interest the upper 30s later this afternoon, clouds will roll back in late day. a day that is going to feel like winter. that is going to change, though as we work into next week. a big warm up is in store for the tri-state. i'm going to be back with more on that. this is the time of the year we can see dramatic weather swings, some of those swings can give us severe weather at times. and today it's a special anniversary, here is brandon orr for that. >> reporter: you remember it march the second 2012 when we saw as many as nine tornadoes touch here in the tri-state. three of these were large, with excessive winds of 360 miles per hour. the storm prediction center outlining our area, and forecasts have improved with more accuracy and they're out laning tornadoes in a 4-8 day forecast. these photos were given to me by one of our production a dift ants. you can see a truck was thrown up against a tree which has bark stripped from the side another one from a home with walls missing and still standing. the people in the photo are bundled up in winter jacket and hats, snow even fell on the damage, a little more than 24 hours after the tornadoes. this was a late winter stick. we will talk about that in a second. first checkout the temperatures, they're a lot colder. we're sitting in the mid-20s at the international airport. 13 the windchill, it's colder 12 degrees colder than this time yesterday, we are in for a cold winter day. take a look at downtown. clouds, flurries on the atrium weather camera. we are going to see winter return today and tomorrow snow and rain return to the area. could be a little accumulation with some of that snow, things will start to warm up, and warm up significantly next week, we're right at the time of the year when the temperatures can take wild swings. we will see that in the planning forecast coming up in minutes. 25 now, a west wind at 15 and a windchill of just 13 degrees, clouds even flurries around for the start of the day. we will see the clouds gradually increase, to around the freezing mark at noon and we will top out around 37 by 4:00 this afternoon, some more clouds will roll in late day. you will see a fair amount of sunshine out there through the afternoon. this is a look at precision doppler 12hd. snow flurries, they are more numerous as you head to the north and east of cincinnati, none of this is sticking over the next couple of hours, we will see flurries continue to dot the area, but again no problems for most snow flurries, it's part of an area of low pressure, came through yesterday, brought the rain, the wind last night, it's moving away the backside of this thing. we still have a few flurries flying, a few things clearing in illinois that is coming our way. we watched this system it's in montana, producing rain and snow showers up here. this particular upper level system we highlighted there, it's going to dive down to the south tomorrow. that is going to be enough to produce some rain and snow showers around here tomorrow. so let's put everything in motion, morning clouds and sunshine for us, disment clouds thick --en and in the clouds thicken again late tonight into tomorrow. a chance of snow showers early tomorrow, around 7:00, and notice, rain and snow dotting the area tomorrow afternoon, we go north of cincinnati primarily some wet snow, south of cincinnati, well, mainly some rain here so it's going to be quite the mix over the area tomorrow evening a lot of folks will end with rain and drizzle as the system pulls out and quiet weather comes on friday as we return to the low 40s, but another system coming friday night there in illinois will drop down over a saturday, a chance for more snow and rainshowers for the start of the weekend. it doesn't look like much snow from the ohio river south but as you go north of cincinnati i can't rule out a slushy inch or two of accumulation during the day tomorrow. we will continue to watch that, a lot of it depends on exactly how cold it is. there's still a little uncertainty. 37 the high too temperature today. sun through the clouds tomorrow. down to 29 at midnight. clouds roll back in during the overnight hours, a low of 28. 39 snow and rainshowers tomorrow, quiet friday, 41 and more snow and rainshowers, 49 on saturday. sunday a beautiful day up to 54, and next week the 60s return to the area with spotty showers monday, a chance even if tuesday for a few showers to be warm into the upper 60s by tuesday of next week. the warm up is coming. we may touch lomax lands if we're lucky, 70 i will checkout traffic with jen. we have developed an accident that is going to cause some headaches for folks out near the harrison area. campbell road between production drive and west road. there's an accident there with injuries, and i'm hearing that they may have to close that area. that is campbell between production drive and west road, you will want to avoid that area because of an accident with injuries. while we're out that way, 74 at morgan road. not much to see on that camera. traffic picking up in volume but nothing to worry about so far this morning. seeing heavier traffic, i-71/i-75, you are heavy from kyle to the ohio river in the not unusual to see. that 71 picking up near phi fer, pfeiffer, but none of those are unusual areas of congestion for this time of the morning. student at madison township are about an hour away from returning to the scene of slighting that left two teenagers shot. classes are back in session today. and add many clement joins us back, at why school administrators felt the urgency of getting the things to return back to normal. >> reporter: he was candid with me, he said the number one priority is to get the students, the