>> ? the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night ? ? >> a patriotic opening as runners counted down to the starting gun. thanks for joining us trade i'm kimberly suiters. thousands of runners pounded the pavement around arlington in a tradition more than four decades old heard ryan hughes takes us to this year's marine corps marathon. reporter: thousands of runners hitting the streets on a mission, 41st marine corps marathon. each runners setting their stride and conquering the 26.2 mile course for a different reason. >> i'm going to do the 22 push-up challenge. i'm going to drop and do 22 push-ups, 22 miles. reporter: marissa is cheering on her husband, who is competing in his first marine corps marathon. >> is here to support the united people he loves and can't be here. reporter: nickname the people's marathon, this race showcases the men and women who defend our freedoms. 28,000 runners are crossing the finish line today, representing all to he states and more than 50 countries around the world right after only two hours, 23 minutes, an army specialist from jackson city, kansas, was the first marathoner to finish. >> i'm so i'm proud of everybody who supported me. reporter: from mile 1 to 26, fans cheering on each runner. part of the nonprofit hope for warriors. after completing the race, mike got down on one knee and pop the question. >> gets her first marathon and my first marathon. it seemed fitting. my family was here to help with that. reporter: it's a day this couple will never forget, and a day to kimberly: branching with the redskins, and there was no winner. the redskins tying the bengals in london today. in a game coach jay gruden called a dogfight. highlights and reaction later coming up in sports. first, covering metro as red line writers braced for the impact from safetrack surged 10 coming on the monday morning commute. there's a full line shutdown fort totten stations, and two stations are closed. now a grim clips for the future of the rail system after the metro's general manager released what he calls a reality check budget proposal. reporter: under metro's safetrack, writers have already seen several changes and if this budget is approved, they could see even more changes. those changes would include cutting 1000 jobs. certain employee health-care bus services based on demand, increasing bus and rail fares, and trains would run every eight minutes in peak periods instead of every demand, increasing bus and rail six min. in the press release issued today, the metro general manager says the most difficult part of this plan is the impact for metro customers and employees. he went on to say that tough choices are required to balance the operating budget for the budget will be presented to the board's finance committee thursday. also be asked to approve a public hearing on the budget in december. if approved, the final budget would take effect on july 1 of 2017. we are currently in safetrack surged 10, which means writers are being impacted between fort totten and noma gallaudet on the red line. this metro station, brooklyn, and rhode island avenue are closed until the tuesday before thanksgiving. in northeast washington, prince george's county tonight. six people were shot, two teens were killed. this was at an apartment complex parking lot overnight. police identified the victims. rochelle connor is live and capitol heights with how family members are coping with their tremendous losses. rochelle? reporter: certainly emotional out here. we have much prince george's county police pull into the afternoon and into the evening. they are gone now, but the investigation continues. this is walker mill road, where six people were shot early this morning. two of them died right here on this road and both of them are teenagers. we want to show you overnight video. several people were taken away by stretcher. prince george's county police say it was 2:45 when they were called. they found these six people shot webb. we talked to webb's sister, who described him as a straight a student at suitland high school. >> when he was younger he always wanted to grow up and be a police officer. he always had his two little cowboy guns in his back holster. reporter: there are shooting victims. one of them has life-threatening injuries. the other person in the hospital is expected to survive. the two others had been released from the hospital. tonight we also want to tell you that police do not believe this incident was random. they're looking for anyone who might be able to offer information. if you have information that could lead to an arrest or an indictment, you can receive up to $25,000. we will bring you much more 11:00. reporting live in capitol heights, cheryl conner,, abc 7 news. kimberly: also in prestridge's county, a second deadly house fire in two days. the fire chief says nothing appears suspicious about the fire the left one person dead this morning on ballenger avenue in landover. we are told another person jumped to escape the flames. two people were taken to the hospital. crews were back in the neighborhood to check on smoke alarms this afternoon. deadly multi car crash in northeast d.c. from saturday afternoon. police say 31-year-old timothy johnson was speeding and at times, crossed the centerline, before hitting the back of a car which spun and hit two parked cars. johnson's car hit a parked suv. a 50-year-old died. five others were injured, including two children. charges against johnson were coming up at 6:30, a new poll showing donald trump narrowing the gap with hillary clinton. we are sprinting down the kimberly: democrats are pushing hard for fbi director james comey to share more information about a review of e-mails possibly connected to hillary clinton. members of congress fanned out across the sunday morning talk inappropriate and troubling. the fbi is reportedly still trying to get a warrant to review e-mails from a laptop shared by the clinton aide and her estranged husband, former congressman anthony weiner. in a letter, comey said, quote, the fbi cannot assess whether or not this material may be significant yet. polls newly showing a tight race. the daily abc news washington post tracking polls show clinton leading by 1 point matchup, three points head to head with donald trump. and various state polls, clinton maintains 3 to 4 point leads. recent polls show the race in florida is a dead heat. clinton campaign for a second straight day in florida. she attended church in fort lauderdale before surprising brunch goers in miami. afterward she told supporters who inspires her to stay clinton: my mom taught me to never, ever quit. what does that mean?
