no gun has been found. we repeat, no gun has been found, but police are following up with the investigation. the school is still sheltering in place at this time. stay with abc 7 and we will bring you updates. we are also following a breaking news story in queen anne's county. a scary sight on the bay bridge overturned, leaving it partially hanging over that barrier. that crash snarling traffic on route 50. eastbound lanes opened an hour ago. brad bell is there live with the latest. brad, what is the scene out there? brad: it was an absolute mess this morning, as it always is when you have an incident of any sort on the bay bridge. this was a bad one, a scary one. it closed the entirety of the eastbound span, the one closest to us here, but if you look closely, you can see traffic is again flowing smoothly. the crash happening just after 8:00 a.m. -- a seafood company truck on its side, leaning against the jersey wall of the bay bridge, high above the chesapeake. all lanes of eastbound traffic coming to a halt. that traffic backing up for several miles. some will off to wait out the delay. >> i do not want to get stuck on the bay bridge waiting there. it scares me. >> it is too bad for me. late.why? >> i will be i have to work too many hours. brad: as crews worked to get to a traffic moving, emergency crews deal with the truck. fortunate, no one is hurt in the .wo-vehicle crash first, a potential fuel spill needs to be handled, and in the breake -- upd -- a away.d and towed convenient close call -- an inconvenient close call. >> it is scary that i might have been there for the accident. that scares me, too. brad: a lot of people scared. looking live, you can see both spans. if you look closely, you will see on the west down span, they are still running two-way traffic as well as the two lanes of the normal eastbound span. very complicated. they tried to get rid of the delays. hopefully the situation will clear up soon. brad bell, abc 7 news. jummy: thank you so much. as brad mentioned, this is having huge impact on traffic. daniel devereaux joins us with a look at the rest of the roadways. reopened they have westbound span. the congestion not resembling much more than usual weekend traffic. it is not too bad. as you look at the capital beltway, on the out of loop, -- outer loop, delays are pretty heavy, back to about route for 50, annapolis road. we will take a look at new york avenue. we have some activity in the area near north capitol street. this is first street southwest closed right now with police activity between o and p street. 95 at route 1, we see congestion in that area right 95 southbound scene brake lights toward route 23. back in the district, a closure -- mlk junior avenue southeast. the police investigation. that is the latest on the traffic center. jummy: danielle, thank you. we turn to vote 2016 and a rally for democratic front runner hillary clinton happening right now in alexandria. about 3000 supporters have packed the market square there and that is where senior political reporter scott thuman is standing by live with the latest on a rally that is getting underway soon, right, scott? scott: yeah. just about a half hour from now hillary clinton will take the stage, which will feel like a relief considering she went through the 11-our testimony marathon. this is what people might phaseer a 2.0 -- a second . today's rally will be the first of a new category and it is informed for her to do well as we look around market square here in alexandria. her supporters say she is gone through some tough weeks. she had the debate. she had joe biden make his decision, and then the benghazi hearing -- she escaped relatively unscathed. not without some damage. there is still the fbi investigation into her e-mail server. for the most part, her supporters say she did what she needed to do and got out without a lot of collateral damage. she has also been buoyed by the other peopletwo have dropped out. first, jim webb, and out today lincoln chafee saying they are no longer in this game. there is more of a very clear path. we talked with some people on the other side of the aisle, the chair of the gop here in virginia -- they talked a lot about why it will not be smooth sailing. we will have that, highlights, and some important fact-checking from yesterday's testimony all coming up tonight on abc 7 news at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00. jummy: thanks so much. another blow for republican presidential candidate jeb bush to tell you about. he has ordered across-the-board pay cuts to his campaign. staffers learned about the cuts in a conference call today. they were told some of their job functions will be changing as well. also changing this friday, some cooler air settling in in the forecast. meteorologist eileen whelan is here with a look at the weekend forecast for us. eileen: looking pretty good. i have to say, what great weather for a friday. it is cooler than yesterday, but still so nice. any of those morning clouds are now out of here. breakthroughs blue skies. 67 at reagan national. if you look closely, look at how red the trees are turning. we are getting close to peak. if you have chance to check out the fully today or all weekend long, it is going to look pretty good for it. the rest of the afternoon, topping out in the upper-60's with lots of sunshine. sunset tonight at 6:19. cabbages then dropping off into the 50's. if you are headed out to a friday football game, it will be clear, but cool after sunset. grab your jacket. tweet your game. we would love to hear update and share them with all of our viewers. if you making plans -- i am getting in new information regarding the timing of the rain chances on sunday, and i think you will like what i am trying. i will come to you from the belfort furniture weather center in a little bit with more on that. jummy: we, of course, are theing a close eye on forecast for sunday's much-anticipated marine corps marathon. john gonzalez is at the convention center with what is happening today to get the runners ready. john: the u.s. marine corps health and fitness expo is underway this afternoon at the d.c. convention center, and this, of course, is the preevent for the big event on sunday morning, the 40th marine corps marathon. ruby red shirts will be given out here for the runners -- ruby red for the 40th anniversary, and there is a lot going on. this is mark goldman. marx, tell me about the expert we have a lot going on. the registration is back here for 30,000 runners. mark: it is the marine corps marathon health and fitness expo. over 100,000 people from all 50 states and 59 countries arriving in the nation's capital in arlington virginia and the first stop is the health and fitness expo. every runner checks in here, get their participant bib, the ruby red. john: 26.2 miles. it is the fourth-largest marathon in the country, and this gentleman from phoenix, arizona, is going to be running in it. do you have your ruby red yet? asked not yet -- >> not