and it will bring you the up date on this weekend's historic rain that rain is coming here, and we are going to time it out hour by hour and tell you when you can see the dryer and rm whatter change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability. bernie sanders. he was there when dr. king marched on washington. unafraid to challenge the status quo to end racial profiling, take on police misconduct, and take down a system that profits from mass imprisonment. there is no president who will fight harder to end institutional racism. education. opportunity. reform. bernie. i'm bernie sanders and i approve this message. this is what i came home for -- to work in the community, turning schools after hours into centers for healthcare and safe spaces for our kids. and a marshall scholarship, i turned down a job at google to work improving education. now i'm running for the senate to offer new ideas -- cut college loan rates in half, pass common sense gun safety laws. i approve this message to offer bold new leadership >> adam: good morning, cincinnati, with the south, dealing with historic flooding hundreds have been forced from their homes. >> liz: cbs, david, spent the day in louisiana in some of the hardest hit, areas, and showing now how people are coping. >> the flood water was seeping through the sandbags in bozer city, the crews added more bags in the vulnerable areas along the levy. and the home of chris smith and his life lora, backed up to the levy, they were ordered to evacuate and decided no the too. >> i had surgery on monday, and advised no the to travel. >> west of here, kado lake is expected to ride to 179 feet, flooding not seen in nearly 50 years. moderate to major flooding on 50 percent of the state's rivers right now. north of new or lean, in the city of folsom the family spent the day trying to reach her, found her trapped if her home, she lost everything during hurricane katrian. >> in louisiana, the smith family is ready with sandbags. >> they asked yesterday if i could help in the disaster in the area, and i said that i have to worry about my own home before i go and help others right now. >> i am walk on the levy, and as for the seepage, they stopped it and put more sandbags right here and nothing is seeping in now, but you can see what it did for the last several hours, those are the homes that they are concerned about. the mayor said, don't let the sunshine deceive you, we are not out of the woods just yet. >> adam: they are dealing with >> liz: we are getting the aftermath, is why we feel blessed when you look at that >> brandon: we are getting the same rain that they are, just not as heavy, it is relentless, day after day. and if you take a look at radar, you can see how most of it is gone from now. and it is catching a little bit of a break and moving to the north and it is dry across the area that saw the flooding over the past few days, which is really good news, for us, though it means that the raining is continuing to push on through and you can see as we take a closer look at some of that rain continues to push in, on the precision, doppler 12, hd, it is not as steady or heavy as it was last night and we had a decent, band ch the moderate, and at times, the heavy rain, that pushed on through and the decent, rain fall in some areas, and more than one inch but you can see here on precision, doppler, hd and it is just scattered hit or miss and that is what we are going to see throughout much of the day today, it is not the steady rain like we did last night and there are going to be plenty of dry periods and you can see the through the four inches to the west of i71, 75, that is pushing on of to the north and that is something that we are going to have going on. no thunder, and we have the low clouds to deal with and you can see, we can even see downtown right now, this is the medical camera and you can typically see the sky line, well and you just can't see anything at all, it is all gray now, but just a moment i go, you could see where the top of the fog was and you could see the shower and the clouds above it, and it was a really cool shot, and we will see the clouds, cooperate as we go throughout the next hour and because it looks for a neat shot because you can see howing for foggy it is, and two and a half, near harrison and watch out on the hills too, because of the some of the low clouds and the visibility is the lowest, 59 at the airport, and there are a couple of areas, in 60, and down to owenton and most of us in the 50 and warming down to the 60s and the temperatures will be yesterday, and so we are going to have the hit or miss, showers or a rumble or two after, 1:00 or so and i don't expect any severe weather and i don't expect any flooding today either, 68 degrees, around 5:00 and so very mild day and you know that it is really warm, if we are not going to see much of the sunshine today, and we are still going to see a little bit in the way of the temperatures in the upper 60s and so we have these hit and miss, showers and you can see the breaks in the clouds and don't be