to break into an apartment and died when he was confronted by the people living there. it happened around 6:00 this morning at the oak reserve apartments on aloma avenue in winter park. eric sandoval has been digging deeper into this and you just learned new details about this. >> we actually got an e-mail from a viewer after our 4:00 report on this, detailing some of the possible events that led up to this incident. we walked that information in to investigators into the orange county sheriff's office. right now, the investigators say this appears to be a homicide case but right now at least it looks like this homicide was justifiable. ever happened here the four years i've been here. >> he can't believe what happened just a few doors down from where he lives. >> early this morning, orange county deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a break-in in the second story apartment. they say they arrived to find a hispanic man in his 20s, dead on the ground outside. the residents say they stabbed him, killing him as he made his way inside. >> i would defend because i do live with somebody else, i would defend her and me to make sure we're safe. >> the neighbor says he thought the complex was safe. he says two members of law enforcement live here. there. people are crazy and people need to defend themselves. >> news 6 found out the man who deputies say was trying to get inside knew the people inside the apartment. they say he's done this before. that case was turned over to the state attorney's office for them to decide whether to prosecute the case or not. >> there was a relationship between the occupants of the apartment and the man trying to break in. >> but you can't tell us what holding back on some of that. >> so what were the details of that first case back on december 5th? we're working to find out right now. but first, we need investigators to release the identity of that suspect. right now, they say they're still trying to track down his family to deliver the news. we're live at the orange county sheriff's office tonight. >> thank you. now to a crime tracker alert in brevard county. an urgent manhunt tonight for a suspect who police say robbed a bank in rockledge. police are searching for shane cooper, the getaway driver after he and the gunman robbed the space coast credit union last friday. we have some surveillance pictures from the robbery. detectives identified the man in the pictures. they say he walked into the bank with a handgun, went up to the teller and demanded cash. after getting the money, he jumped into a white car and drove off. >> right now, authorities say hyman is in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds convenience store robbery in cocoa that happened on tuesday. here's another look at the suspect astronauts had already accomplished quite a bit on this walk. they were replacing a voltage regulator that failed a couple of months ago. when there was a reported water bubble, the planned six-hour with the big drive update. >> certainly was a rough morning. all that rain combined with construction did mean for a slow go for a lot of drivers this morning. that means project managers are looking for ways to make sure some of this doesn't happen with the next round of storms. >> heavy rain this morning meant big slowdowns on i-4 near parr. a jackknifed semi blocked eastbound lanes shortly before noon. then road rangers closed two lanes because of standing water. >> we had flooding in the eastbound lanes of i-4 near parr street that was caused by a combination of heavy rains and the construction activities we had going on in the area. thankfully no one was hurt in the incident. there was, i believe, only one water. along this stretch of the big drive. bridgework continues at princeton as crews continue to unload support beams. you can see where the roads will be expanded as the interstate is widened. expect to see a lot more workers and workers over the next few months. >> we'll have 400 and 600 new workers coming on this job. this is a design-built job. crews are working on the design plans which are coming to the point they can be released for construction which means more work can be done. >> and with pile driving comes big noise. project managers tell us most of the pile driving will be continuing through the day because of this. we found workers this week installing sound barriers through the college park area, one of the eight areas along the 21-mile stretch where the barriers are going up. the workers are moving the old watch out for more students from ucf are proposing a new transportation system to spacex. it would make traveling between two major cities a whole lot faster. take a look. these are some images of the designs of the project called hyper loop. two teens are planning to show off their designs later this month. the founder of spacex and tesla motors first proposed it in 2013. the hyper loop would go 760 miles per hour taking passengers from l.a. to san francisco in, get this, 30 minutes. you can't even get out of l.a. in 30 minutes. >> you can't go a block in 30 minutes. >> that's really cool. >> i'm curious to the islands tonight, we've gotten rid of all the big heavy scattered showers. everything is groovy in central florida but pouring in bimini. overnight lows this morning, even with the rain we did okay. we dropped to an overnight low of 62. 57 in the villages and 50 in gainesville. we rebounded nicely to a daytime high in orlando of 75 after the overnight low of 62. normals are 71 and 49. records on the day, 86 and 72. so those are fine. daytime highs, temperatures made it back to 74 in sanford and 75 in orlando and 77 in kissimmee. right now, we're holding at 66 in gainesville and 69 all over brevard county. >> clouds and rain forecast, this is where the big changes are going to be very evident for you. come take a look. tonight we're doing okay. but patchy fog sets up by most of it burns off by 9 or 10:00. by 11:00, enough sunshine that i think we're going to warm rapidly into the 70-degree range. we have a daytime high of 77. saturday night looks good. futurecast keeps trying to throw in a shower. i'm not buying that. i think we stay beautifully dry tomorrow. sunday, that's a big difference. next cold front is 6 a.m., pushing in the big zone and producing big scattered showers. look at 8 a.m. there's a whole lot of rain from the coast. by 10:30 the rain is gone and the cold air settles in. lows tonight in the 50's, so no worries there. the official