yet. john: is it your first? >> yes. john: why is it important? >> i am a navy that. john: think you so much. keep in mind there will be road closures including eastbound lee highway, the key bridge. all of these roads shutting down as early as 4:00 sunday morning for this very popular event. at the convention center in downtown d.c., back to you inside. jummy: well, a crime alert now in the district -- police investigating a shooting in southwest bc. this one happened blocks away from nationals park. we are told the victim is in surgery right now. sam sweeney has the latest from the scene. sam: good afternoon. we were told by neighbors they 9:05 two gunshots at about this morning and that is when police rushed to the scene after frantic 911 calls. it happened in 1425 or street in southwest, about two blocks from nats stadium. you see investigators dusting forefinger prince. earlier this morning, -- four fingerprints. early this morning, cathy lanier was on the scene. homicide investigators were on the scene. as they've took him into the ambulance, they were putting his chest. we have been told the man is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery right now. as of this hour, police say they do not have any suspect or motive information. of course, if you were in this information and saw anything, mpd wants to hear from you. sam sweeney, abc 7 news. jummy: police investigating a shooting at seven and s street right now northwest. police are looking for a tan buick seen driving away from the scene. this is the same intersection where an unintended victim of a drive-by shooting was murdered back in august. coming up here on abc 7 news at noon -- a devastating crash. new details about the disaster on a bus in france, and what we have learned about the victims. and it could be the worst hurricane ever reported -- recorded in the western hemisphere. the latest track of hurricane patricia. thatn whelan is tracking storm and has a closer look at the conditions for the marine here at humana, we value sticking with things. when something works, people stick with it. more people stick with humana medicare advantage. because we stick with them. humana medicare advantage. the plan people stick with. announcer: you are watching abc 7 news at noon on your side. jummy: well, authorities believe yesterday's attack at a school in sweden was racially motivated. investigators say the primary and middle school was attended by mostly foreign-born students. a masked man dressed in all black killed a student and a teacher and stabbed to others at the school yesterday before police shot and killed him. in other news overseas, the president of france calls it an immense tragedy -- more than 40 people were killed in a fiery crash between a bus and a truck in southwestern france this morning. the bus was carrying a group of elderly people on a day trip when it collided with a truck. it is considered the worst road disaster in france since 1982, when 52 people died. 2016 now, hillary clinton has one less rival for the democratic senate nomination. this morning, lincoln chafee announced he is dropping out of at the women's speakers form in northwest d.c.. mr. chafee: after much thought i have decided to end my campaign for the presidency today. chafee, a former governor and senator from rhode island, had trouble gaining support in the race. his announcement comes days after virginia -- former virginia senator jim webb dropped out. it leaves hillary clinton, bernie sanders, and former maryland governor martin o'malley as the only candidates. of theis bracing for one stronger hurricanes ever recorded in the western hemisphere. hurricane patricia is a category five storm with winds nearly 200 miles per hour. it is headed toward mexico's pacific coast and it is expected to bring catastrophic damage including intense flooding and mudslides. parts of texas could also feel its effects. you just look on the satellite radar. i know, you have been showing us since "good morning washington," that is one of the biggest eyes and red storms i have seen on the left. eileen: this will go on record an impressive storm, something the national hurricane center has not reported on before. it is a true testament to how strong the storm's and our thoughts are with the folks with -- in mexico. they: here at home, we have redskins sunday, the marine corps marathon -- a lot going on. how is the weather? some of the moisture could be from patricia. a lot to monitor in the weather center. jummy: we will stick with you guys all weekend long. thank you. well, an arkansas state legislator made national med twoes when he re-ho of three of his adopted daughters. elizabeth vargas joins us with details and her exclusive interview. such a story when you hear about so many people working so hard to adopt children. elizabeth: it is. what really struck us and was shocking to many people and why the story became such a national sensation, nobody knew it was legal to re-home adopted children -- which is basically fighting someone else to say do you want to take my kids, find some lawyers, and it is done. ing process.vett the court has no oversight. people are passing children around like they are family pets . in this case, this family, a state representative in the state of arkansas, his wife, and three young sons, adopted these three little girls against all recommendations by the state, the foster care system by everyone involved. he pushed through the adoption, then said they could not handle it, said the girls were, according to many witnesses the family said the girls were possessed by demons, arranged, allegedly, for an exorcism, g the children. it created a huge outcry in arkansas. the laws have changed in that state. in 43 states, it is legal to re-home children like this. jummy: i know you have an exclusive interview with the former caseworker that work this case. elizabeth: we talked with everyone involved in this case, and yes, she spoke out for the first time about the case, the recommendation she had that the family not do this, but more important, we exclusively and for the first time meet the little girls at the heart of the case. they are the true victims here, and we are really happy to report they are doing incredibly well. you will meet them. they are just amazing, amazing little girls. there is a happy note for the end of this story, thank goodness. jummy: elizabeth vargas, think is a much cap we look for to that tonight on "20/20." coming up here on abc 7 news at noon -- a lawsuit filed against a popular health and nutrition store. jummy: we have a 7 on your side consumer alert now, and call it a tough pill to swallow for contrition superstore gnc -- oregon's attorney general is suing the company, accusing them of selling supplements advertised as natural, but spiked with synthetic drugs. metsays the claims are without merit and the company intends to fight the allegations. there are a lot of coming up ars weekend. vo: does hal parrish share our values?
