children's center. kelly mcpherson has the tragic story. >> reporter: jeremy jennings jr. has been here at the hospital since wednesday afternoon when the accident happened and he died just a few hours ago. a 6-year-old boy who went out the emergency door of a moving school bus has died from his injuries. jeremy jennings jr. was riding home to west baltimore from st. vincents. a special needs school. that wednesday afternoon a fight broke out. >> an aide who was on the bus attempted to break up that altercation. the child ran to the front of the bus and was unsuccessful in getting off of the bus at the front of the bus. at that time ran to the rear of the bus. >> reporter: the boy's family says they took him off life support at 5:30 on friday. friends say the bus aide are overwhelmed and undertrained to handle the students special needs. the maryland disability law center says safe and proper school transportation is guaranteed under the law. >> if transportation staff need training in order to be able to meet a child's needs, the school system should provide that training to staff. >> reporter: wjz reached out to the baltimore school district which handles transportation in this case, they did not return our call. kelly mcpherson. >> earlier today wjz reached out to the bus contractor but they did not return our calls either. december snow flakes fall on central maryland. this hill in owings mill was so slick and icy it brought vehicles to a standstill and caused a major roadblock. we begin with weijia jiang who spoke with drivers where the conditions were worse, weijia jiang. >> compared to what they saw last year, this is not a lot of snow but they say it certainly was enough to make the roads slick, crowded and a headache to navigate. an icy day in some parts of maryland quickly turned into a night of precaution. crews coated the roads with salt after traffic brought traffic to a snarl for hours. that's why lou marshall says he stayed indoors as long as he could. >> today i'm making sure i'm taking my tame, being real careful. if i didn't have to be at work i wouldn't be out. >> our phones are ringing out the hooks. all in this area of the major highways of 70s, 83. >> reporter: one call came from tony glacer who slammed into the back of a semi truck and drove into this ditch. in westminster there's more than 800-tons of salt ready to go. >> it seems to be early in the season, so i'm prepping myself for a nasty winter. >> reporter: while most of the 200 plus state highway trucks that were out, plenty are on stand by just in case. >> if you don't have to go out, then don't go out. it's better to be safe than sorry. >> reporter: transportation authorities want drivers to use today as a jump start to make those because now you guys might think that we have done that. but we haven't done that. all we did, he came to us, he wanted to learn about islam. we thought him about islam. but we didn't teach him what to do or what not to do. >> i will say again and again, that neither our religion or neither us we are bad peoples or you can say extremists or these kind of things. we are very loving people. >> the morning. clouds building out to the west as that low pressure moves through illinois up through the great lakes. it's going to draw this warm air up. so we see snow and drizzle. temperatures at 40. rain with temperatures running through the area. as the rain moves out. here comes the cold blast once again. there's old man winter. it's going to be windy and cold again. highs in the upper 20s to low 30s again. southeast winds around five knots in the bay. and the bay temp in the upper 30s. and probably dropping a little bit. 21 tonight to 28 downtown. with partly cloudy skies. and tomorrow
