49-yr-old william porter, the owner of the gas station. detectives believe the attack may have been a robbery attempt. >> i walk up in here every day. >> reporter: overwhelming to frequent the area. >> i'm going to be much more cautious. >> reporter: you can see this stretch of road is extremely busy where a with a lot of business. this is the first business to be attacked this way. >> this is the first situation like this in this area. >> reporter: kshetri has worked next door for years, and says he feels safe, only because he works behind a bullet-proof glass. >> reporter: police have no leads and they call the suspect's description vague. >> the suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 6'tall, 28 years old and he was wearing a black sweatshirt. >> reporter: porter report it. right now jurors are dead locked on the most serious charges about the man accuseed in this high profile crime. wjz is live in the courthouse at prince george''s county. >> reporter: here is where we stand, sources close to the court say the jury has received anonymous opinions on the reckless charges. but they are deeply divided right now on the most serious felony charges that vehicle manslaughter that faced taylor perhaps because the penalties are so severe and his car was not the main one that hit and killed eight people. taylor facing 80 years in prison if the jurors find him guilty. jurors have sent several letters to the judge reveal it is trouble they are having coming up with a verdict. >> the entire case is problematic, entailing whether or not they have the evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that mr. taylor was a coparticipate in the race. >> reporter: taylor slammed -- the man taylor was racing slammed into a car. >> i think in his mind he's in prison now, and it's hard. he's in prison now. he has to walk around, he has to see this, he has to hear this. he has to realize that these people are gone. >> reporter: the horrific accident on indian head highway more than two years ago sent body parts flying, witnesses say it sounded like popcorn when bodies hit the speeding car. it also exposed the dangerous sport and the underground culture of street racing that has grown for decades. >> you have to be into racing to, i guess it's like a thrill. >> we've called the cops a number of times unfortunately police officers wouldn't show up. we're hoping someone will make a stand and make a change. >> reporter: so again, sources are telling us that the jury knows what they want to do on those misdemeanor counts but it's the most serious counts they are having trouble with. we should know within the next hour or hour and a half whether the jurors will continue for the day or whether they'll send them home for the night, or investigation is ongoing tonight to what happened to a woman found bound and shot to death. >> reporter: someone found the 19-year-old in the 1500 block of park avenue. she was bound and had a gunshot wound to the head. the woman was taken to an area hospital. her condition is unknown this evening. >> anyone with information about this case is asked to call city police. we have some good news about baltimore city's homicide rate. for the first time. the rates for january and february is at its lowest. a high profile trial is heathing up. prosecutors have wrapped up their case against three cult members. derek valcourt is there with more on the evidence layed out by prosecutors. >> reporter: the prosecution spent more than a week laying out the case, today the defenses case, spent less than five minutes. mummified, that's how witnesses described the body of the boy. the boy was starved to death at the hands of a religious cult joined by the boy's mother. >> just heart wrenching. >> reporter: newton believes her daughter was brainwashed by the cult leading. a woman who calls herself queen antoinett. they starved the boy who could barely speak because he refused to say amen before dinner. >> it gives me the creeps, just being in the same room for them. >> reporter: the mother received a plea deal for testifying against the two other suspects. >> and i do believe that the jury crash happened 1/4-mile off the edge of anne arundel county. it crashed saturday shortly after 4:30 p.m. one witness saw the plane bank right as it approached the airport. those on the ground heard it hit. >> i heard a loud crash, like a big boat falling into the water. >> there's evidence that the airplane contacted trees before impacting the ground. the engine separated from the airplane an was located in the creeks near the accident site. weather is not believed to be the factor in this accident. in 2006, two fatal plane crashes happened near the airport. and in each case, the plane struck the earth trembled below, more than 700,000 people were killed in the fifth largest earthquake ever reported. >> the person sitting next to me was actually from chile. he was going to visit his family, and he was very distraught. >> reporter: the plane was diverted to dallas. >> we're thinking it's a very narrow miss, then your hearts go out to all the people in chile. what they must be going through. their worries about their family members. it's a sad feeling. >> reporter: all students and staff made it back to baltimore safely after that 30 hours of flying. staff over at loyolla university say they will do everything those that needed to go to chile for a class to graduate to graduate. police are looking for a 14- year-old girl who disappeared from her home friday. johnson is described as a black female, 4'11", about 120 pounds. if you have any information, you are asked to call 911. and the search continues for a missing california teen who disappeared while jogging last thursday. vic is in the newsroom with this. >> on sunday, more than 1500 law enforcement personnel and volunteers were out searching for the girl. investigators have arrested 30- year-old john gardener a registered sex offender who they believe is behind the girl's disappearance. chelsea king's parents are still hopeful their daughter will be found. >> she's respectful, bright, caring she's everything you look for in a great person. and, she's been that way since she showed up. i just want to get her back. >> charges against gardener still are pending. >> the search for chelsea has gone to facebook, where a page to find her has 45,000 followers. a washington d.c. couple got an unexpected and unwanted delivery. andrea fujiji reports that what the couple thought was a gift turned out to be a drug delivery worth thousands of dollars. >> reporter: melny schwartz thought it was a baby gift, and it turned out to be drugs. >> it could be a bomb, doesn't sound like a bomb. >> reporter: anderson couldn't leave the box alone. >> i said, this has to be good. i have to open it. >> but then i said, if you're going to open it, we have to take it outside. >> once i got into the insulation, i thought, it's either something refrigerated or it's something good. >> reporter: but when he got to the coffee beans, he knew that was used thomas thomased the smell of drugs. >> usually fed embarrassment of lice. >> the success rate after one week of treatment is very high at 91%. which is not seen with the more conventional treatments. >> reporter: the prescription medication called ulesfia uses benzyl alcohol lotion. it kills the lice instead of suffocating the lice like other medicines. >> a new medicine came about because of new resistance to the overthe counter medicines. getting rid of lice on stuffed animals, clothes and bedding is also key. preventing lice isn't easy. >> it's a life lesson. you're going to get through it. it's going to be fine and it's not the end caught on fire. an early morning fire destroyed three century old buildings. there are no reports of injuries. investigators say it'll take several months to find a cause for the fire. police say at least 14 similar robberies occurred over the last month, in each case, the group left with cash only. no injuries have been reported in any of the robberies. we invite you to check in with wjz
