[phone rings] >> hello, this is susan. richard: it began with a phone call. >> i hear crying, mom, mom. richard: she was convinced it was her 17-year-old daughter. then a man's voice. >> he was barking at me, i have your daughter. another she grabbed line in another room and called 911 and put the phone on speaker. >> i said, you kid that my daughter come your holding her for money? richard: the man kept demanding money. she jumped into her car and went to a grocery store. >> she was screaming and yelling. richard: she emptied out her bank account as a store manager called the police. >> she said that somebody kidnapped her daughter. richard: the security officers at the school. if anyone had approached me and asked for money. i said no. officersuntil arriving told her, susan had no idea that she was the victim of a virtual kidnapping scam. >> in a call like that, assume it is a scam, but handle it like it's serious. richard: this is the third case just like this one in fairfax
