Three people are dead following a shooting inside a delaware courthouse. It happened in near by wilmington, stunning people arriving for court this morning. Wjz is live. Are Jessica Jessica kartalija has the latest on the investigation. Reporter police did say it stemmed from a domestic dispute are are unclear of a motive. Delaware police are still trying to figure out what led to an Early Morning shooting inside a wilmington courthouse. A loan gunman walked into the lobby area of the county courthouse and opened fire. It happened around 8 00 this morning. I heard two shots. Thats when i re acted and turned around and he ran out of the building. Two women were killed, one believed to be the suspects exwife. She said theres been a shooting. As i stated before, i couldnt make out what she was saying because she was distraught. Im not sure exactly sure if it happened in front of her or whatever the case may be. Two Capital Police officers were also shot but wearing bullet proof vests and are expected to survive. The suspect was discovered dead at the scene. Were investigating whether that was the result of the exchange of gunfire or a selfinflicted wound. Police searched all the floors of the building to make sure there wasnt another gunman on scene. I have talked to them several times. They were moved to Jury Services and searched. My judges secretary was es courted out of the building by the swat member. Reporter now the shooting comes on the same day that wilmingtons police chief was supposed to attend a round table meeting on gun safety with Vice President joe biden. Thank you. Police arent release ing ing details on the identities of the victims. The manhunt for an accused cop killer continues in reporter good afternoon california in california. 600 tips have come in since the lapd offered a 1 million reward for former officer christopher dorner. We have hundreds of detectives and investigators that are working on every clue. Dorners whereabouts remains a mystery. Officers came out here, surrounded the lows, locked it down. Agents are stopping everything car crossing the mexican border. Dorners burned up pick up was found last week. Two dozen officers continue to search homes and cabins. They opened all the doors and looked in places a person could be. Investigators have been on dorners trail since the killing of a Police Captains daughter. Hes also accused of killing a river side officer on thursday. The largest manhunt has the department spread thin. Thousands of officers are searching for dorner as they also try to protect their own. Dorner vowed to shoot Police Officers and their families as revenge for his firing from the lapd 5 years ago. To have your family targeted because theyre related to you that is absolutely terrifying. Authorities are providing around the clock protection for 50 officers and their families. The lapd says the money for the 1 million reward is not just from Police Organizations corporations and private donors contributed. A man is charged with murder after he killed a woman and set her house on fire. Denise is live with more. Reporter police found the body of 32yearold Jennifer Conyers in the basement after putting out the fire. Monte carter was arrested over the weekend. Conyers was beaten to death. She was bound with electrical cords and dragged to the basement. When carter was arrested police say they found blood from the victim on his clothing. Police say carter used the victims atm card several times to buy cigarettes and other items. Thank you. Police say the victim and the suspect did know each other. Crime is just one of topics being covered by major Stephanie Rawlings blake in her annual state of the city address. The mayor says the economy and money issues remain the biggest problem for the city to deal with. Our city faces serious structural deficits between slow growing revenues and faster growing expenses. Without corrective action this shortfall totals nearly 750 million over 9 years. The put that number into perspective its more than what we spend on police, fire, health and recreation and parks annually. Long island got hammered. Some places got more than 30 inches of snow. Michelle miller reports from smith town. This is what a 32 mile stretch of the long island expressway looked like for much of the weekend. Car after car buried under the snow. There were hundreds of residents literally who were within miles after making their way back to their houses when the snow just swallowed them up. Similar scenes unfolded across long islands roadways. Even emergency vehicles were left stranded. If they had a plow we would be home. Many couldnt be freed until saturday. Police arrested the student at home and seized five rifles belongings to his parents. The 15yearold High School Student had just returned from president obamas inauguration and was seeking cover from a storm with friends in a Ken Wood Park when witnesses say a gunman opened fire last month. This morning they called her mother to tell her about the arrest, which came less than 24 hours after her daughters funeral. It has moved off to new england where all that snow fell over the weekend. Now some rain and ice on top of that snow. For us, heres how it looked when it moved through. Clouds broke up in western starts of the state this afternoon. Not so much over baltimore. We had the south western wind bringing in warmer air. A wind advisory is going to go into effect over night. Not quite the level of friday night into saturday morning. Wind gusts up to 40 Miles Per Hour out west. 30 Miles Per Hour for the rest of us. This is the warmth its bringing. 60 in cumberland. Its been a battle, but up to 50 degrees right now in baltimore. Thats about 8 degrees above where we were yesterday. Where its at 60, its 20 degrees warmer. We did top out so far today at 52 degrees. You can see the average is 44. Were way above average. Were not going to hang onto this warm for very long. Heres that massive storm. On the northern side there was a blizzard over the plains. For us, just some rain in between and thats now gone. Sunshine return tomorrow and when its down to our south its going to form a new low. This is a very interesting set up. Cold air will be in place and it will be over night starting wednesday continuing into the over night hours. We could see a winter mess around here. This is not a massive storm. For us a rain, snow, sleet mix is possible. That will start on wednesday and continue to the Early Morning hours of thursday before this will get out of here. We have a bigger storm coming in and still a lot of details to work out with that one but well keep you updated. Small craft advisory in effect through tuesday. He said he no longer has the strength to do his job properly. The decision sets the stage for mid march to elect a new leaders. Catholics in maryland and around the world are reacting. Mike schuh has reaction. It comes as a shock. The archdiocese arrange ed d a News Conference. Archbishop lori said he hoped to have a quiet morning. The news left catholics trying to understand what happens. At a News Conference the archdiocese of baltimore respected his decision. My single task this morning is to request the prayers of the faithful of the archdiocese of baltimore and the prayers of all women and men of goodwill for Pope Benedict, as he concludes his long and Loving Service to the church. Earlier after morning mass i shared the news with this woman. Im sort of very surprised. I guess im sort of shocked. Ive never heard of a pope resigning. I hope hes okay. You know, things will go on hopefully. The pathway to a new pope is clear. He can no longer serve as pope if hes no longer capable of doing the job. If hes too ill to bless as he should then i give credit to him for doing that. I have a lot of respect for him. I hope his health gets better.