teachers, the faculty and staff in a position where they can feel safe, where they can move on. not an easy thing to do, but the sooner everyone moves forward, the better everyone will feel about returning to school. that is why last night they had an open house, allowing and staff anyone who is involved with the school. they were invited to come in inside, and walk the halls and even the cafeteria. things have been chaotic in this tight-knit community, going back to monday morning, that is when justin hancock walked into the school cafeteria. he had a loaded 380 caliber handgun and began firing. two student were shot, and three were hit with shrapnel. hancock took off running, but he was tracked down and arrested almost immediately. most stud student agree, that last night's walk through is what they needed to feel more comfortable returning forward. >> i feel better after tonight. >> i think they're going to be fine. >> i think that first day is going to be kind of touchy, but they will get through it. >> reporter: you know, i did find it a little interesting he is a the superintendent here in the district. he wishes he could have a chance to speak with hancock, and find out why exactly this happened. now whether or not he gets that opportunity remains to be seen. of course, hancock has to go through all of the legal proceedings here. it shows the level of the commitment that this district has toward making sure that everyone feels safe. making sure something like this never happens again. reporting live in mad madison township, we will send it back to you. thank you, adam. speaking of hancock, he appeared in juvenile court yesterday, his attorney entered a plea of denial and his pretrial hearing is set for april fifing. 5th. if it can happen to district are wearing red in support of madison junior senior high. new this morning, a woman is in the hospital after she was shot late last night. the 25-year-old was returning home at eagle watch westbound columbia parkway will be reduced to two lanes in a few hours. city crews need to remove dirt and debris in a hillside east of kemper lane. it became unstable during small mudslides yesterday. the lane closures start at around 9:00 this morning. the university of cincinnati wants feedback on its police department. a review started last month in response to the tadly deadly work. looking at downtown cincinnati on this cloudy, cold morning, and there. those are going to start to move out but winter, it returns today. temperatures will not make it out of the 30s this afternoon. tomorrow another weather system is going to move our way. this is going to bring some snow eventually he mixing with changing rain in the area. could be a little bit accumulation, especially as you get north of downtown in cincinnati. we're watching that carefully and things are going to warm up into next week as we get spring-like weather in here. it's 25 right now. it feels like winter. west winds at 15. and look outer windchill only 13 degrees. a lot of it is student going off to the bus stop. they're layered up ready for this cold. mid-30s midday, and clouds flurries and we start to see decreasing clouds by the afternoon. at noon, and 57 degrees at 4:00 in this the afternoon, and clouds will start to thicken up again during the overnight hours. there's precision doppler 12hd, still picking up snow flurries dotting the area, and especially from cincinnati over point east, and we will see the flurries beginning to move out the area. the low pressure, the rain for us, the wind is pulling away from the area. you can see snow flurries associated with that on the backside of that low. let turn our attention to the next system that is up here developing in montana, it's bringing rainshowers, snow showers to them. this is upper level system is going to dive south tomorrow. there it is in the red shading and the yellow shadings, it's going to dive south through missouri and tennessee, and that is going to spread some precipitation back in our direction during the day tomorrow. solet loop things into the future. morning cloud and flurries, moving out the picture today, sunshine this afternoon are and by late afternoon, we're talking temperatures in the upper 30s, tonight clouds start to roll tonight they thicken up. by tomorrow morning we will see a chance for a few snow showers dotting the area. temperatures are going to be in the upper 20s, we are going to have to watch that, because when we get snow showers pecly north of town could make for slick spots on the roads. tomorrow afternoon, that system arrives and we got a cut off between the rain and snow. green is snow, rain is snow, where is the cut off? over cincinnati as you go north of town. we could see accumulations and south of town in northern kentucky more in the way of rain. as we take you through tomorrow afternoon, slightly warmer works in, eventually change the snow offer to some rain. as you go from cincinnati north, we could pick up a slushy inch or two accumulation, generally less than an inch south of cincinnati. that is the projection now. this could certainly change depending on temperatures which are expected to get into the upper 30s and low 40s. any of those rain and snow showers moving on out tomorrow night near 30 on friday morning. friday afternoon quiet weather, low 40s on friday and then another system is going to come in here saturday. that will bring snow showers, changing over to rainshowers again. we get warmer, though, saturday up to 49 for a high, and checkout the forecast sunday, 54, partly cloudy, monday and tuesday a chance for showers returning, but look at the temperatures, low 60s monday, upper 60s as we get into tuesday. so
