In the past hour, weve learned someone called 911 from the house around 2 30 this afternoon. Detectives say it was a distraught call. Now were told the mother and teen lived at the home with the man. The man left early this morning and came back this afternoon to find them both dead inside the home. Right now, the Sheriffs Office is saying this is a double homicide investigation. Theyre working to confirm the identities and notify the next of kin. Theyre also working on canvassing the neighborhood. Again, a mother and daughter found dead inside the home. From what we can see, it looks like the investigation will continue on until the night hours. Thats the latest from pine hills. Thank you, jen. A history of violence and Mental Health issues. Tonight were finding out more about a man who is in Police Custody following the stabbing a man is being held on a psychiatric hold following the death of his girlfriends 81yearold father inside his taft home. Hes not yet been charged with murder and now news 6 is looking into how he was able to go unmonitored on the streets without receiving any Mental Health. News 6 reporter Troy Campbell is outside the home and after going through Court Documents and speaking with a legal expert, you what did you find out . First, this is the home where the 81yearold man was found stabbed to death on saturday. Neighbors say his daughter recently moved in with him. The other person of interest, her boyfriend. A quick Search Online shows Court Documents, having an extensive history of Mental Illness. So you dont hear about these cases very often. When they happen, though, the problem is the court system and Mental Health system is not really designed to deal with these situations. Court records showing the 53yearold man found not guilty after stabbing his mother in 2007. Legal expert Stephen Kramer says because of floridas strict standard on Mental Illness, very rarely is someone actually found not guilty because of Mental Health. Court records show he was diagnosed with Mental Illness as a teen. His sister writing a judge he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. By 2012, 2013, hes no longer being treated on an outpatient basis even. Hes released no more monitored treatment or outpatient treatment and basically free as of 2012, 2013. His Outpatient Treatment Center writing this letter to the judge in 2011, saying he had been compliant with his treatment and wanted to live on his own. Several months later his sister writing this letter to the same judge saying, quote, david needs help and needs to be taken off the streets. Hes going to get killed or kill someone. Kramer says often someone who become stable after taking medication but once that stops, their behavior become unpredictable. They both involve parents. Its really important to note that hes not been charged with a crime in this case and either has the victims daughter. The criminal charges are still just being called persons of interest. We also asked investigators where they were able to locate them and if they could be charged with murder. Their response, everything still under investigation. Thank you, troy. We now know the name of the jogger who was hit and killed early this morning along the dirt road in cocoa. He was hit by a car on satellite boulevard at dean avenue and cocoa off the 520. In fact, i just talked to troopers here who drove by in they think the driver could be in a Gray Chrysler because of what was found right around this ditch. They think that that car may have some damage to the front headlight and or the front turn signal. The thing is, troopers say this jogger might have lived if this driver had not left him here to die. I stood five feet away from him. Jim reynolds was the second person to discover the jogger in this ditch, now identified by troopers as jason rodagear, just 39 years old of cocoa. He wasnt all bloody like i heard people say. Thats critical because whoever hit him along this dirt road had stopped and helped, the victim might be still alive. Weve seen so many crashes where the person was alive when they were hit, based on their features and how they got away from the point of impact. We dont know, had this person received immediate care, what troopers found pieces of the car or truck they think slammed into the victim. They collected the evidence in bags. Broken headlights or turn signal lights, now trying to narrow down exactly what kind of vehicle it was and when it happened. Investigators think he might have been laying in this ditch for hours before his family found him. No matter what happens, whether you think youve hit a sign, a pole, animal, you stop immediately and see what youve hit and you call 911 immediately. And the sad irony here is that just today, troopers announced their Awareness Campaign to try and stop this growing trend of hit and runs. Especially deadly hit and runs.
