End. Its believed Christopher Dorner the excop turned cop killer is dead in a burned out cabin. Sources tell cbs news that Christopher Dorners body is inside this burned out cabin police cannot yet identify the body. They do believe dorner was inside when the cabin caught fire. Police had the cabin sur surrounded. We believe he was inside the bin inside the cabin still. Mr. Dorner jumped out in front of my truck and said get out, i dont want to hurt you. Police followed the suspect to a near by cabin and thats when the person inside opened fire. Carter evans captured the fire fight on his cell phone camera. Two Police Officers were hit. One is now dead, the other wounded. Police focused their search in the big bear area after they found his burned out truck here. Dorner didnt get far from where his truck was found. The cabin he was hiding out in was actually across the street from the Police Command post where theyve been running this operation from. Dorner is believed to have killed four people since february 3rd. He posted a manifesto on facebook where he claimed he was seeking revenge for being fired from the lapd. It is believed dorner earlier held two women hostage in another cabin before taking their car. The man was hire d by the university of maryland Campus Police this summer. He was training with the Baltimore CityPolice Academy out in rosewood. Now hes in Critical Condition here at shock trauma. This is video from chopper 13. A Police Trainee being loaded into a helicopter after being shot. It happened at the former Rosewood Center in ownings mills. Baltimore city police say a candidate in training was shot in the front of his head by a Baltimore PoliceTraining Instructor in whats being called a training accident. He is currently in the operating room with our chief of neuro trauma. Hes stable but any thoughts or predictions about long term neurological outcome at this point are way too early. It happened about 2 30 tuesday afternoon. The chain of events that led to the shooting is unclear. Its also unclear why a live round was in a weapon during exercise. The male only described as someone in his 40s was taken shock trauma. Our thoughts and prayers are with the trainee and his family at this tough time. Anthony bass said until a thorough investigation is complete all city Police Training operations are shut down. I immediately suspended all Police Academy operations and training through out the entire organization until we do an assessment and evaluation for safety. Reporter in addition, the police say that the command staff there at the academy has been told to stand down. This officer is in Critical Condition here at shock trauma with an injury to his forhead. More on the story we brought you as breaking news this time yesterday. A murder suicide near the university of maryland campus stuns college park. A student from Baltimore County is said to have shot his two house mates, killing one of them and then shot himself. Meghan me mccorkell has more. The university is still in shock with two students dead and another in the hospital. 23yearold devon green shot both of his roommates before turning the gun on himself. It started here inside the off campus home around 1 00 a. M. Investigators say green lit several fires in the backyard and the basement. When his roommates went to put them out green pulled out a 9 millimeter handgun and fired killing 22yearold steven rain. Another roommate was shot but managed to run away and sur ssh sur survive. Its unsettling to be that close to home. Green then shot himself in the backyard. Detectives say he suffered from a mental illness. This suspect has had this condition for at least a year. In the past he has been prescribed medication for this mental illness. Tonight the university came together to hold a memorial to remember those who died. Tonight were focused on mourning and remembering the people we lost. Many students shaken that this violence has struck their campus. Ive seen numerous crime reports being here for 4 years but nothing like this. Just the fact that theres students here brings us together. The entire community now uniting to try to cope with the tragedy. Police said devon green did own his weapons legally. He did not leave a suicide note. Green was a graduate student at maryland. He did his undergraduate work at morgan state. A School System employee is accused of having sex with a student. 35yearold Amanda Miller is accused of sexually abusing a 15yearold. They had sex in a car in his parents driveway. A number of nude pictures were also passed between miller and that student. This morning Pope Benedict xvi will lead Ash Wednesday mass. It is said to be one of the last major public appearances before he steps down at the end of the month. The pope is resigning because he said he no longer has the physical or mental strength to lead the catholic church. He received a pacemaker in 2005.
