Reporter we are now entering day seven of this search for the killers and still no clue where they are. Now investigators hope hunger makes them emerge. This morning, police are reportedly examining Surveillance Video from a mobil gas station less than a mile from the prison where the two escapees may have rummaged through the trash for food. The station which also features a Subway Sandwich shop opens at 4 00 a. M. Around that time they believe they may have emerged from the manhole as new details about the investigation into whether prison employee Joyce Mitchell had a relationship with escaped murderers richard matt and david sweat. Sources say in just the past year prison officials looked into whether mitchell who supervises the prisons tailor shop had that relationship with sweat but concludeds there was not enough evidence to take action against her. Obviously she was befriended or she befriended the inmates and may have had some sort of role in assisting them. Reporter sources telling abc news authorities want to know if mitchell was supposed to drive a getaway car friday night. If so she never showed and learned she checked herself into a hospital complaining of a panic attack. Abc news also learning investigators are speaking with other prison employees. Were talking to people who may have been involved. Reporter actions can be complicated and theyre warned not to share information that inmates could use as blackmail. From a safety and security andpoint. Thats always something addressed from the very beginning is making sure that those boundaries are not crossed or compromised. Reporter officials insist this is all something seriously looked at once the two murderers are captured. Make sure to look to your right. Reporter good morning, this is now the third arrest connected to what the fbi says was a brazen plot to target Police Officers in the boston area by young men who thought they had become part of an isis brigade operating inside the u. S. Against police or what they allegedly called the boys in blue. The arrest came just before sundown as the fbi and police moved in on this quiet neighborhood in warrick, rhode island. 28yearold Nicholas Rovinski taken into custody without incident by officers from the joint Terror Task Force. A couple of cars came around the corner and then they kind of went into the yard so i stayed out and watched and a couple minutes later he came out in handcuffs. Reporter rovinski under surveillance for the last ten days after this dramatic scene when 26yearold usaama rahim was shot and killed after he allegedly lunged with a knife at an fbi agent and a Boston Police officer. All right, theres shots fired. Reporter rahim seen in his High School Yearbook had reportedly set out to kill or behead a Uniformed Police officer as part of what he believed were orders from isis. The man arrested overnight, rovinski is believed to be part of that alleged plot. A neighbor told abc station wlne he had recently converted to islam and now the search goes on for evidence of his alleged ties to the isis plot. The fbi has not yet revealed charges against rovinski. He is set to be arraigned later today in boston federal court. Three. Three. Do they feel theres more out there. There are dozens now under surveillance by the fbi and joint Terror Task Force around the country believed to be connected in some way to isis supporters followers, sympathizers but men described by the fbi as potentially very dangerous. Well, what happened is a group of africanamerican activists in cleveland used an obscure state law to go straight to a judge with evidence against the two white Police Officers involved in that Fatal Shooting and the judge agreed there was probable cause to bring charges against both of them. This morning, the startling new development in the death of tamir rice. A judge ruling there is enough evidence to the officer who fatally shot the 12yearold boy with murder. Last december responding to a report of someone with a gun, officer loehmann shot and killed tamir seconds after arriving on the scene. It turned out the boy had a non nonlethal pellet gun. The ruling made after a group of Community Activists petitioned the judge to file charges say they did not trust the criminal Justice System to act. We are encouraged by is the validation of our efforts, we are encouraged that this is a step towards justice. Reporter the judge also ruling there was probable cause to charge officer timothy loehmanns partner, officer Frank Garmback with negligent homicide and dereliction of duty. The lawyer for officer loehmann saying the order issued by the Municipal Court does not and should not impact the independent investigation conducted by the Cuyahoga CountySheriffs Department and from officer garmbacks lawyer the investigation and final decision are still in the prosecutors hands. And, in fact the judge deferred to prosecutors and declined to issue arrest warrants for the two officers saying his ruling was only advisory.
