three of the government shut down. >> a white house meeting produced no breakthroughs last night. the major players in the government shut down show down returned to their war of words today. >> speaker john boehner won't let the bill get a yes or no vote because he doesn't want to anger the extremists in his party. >> president obama accuses republican leaders of giving into tea party members who are obsessed with stopping his health care reforms. >> we should sit down and have a discussion. because it's my way or the highway we are here. >> republicans are trying to take a piece mill approach to open some parts of the government. today they're pushing to pay national guard troops. senate democrats call that strategy a rash. a poll shows that more americans blame republicans for the shut down and that most americans want compromise. >> many republicans acknowledge a bill to fund the full government without any strings attached would pass the house easily if republican leaders allow the vote. >> the shut down as put some 800,000 federal workers on unpaid leave and closed national parks, government websites and office buildings. there's another budget crisis looming. two weeks from now the u.s. government will run out of cash to pay its bills unless congress agrees to raise the debt ceiling. >> in washington, danielle nottingham, wjz eyewitness news. >> president obama spoke today from the m lewis construction company in rockville. it's one he said that's grown because of low interest rates. the navy and air force football game will be played in annapolis saturday despite the government shut down. the academy's football program is funded with non-government money. the game is sold out and is one of the most notable home games on their schedule. all other athletic events involving naval academy sports clubs are canceled. all the school's academic faculty is on furlough. no classes are held. you can see that game saturday live right here on wjz. look outside your window. it's another nice summer-like day in our area. at druid hill park guys were working up a sweat playing an afternoon game of basketball on the court. another live look outside through our harbor cam. it's warm and sunny with a few clouds out there. there it is. meteorologist tim williams is in the first warning weather center tracking things that could impact our weather in the next week. good afternoon. >> good afternoon. we'll talk about this in kind of a one and a two. the one is the temperature. we're looking at temperatures around 77 degrees 71 is our normal high. we're already at 77 ron the 2nd day of october at noon. we're going to be watching the warm air stays with us. our dew points will go up so we'll have more moisture and humidity heading into the next few days. tropical storm karen is now a disturbance that's gotten its act together enough it's named a tropical storm as of 9:00 our time this morning. 63 miles per hour winds, movement to the north and northwest at just around 12 miles per hour. you see that cone of movement and uncertainty. it's going to lift into our direction. we're talking monday into tuesday. what it means is that it's not going to be a tropical storm when it gets here but that moisture is moving in our direction. we'll talk about what that means next week and how warm these temperatures get this weekend in your come first warning weather forecast. >> thank you. frightening find. baltimore county police are investigating a body found near robert e lee park. mike schuh just finished speaking with police. he joins us with the latest. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. at 450 acres the park is crossed by rails. on one of the running trails police found the body. >> the main trails get a lot of use. it's here on the western edge a gruesome discovery. >> the officers found the body of a deceased man. >> robert e lee park begins at the tree line but this is not a popular part of the park. the body was found 150 yards off falls road. >> it is along the trail but this time 1:00 in the morning is not going to be too much foot traffic out there. >> the man is identified as 49-year-old reed haney from wilmington, north carolina. word of the finding of the body is unsettling. >> i guess that proximity is enough to make me worry more. >> police are stopping short of calling us this murder. >> we're waiting to see if we have a crime yet. we're awaiting the results of the autopsy. once there's a ruling we will continue to pursue our investigation. >> even so walkers are using caution. >> sometimes i come with friends. maybe i'll do that. >> reporter: police say they've they believe they'll be able to get a confirmation on cause of death this afternoon. >> thank you. police believe the medical exame able to give them a cause of death later this afternoon. baltimore county police are searching for who shot two people in middle river. sky eye chopper 13 over the scene on south thorn road. neighbors identifying the two as father and son, butch and brandon jewel. detectives believe the two were targeted for a robbery and this was not a random act. we're told brandon, in his 20s, was shot in the wheelchair he uses. both men are expected to survive. baltimore city police have a new public enemy number one. 26-year-old christopher good is wanted in the murder of his child. he stabbed her a dozen times. he should be considered armed and dangerous. anyone with any information should contact baltimore city police. clean up is underway in anne arundel county after an suv crashes into a home there. sky eye chopper 13 is over the scene near the intersection of thomas road and country club drive in glen burnie. it happened about 6:00 last night. the suv crashed into the living room wall. no one was hurt. the accident is under investiga. the ravens big trade with jacksonville this week is now official. eugene monroe passed his physical. it's still unclear what role he bus on its side ripped apart by the impact and lying on the side of the road. seniors from a church in north carolina were returning home from a gospel e festival when their bus crossed the median and hit an suv and then a tractor trailer. the pilot at the helm of a southwest jet has been fired. the incident happened in july at new york. the captain took over from the first officer when the plane in cockeysville. a report of a suspicious package. there's quite a bit of activity. white road shut down. now, york road was not shut down. because somebody was driving through her rubbing necking been calm all day. barometer high 30.12. temperatures ranging from 70 in cumberland and oakland to 80 in dc and pax river. 78 elkton, 79 westminster, 77 is the manic number from bel air, down to columbia over to annapolis and kent island. we're seeing a northeast wind towards dc. the flow is coming primarily from the south and that's helping bring our temperatures up. this is now tropical storm karen. that's going to be moving into the region. it's going to interact with this entire system, a warm front and a cold front that follows. that gets here by the beginning of next week. the cold front helps to bring that moisture up into the area. this is the cone of uncertainty here. it just gives you a range of the motion and the area that this storm could actually cover. it will be likely the remanence of this storm by the time it moves into our direction. it will not be a tropical storm. all the models have it coming in this direction but it's going to be rain. warm temperatures are going to lead the way. here's the front that's going to come through and touch off the chance of a shower tomorrow afternoon. nothing too major. it could maybe just bring some showers