surprised if we catch a little bit of sun in the showers that are moving there you but you can see that they extend all the way down into tus ennessee and so there is a trail of moisture and i will show you that here in a moment and here is the first system. and you can see it a little bit and that is where the main system is in illinois and we are getting the showers and a couple of the thunderstorms out ahead of it, over night, tonight we catch a little bit of a break and just a few and a little bit of sprinkles at time, and a little built of drizzle and this is the second, system that is see it here, right in southern, indiana and kentucky that is going to push in our direction and bringing us the rain to kick off the workweek on monday. and we did not get a break on tuesday and we finally saw the sunshine if you want the sunshine, just wait for tuesday and 73, groo ez and we will see the storms, roll through on tuesday evening and just watch out for those, and there is a risk for the severe, weather on tuesday, and the damaging wind gusts coming up in the next half hour and we will break down the potential for tuesday and either way that you look at it, we are cooling down. >> spring like. >> cooling down to 50s or 60s. okay. >> and that is cool for this time of year. >> yeah. >> that is right, thanks. >> liz: the sbca opening the doors for adoptions today that will start at noon, harry is going to show us the great dogs and cats that you can take home, that is just ahead. >> celebrating the birthday of a local, fallen marine, how much was raised at this special, change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability. bernie sanders. he was there when dr. king marched on washington. unafraid to challenge the status quo to end racial profiling, take on police misconduct, and take down a system that profits from mass imprisonment. to end institutional racism. education. opportunity. reform. bernie. i'm bernie sanders >> liz: good morning, everybody and it is 8:24 on a foggy sunday morning and this is sort of a really good reflection and a live look from our tower cam and you can see the haze over the several bridges in cincinnati and a lot is going on downtown, and the american, heart mini is under way, and efrl, political rallies going on and brandon will up date the forecast but later the things are changing. may be in the look out for the alligators and the natural areas that they live, but in other states such as georgia kind of rare. >> adam: one of the rep tiles has been spotted near the river in atlanta, it has been there for ten years and makes rare appearances, a wild life photographer snapped some pictures and the staff from the cbs afill ate from louisiana saw it in a mar sh, it is the furrest north that they have record of seeing an alligator survive in the wild, let's juflt hope that it does not make the way further north. the sbca has the adorable animals ready for adoption. >> anchor: >> anchor: our friend, harry is going to show us a couple to share that you might be able to take home. >> good morning, i have snickers with me this morning, and snickers seems calm for the moment but she has a lot of energy and going to need to go to a home where the people are willing to train her. and give her some exercise. she will make an exercise, old, and she has got her micro, chip and has been spayed and will make a great, companion animal. and to my left, is montgomery, and he is a male cat and he is about 7 months old, and he has been neutered and will make a great companion animal. >> adam: presidential candidates in ohio today. we will tell you just where they will be including at least one stop in the tri state that is just ahead. >> adam: but first, the heart, minimarathon, megan moore has largest runs and walks, wee willll >> breaking forward, coming up, a check of the weather, here is >> brandon: we have a little bit of rain, nothing compared to what we have seen over night, you may have heard it on the roof, and it was coming down, heavy and we had the lightning and the thunder and time-to-time and we are just seeing a few isolated showers here and there and that is going to be the case throughout the afternoon and evening and as we are seeing the hit and miss, spotty showers and we have a couple of showers, west, and that is going to cross over the river, here, shortly, but even that is just a light, sprinkle, so the heaviest of the rain and you can see it right there, moving out and we just have the hit and miss, showers that you can see through the south central, kentucky and down to nashville, and all of that is in our direction, but we do have the fog around and this is our medical center, medical camera, and this is over in oxford and the visibility is near, zero in harrison, and one 8th of a mile's airport and it is near zero and be near, and especially on the top of those, it is near zero, and five miles in hamilton, and three in middle town and it has no fog, whatsoever, and that is as good as it gets, 59 at the airport, and a lot of us in the 50s but this is how it plays out for the