Tonight, police hope parents will talk to their children if theyve met this man. A man under arrest after a young teen says he was sexually attacked and held against his will. It happened at a home on grandview avenue in Daytona Beach off a1a and International Speedway boulevard. Police tell news 6 reporter loren korn there may be more victims. Parents on the street told me they knew something was not right about their neighbor who lives in the blue house behind me. They tell me theyre just thankful hes now behind bars. And police say he could have more victims. It was inside this home on wednesday afternoon where police say the 53yearold john whirling sexually assaulted a 13yearold boy while playing video games and then tried to keep him from leaving. Investigators say the boy escaped, ran home to tell him father and called 911. It was very scary, to know your nextdoor neighbor is like that. From whirling and says she never allowed her son to go over there after hearing other kids talk about the gifts whirling was buying them. Nike air, scooters, gift cards for christmas, 50 each gift cards, things like that. Of course, i knew right away. I was like, are you kidding me . The boys father tried talking to the man immediately after and says the man threatened to kill himself. Would you state your name, please sir. John whirling. A judge ordered him held without bond on all three charges. Police are investigating to see if there are more victims. It was basically a matter of time. In Daytona Beach, loren korn, news 6. A Crime Tracker alert out of Brevard County to tell you about tonight. Surveillance video shows the crooks who found a womans lost wallet and took her credit cards on a daylong spending spree. Police tell news 6 reporter Justin Warmoth the bad guys may be a part of a much larger crime ring. Victim told me shes very upset about what happened. She had her credit cards, debit cards, drivers license and some insurance cards in that wallet. What happened was she was headed to the gas station, had her wallet like this. So when she got out to go inside, it apparently fell on the ground without her knowing. At first she thought she left her wallet at home. About an hour and a half later, charges started to rack up on those cards here at this walmart. Its just a real you know, its a real bad situation for me and my family. Its been a frustrating couple of weeks for this rockledge resident, roxanne kyle of a losing her wallet at the gas station. The four people who picked it up went on a nearly 2,000 shopping spree with her credit cards at two walmarts nearby. I was really disappointed. I was really, really upset. They got my drivers license and car keys. We had to change the locks on the doors to the house. 10 30, theyre in cocoa walmart doing a shopping spree. The lieutenant with the Rockledge PoliceDepartment Gave us this Surveillance Video from inside both of the stores, one on clear lake road in cocoa and the other on wickham road in vierra. In the video, four suspects, one man and three women, are seen taking tvs, video game consoles and even bedding before driving off in the white suv. They were very cool, very calm. They had their story down. Because of that, police think the suspects could be part of a larger theft ring in Central Florida. The lieutenant points out the male suspects tattoos that can ultimately catch someones eye. The tattoos would stand out like a sore thumb. I would hope someone can i. D. Them so we can get them off the street before they do this again. Mrs. Kyle says the bank and walmart are working right now to get the money back on her card. Thats the good news tonight. Walmart would have checked for i. D. When the suspects were well, tonight news 6 is getting answers for victims of a huge computer hack at ucf. Yeah, names and Social Security numbers have been compromised and ucf leaders still do not know exactly how this happened. Some 63,000 Social Security numbers and names were taken, including those of current students, former students, some as far as the 1980s, and some current and former staff and faculty members. Specific Student Groups were apparently targeted, including current and former athletes, most from this year or last. It also includes a larger number of past and present student workers and past and present Student Government leaders. I work hard for what little money i have. To see something as big as ucf be able to be breached so easily and lose 60,000 Social Security numbers, you would think there would be better defenses. News 6 found out today the school has known about this hack since january 8th. Told until now. Even if you suspected a Student Group or a Faculty Group what may have been breached, why wouldnt you let them know immediately . We want to be sure we know whos involved. Ucf has set up a hotline for students to see if they were victims and a website designed to answer their questions. We have linked you to them from the story on our home page of clickorlando. Com. Marion county sheriff is defending his deputies after a shootout that left one of his men in the hospital and a suspect dead. On a message posted to facebook, the sheriff chris blair says the man was suicidal. In contact with the subject, he raised one of the hand guns to his head. Deputies began to negotiate with him, trying to have him put down his weapons for the safety of himself and others. But sheriff blair says the 31yearold man pointed the gun at the deputy and opened fire. Cell phone video shows the perspective from across the from a local bar and barbershop gathered. The sergeant was shot in the leg. He returned fire at the marathon kangaroo express gas station on southeast 58th avenue near silver springs. The sergeant is now out of the hospital and recovering at home. The zika virus has now spread to a fifth florida county. With 12 cases confirmed, governor rick scott has expanded a state of emergency. While there are no cases in Central Florida, it may be just a matter of time. Its like its really bad in my country. Since then, the league has promoted its own messages regarding Domestic Violence incidence, including this one said to air during the super bowl. And the nfl has made policy changes, possibly suspensions and lifetime bans for offenders. But is that enough . This. But it has to be the coaches and owners who say not on my team. A cultural change playing into the solution, not only raising awareness but also showing what a healthy relationship looks like. Trust is really, really important and boundaries are really important.
