Some preservationists hoped the building could be disassembledded, piece by piece and reconstructed elsewhere. After a marathon meeting a small park will be built here instead with a historical marker. But the spires will be kept on the site. The churchs demolition is making many people think of the sterlings past as a rail stop and the fastgrowing future. It could have been a pretty church when it was in good condition. I can see why they want to do that. But right now it doesnt look like much. Rather than tearing it down, it would significant element of the church and reuse them somewhere in the community. We have a lot of history here. That history is diminishing. Richard so in the end, unfortunately they could not get the plan together to try to take it apart and rebuild it elsewhere. Now even some of those who wanted to keep the church here say the developer did go the extra mile to try to keep the spirit of the church alive here. We are told demolition could happen any day now.
