .. t-n-t .. h-b-o and warner brothers film and t-v studio. a lawsuit filed against the city of charlotte .. in the wake of the police shooting of keith scott. what one group is asking of police. then .. a giveaway for a great cause. how one local organization is working hard to make sure triangle children stay warm this winter. but first... a live look outside of a lawsuit tonight .. against the city of charlotte .. the charlotte police department and chief kerr putney .. over the use of police force during september's violent protests. seven residents who are members of the group 'charlotte uprising' filed a federal lawsuit .. seeking a temporary restraining order that would prevent the police department from using force against non- violent protesters. one organizer says she was burned with the charlotte unrest after the deadly police shooting of keith scott. officers say scott refused to drop a gun .. before they shot him on september 20th. time is running out to check out this year's state fair.. this is the final weekend. big crowds are expected. more than 85- thousand people attended the fair friday. but that's down