heart mini today, and we will have a couple of hit and miss, showers and it is not going to be a bad race, 65, by noon, and 67 by 1:30 or so, coming up in 15 minutes, we are going to talk about more rain on the way and even, more thunderstorms and we will break down the type of thunderstorms that we could see, on tuesday, and that is coming up here in 15 minutes, guys. >> liz: thank you very much, brandon, the american heart association, annual walk and run, takes over downtown, this morning. >> we could talk about where this race is going to go. >> sure, the heart half, and the 15 k, went off at 7:30, and 35th and broadway, and at 6th and broad way. and pretty much is out in back on columbia, parkway, and then we have the 10:30 race is the 5 k and that is up in the columbia, parkway. >> now it sounds, boring, but when can you like run on the columbia parkway. >> exactly. so just be mindful of that, and so there are road closures if you are heading down here, be mindful of that. let's talk about how big of a deal this is for the american >> yeah, this is the biggest fund-raiser and we set to raise, over 3 million from this event, today and it is the largest fund-raiser and the biggest, fund-raiser for the american, heart association and all of the funds and heart closer than what they are used to, 6-point, game and abby, finishes the break and she had a game high, 26, second half, ten point game, moss to 3, and giving a push and had 23, moore, leads down to double digits and makes it in and thomas moore, wins by 16 and the final. and that is a look at your sports on this election sunday. be sure to stay with local 12, for the big ten, turnment later on today, in the selection show on cbs and we will break it down on the sports authority later tonight, and make this one is a great one. >> liz: thanks ally and we are turning to weather >> brandon: it is foggy and the visibility is zero and you can't see anything, be aware, especially on the hills because we have the low clouds. >> adam: and over the river. >> brandon: of course, we can see, exactly. we have one of the cameras and i have it over the river and it shows the fog and that is cool. but look at the rain fall totals that we have had over night and that is when we saw the heaviest of the rain fall was last night and it was steady too and it came down heavy at times and we saw a band of rain that prompted the flood advisory for a brief time and it went around grant county up to boone and across cincinnati in fact some isolated areas, picked up more than an inch of rain, and we are close to it in owein, county and 0.91, the rest of us half an inch of rain. and now it is more spotty and we still have the rain around and so be aware if you are going out and about that we have the rain from time-to-time to deal with, and it is not as steady as what it was last night. you can see what the precision, doppler, hd hooks like and a lot of the steady rains moves out and we are seeing a couple of hit and miss, showers and none of which are downtown any more. and we have the show urz and those have fizzled out and we have another batch that is moving into the county and over to mason county and this is very, light and not getting any lightning and no thunder, out of this no flooding in the state and the hit and miss, showers here is the fog that adam was talking about, you can't see anything, on the medical camera, up in butler, county, but on the tower, cam this is above the fog and i tried to show the shot earlier but it just opened up of the tower and that is one of the lists that is on one of the towers here above the station and it is a neat shot above the fog and because this is the visibility that i was talking about. and one 8th of a mile, and one mile, and so it varys a little bit. and but be aware that it could change and a lot of us are in the 50s and a couple of areas and warmer down there and they are already at 60 degrees today and we will make a run at the upper 60s today. cloudy at around, ten with the on and off showers, and we still have a little bit of sun and just a little bit, peeking in between some of these hit or miss, showers as we go into the afternoon showers, and 67 degrees will be the high temperature and 67, 68 for the day today. and so as you can see that we have more rain to the south and it is just more hit and miss and clouds, too. and so we will see at least a little bit of sunshine with the to our south. and moving in our direction, and so that is the direction that is now coming from. through the day today and you can see even a rumble or two of thunder and some of those could be on the had he havy side and no severe weather today. and we get a break over night and you can see the storm system just spin with it as it moves in our direction and brings in the more rain to kick off the workweek and if it is not raining as you head out on monday morning to work or school, it will be raining by midday and you want to take the rain gear with you because it is going to continue into the over night hours and by tuesday, we will dry out and we will see