First Responders who put their lives at risk during that deadly shooting. Good morning to you, washington, it is friday, september 27th, were happy to have you waking up with us, im
Autria Godfrey, scotts off. Im jummy olabanji. Lets get right over to meteorologist
Eileen Whelan for a check of your friday forecast, t. G. I. F. Whoohoo. Whoohoo. Were so excited here in the wjla studios and belfort furniture weather center. Comfortable temperatures. Reagan national 61, 56 our dew point, and winds out of the north at 3
Miles Per Hour. Still dark and, yes, sunrise keeps getting later and later 71 00 a. M. Sunrise this morning, 40 degrees in manassas and chillier in petersburg at 46 degrees. There are clouds, theyve been moving in through the overnight hours so expect a cloudy start. Thats just due to an easterly wind flow thats bringing in a little bit of moisture from the atlantic. So after we have those morning clouds, i do think that through the
Late Afternoon well start to see the cloud deck. Temperatures comfortable in the lower to middle 70s and just what we want to hear the weekend looks great. Ill detail that weekend forecast for you in a little bit but now lets see how things are looking on the roadways. Good morning, amanda meadows. Good morning, eileen. It is getting busy on 95 in virginia. If you use that stretch of roadway through lorton headed up toward the beltway we just picked up a crash thats already slowing things down around 38
Miles Per Hour. This is just after lorton coming into toward the beltway in the left lane. So stay over to the right, or if you can use route one as an alternate, it stick around much longer, starting to get overflow delays on route 1. 66 westbound cleared that earlier accident. Coming in from centreville on 66 eastbound. 295 north and southbound looking good for this time of the morning into the
11th Street Bridge but starting to build a little bit and a live shot from our traffic tracker,
Current Conditions along the beltway. Hes going to be heading down toward route 50 and hes going to take that inbound to check out the delays into 295. But for now you can see the outer loop moving from
Montgomery County into
Prince Georges County looking beautiful. Back to you. Ok, amanda, thank you very much. Looking good at 5 32, time is running out this morning on capitol hill. Thats right, lawmakers are working frantically to find a way to keep our government funded. Brianne carter live on the hill this morning with the latest on this story. Good morning, brianne. Good morning to you. Its a familiar scene here on capitol hill, getting right up against the deadline while congress is used to that, but were getting down to the wire here and with no compromise on the table it seems like a
Government Shutdown could be more likely. What we do understand that later today about 9 30 this morning the senate is expected to reconvene here. And then later they will take up the bill to fund the government through november 15th. However, it will not take away any money from the healthcare law. That is something republicans have been looking to do. Republicansled house already passed a measure that would fund the government but would defund president obamas healthcare law set to get in motion next week. The senate strips the bill of that language and is set to take that vote later today. The bill would then going go back to the house where gop leaders said the peared down bill is no good. When asked if it had a chance of passing the house house
Speaker John Boehner said i dont see that happening. Were not talking about just this issue, theres another deadline looming on capitol hill as well. The country is set to reach the debt limit in just weeks and many analysts say that could be even more chaotic and complicated here on capitol hill as they try to get another deadline right up against it but, again, were going to be watching capitol hill very closely to see exactly what happens here in the senate. Reporting live,
Brianne Carter, abc7 news. All right, so much to hammer out. Brianne, thank you very much. New this morning at 5 34 police are investigating an

Im channeling my inner panda, thats what im doing. Lets get to the forecast because its going to be a beautiful one today. There will be some more clouds. Were not really going to see all that much sunshine at least for the first half of the day. Clouds are moving in and thats actually helping to keep temperatures from falling off all that much. But still chilly. Warrenton, pb elementary school, 43 degrees, woolville in gaithersburg 55, 52 at clinton
Hill Elementary School in vienna and 54 at william s. Schmidt in brandywine, maryland. Winds are calm but slight northeasterly component. What does that mean . Dew point temperatures, notice east of 95 dew point temperatures in the middle to upper 50s. So theres just a little bit more moisture in there. Basically that northeast wind transports some of that moisture from the atlantic. And brings it on shore. Thats how we get the clouds. I show you our satellite and radar to show you those clouds moving in from the northeast to the southwest, also to reassure you there is no rain associated with this. So although there will be some clouds this morning and through the first half of the afternoon, there wont be any rain. Temperatures cool to start and then by about lunchtime 68 degrees, break out into a little bit of sunshine, just as everyone is getting off of work, kick starting that weekend. Temperatures with the cloud cover a little bit cooler than yesterday in the lower 70s and, of course, it is friday so were all looking forward to the weekend and this weekend forecast looks fantastic. Partly cloudy both days and 74 degrees. Amanda meadows joins us now in her bright, sunny orange. How are things looking on the roadways . Theyre looking great on the roadways so far, eileen. We do have an accident organic working on 95 in virginia slowing things down, building quickly. This is a live shot along 95 northbound as youre approaching that crash in lorton. The right lanes are thicker because people are getting over because the left lane is closed at lorton road. Thats headed northbound, again, toward the beltway. So if you see that slowing down around 27
Miles Per Hour on our live maps. We also are seeing things move right along once you get past that in toward the beltway on 395 northbound looking great on the 14th street bridge. Delayfree conditions on 270 for the most part. Starting to build a little bit as you come down from gaithersburg toward rockville and those southbound lanes completely normal for this time of the morning, all those routes in maryland, 95, route 29 and the bw parkway are looking beautiful at this time. And then weve got a live shot there along route 50 coming inbound at bladensburg, you can see that things are moving right along there but starting to build a little bit at that stoplight. Well send it back to autria and jummy. Amanda, thank you very much. 5 42, 59 degrees this morning. Coming up, weve got a really heart warming story of some super heros coming to the rescue. Early Morning, amanda meadows was talking about it, but something to be extra aware of as youre driving this morning, in and around your neighborhood. Clouds are streaming in from the northeast to the southwest so there is actually some clear skies over fauquier, shenandoah valley, but otherwise some of those clouds will stick with us throughout at least the first half of the day. Ushering in a light northeasterly wind. So bringing in a little bit of atlantic moisture and thats bringing us some of those clouds but none of those clouds clouds will produce any rain. Leave the umbrella this morning, kids. Temperatures 4859.
