A stretch of challenger parkway is shut down now because of this. Amanda castro has been following the story for us and joins us live. What do we know about this thing . Reporter well, we know the flames actually burned up to the roadway. Thats why state road 407 is shut down. Troopers are on scene directing traffic away from the blaze. If we take a few steps in this direction, you can see down the road its still a very active scene. But the smoke over there is thinning out a little bit. Heres video from sky 6 as it flew over the brushfire earlier this afternoon. You can see there were large flames and the windy, dry weather conditions fueling the blaze. Crews say its about 35 acres in size and they have it about 90 contained. Ive also seen helicopters out today dumping water above the right now, no homes or structures are in any danger. The flames did spread to state road 407. The roads are closed between i95 and state road 405, causing traffic problems for drivers trying to get home. No word when the road will reopen, but we are told troopers will be posted along the roadway because of possible smoke and fog left over from the fire. Right now, the cause is unknown and under investigation. Something you dont normally see while out at a brushfire, weve seen several fighter jets and planes flying above the air because the air show is going on to the east of us. It looks like the brushfire isnt stopping the show. Matt as it shouldnt. Thank you very much. This is the second brushfire in Brevard County in the past 48 hours, too. Four homes were damaged in a palm bay neighborhood on wednesday. The brushfire is at about 45 acres. Its contained now. Central florida all week long.