a little bit of sunshine, and a decent amount of sunshine on tuesday, but you see this line of showers. and there is some, embedded thunderstorms within of that as well and that is pushing in our direction and some of those could be on the strong side and especially since we are going to see a lot of sunshine, during the day on tuesday and that is going to warm us up into the 70s and we are primed at least for a couple of thunderstorms from central, illinois and chicago. and through indiana and down here in the tri state and we will watch it carefully and i don't expect the widespread, of strong, thunderstorms or two and we will keep you updated over the next couple of days and after that front, moves through and it cools us off and back into average into the 50s and even a few rain showers as we head into next weekend, and at least no snow on the 7-day. >> adam: the mid week looks good >> liz: tuesday and wednesday. >> brandon: tuesday is going to be nice and a lot of sunshine too. >> liz: do you feel like. oh, that is great. yeah, >> adam: we will have a final if you're doing everything right but find it harder and harder to get by, you're not alone. while our people work longer hours for lower wages, almost all new income goes to the top 1%. my plan -- make wall street banks and the ultrarich provide living wages for working people, ensure equal pay for women. i approve this message because together, we can make and democracy that works for all and not just the powerful few. >> liz: good morning, cincinnati it is 8:53, and thank you for share part of your sunday with us, this is one of the traffic cams, and you can see that the roads are wet, but brandon says that it is off for now and if you are heading out for now, the changes are coming and you might want to do what you can for this morning. coming up later on this morning, on local 12, on full measure, a closer look at the issue of the government and their rights, to access people's cell phones. >> we have a fascinating story with the former ceo of quest, which is a communication company out west, joe nasio, and talks about what happened when one of the spy agencies approached the company to do a classified project of surveillance of without the proper legal authority. >> liz: full measure starts at eleven and local 12 follows at 11:30. we turn now for a look at the top stories, donald trump is in town today for a rally in west chest ter. the doors open at eleven and plenty of security expected after we saw the violence erupt at trump events over the weekend. the police had to pepper spray the people outside of an event, in kansas city, and someone actually stormed the stage, yesterday afternoon and that is what you are looking at right there, you need the ticket to get in, but it is free and we have the details on the website about how you can get one. >> also ahead in ohio's primary on tuesday, the democrat ikz or ahead of the proo i mare, and the candidates, hillary clinton, and bernie sanders, they will both are speaking at the democratic legacy center. hillary clinton was in north east, ohio yesterday, while sanders spent the time in chicago, on tuesday night, and local 12, is the place that we counted we will have complete, team coverage for the run for the white house and all of the candidates and concerns. >> adam: the heart, mini, going on right now, the first race kicked off at 7:30, but different ones will be starting all morning long and this is a big fund-raiser for the american, heart association expected to raise, $3 million, local 12, of course, a proud sponsor, we saw a lot of rain this morning, and the fog this running. >> liz: it was for the race and they kind of got lucky. >> brandon: they got lucky because we saw the heavy rain over night and it just moved out right before sunrise and now we are seeing the hit or miss, showers but they are more miss over downtown. or the showers that we have right now are mostly in northern kentucky and getting in on the showers and even, the moderate rain at times but again, right now it does not look like we will see the rain over the next couple of hours, over downtown and we will have a chance of the ska the tered showers throughout the date and we will see the rain, through the day, and 65, the upper 60s later today and so despite the rain it is going to feel, nice and you could see a the showers later today and we will see more hit or miss, showers and you will get a chance to dry out and if you want the nice weather in the near term, tuesday is your day, because we are going to be in the low 70s, it is going to feel nice and a chance for a few, strong thunderstorms late in the day on tuesday, especially into the evening and that is something that scott dimmich is going to highlight later today and i will have more at 11:30. >> liz: if you are getting out to vote, earlier on tuesday is better. >> adam: back at 11:30. real-time closed captioning provided by u.s. captioning company.) talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, scream. only one guy's done more than talk. kasich. he'll do for a
