Roller Derby Team has four teams that compete around the country. great names. for people who have never seen roller derby, what are we talking about . roller derby is a full contact sport that is played on rollerskates. were not on rollerblades we are talking four wheels in the quad set up. there are five people from two teams competing during a shift called a jam. the goal is to help your person who is wearing the star on her get through the pack but also mainly bit more poorly stopping the other jammer. youre playing offense and defense at the same time. it is quick and hard hitting. in their first year a lot of rookies are like i have no idea whats going on. and you say thats okay. how did you get involved . i first heard about roller derby when i heard in new york. when i moved to cleveland i met someone who was playing in the rest is history i fell in love. what you love about the sport . too many things. for me i became an athlete. i was not really part of that. there is a comradely about the sport. is a growing . in the midwest, in northeast ohio a lorne alone we have a 45 minute drive to cleveland, there are three leagues and then also [ indiscernible ]. the midwest is chockfull of roller derby. there is a team in pittsburgh and smaller teams, there is the ohio roller girls in columbus and centennial roller girls. this is our 10th year in existence. it is not
