well, just more than a week into the trump presidency and we have already seen a woman's march on the national mall, a march on the capitol against immigration, changes and protests at airports all across the country. as some of the immigrants are now detained. and in the last hour, virginia senator tim kaine joined the protesters out at dulles international airport. a lot going on. ryan hughes live at dulles with the latest on this one. ryan? ryan: yeah, jonathan, senator kaine just finished speaking to us 20 minutes ago after he landed at dulles coming from roanoke. he spoke to immigration attorneys that have been here all weekend long and he took time to thank the protesters who have been here for the third consecutive day. kaine said it has been a disturng there are so many things wrong with the president's executive order. mainly, there was very little thought about the consequences. >> i'm right where i am supposed to be for a reason. ryan: virginia senator tim kaine joining the protest and demanding answer from department of homeland security and customs and border protection, if travelers are being detained at dulles international airport. senator kaine: they told me as of yesterday morning no one has been detained at dulles. >> welcome! ryan: for the third straight day, protesters are packing the international terminal, welcoming passengers standing united after president trump's immigration ban from seven majority muslim countries. >> we can classify the folks based on their religion? that's not how we roll in the united states. that is not proper. i for one am not going to stand under and let it happen without saying anything. ryan: on saturday this mother waited for hours after her 5-year-old son was detained at dulles coming off a flight a team of lawyers helped her and they are still stationed at the airport offering free services to families. but they tell us custom and border protection is still keeping them in the dark. >> we are not getting nil more information today. it's -- not getting any more information today. it's the same wall of silence we had saturday. ryan: after days of confusion, protesters tell us they are not letting up. >> i feel like i should put my action where my words in the past have been and stand in solidarity. ryan: back live, you can see the protesters saying, "welcome" as another flight comes into dulles. senator kaine says that president trump's executive order needs to be stopped. again, he had a call with customs, border and protection at 1:00 this afternoon and they told him as of yesterday morning no one has been detained here at dulles. his office is working to live at dulles, ryan hughes, abc7 news. alison: all right, ryan, thank you. meanwhile this afternoon, washington state's attorney general filed a lawsuit against president trump for the executive order that sparked all the protests. his name is bob ferguson and he is one of 16 state attorneys general who released statement sunday calling the order "un-american and lawful." he is the first to official file suit. the council on american-islamic relations also raised their concerns today. >> the law is the law. due process and equal protection is what makes america great and not what donald trump is doing. jonathan: how about this? the american civil liberties union, the aclu say they received $24 million in donations just this weekend. that six times as much as the organization gets online in an entire year. but as cheryl conner found today, there are also plenty of peak who support president trump's crac s. >> i'm glad he did it. a lot of these people don't belong over here. >> it appears to me he is just shooting from the hip right now. cheryl: the mountain view diner offers up eggs and potatoes and a side of heated debate. >> we need to look out for our families. and our united states. cheryl: we got people stirredded up when we asked about trump's executive order to keep refugees from entering the country for the next 180 days and immigrants from seven majority counters for three months. >> it's just a way of of stemming the tide until we can thoroughly vet these people to find out who is coming in and what the intentions are. cheryl: but a table of running buddies says the order unfairly targets one religion. >> if you're an american indian you came here from somewhere. cheryl: mark lawrence says the president should give congressional leaders a voice. a neutral area. there are just about as many registered democrats as republicans. republican county councilmember calls the executive order a good starting point. >> if you look at the seven now banned, they have been hostile toward america, and anti-american. yemen attacked one of our navy ships. cheryl: a conversation that will likely keep going as long as the order is in place. cheryl conner, abc7 news. alison: meanwhile, president trump is moving forward with another executive order aimed at small businesses. from this point forward every time a new regulation is approved, two older ones have to be eliminated. president trump says this order will make opening and expanding businesses easier. regulatory agencies will identify which regulations to cut. however the white house will have the final say. jonathan: something else on president trump's agenda says he will announce tomorrow the pick for the vacancy on the u.s. supreme court. tomorrow night at 8:00. president trump: a person who is unbelievably highly respected and i think you will be very impressed with this person. alison: meanwhile, former president george h.w. bush was released from the hospital today after more than two weeks of treatment for pneumonia. mr. bush was admitted after having trouble breathing. his wife barbara was also in the hospital for some time. she was being treated for bronchitis. she was released a week ago but remained with her husband until his release. jonathan? jonathan: changing gear. 7 is on storm watch. after a lot of us woke up with coating of snow this morning and flurries continuing on and off throughout the day. this is video as you can see there of the marine memorial stormwatch7's c find out if we have seen the last of the snow. i was pretty while it was sticking around. doug: for now we have seen the last of it. a few hours ago we were loaded up with the snowshowers across doppler radar but that has moved out. let me move over to show what it looks like in rockville. this image is indicative of what it is like across most of the area with clear skies. we are 20 minutes from sunset here. a few bands of clouds on the northeastern horizon. 31 degrees in rockville. this everything the skies will stay clear for a while. rapid increase in cloudiness overnight will be down to 32 at 9:00 in the morning. as we head back to the early morning hours we will keep an eye on the next weather disturbance through the area. the core will stay to the north. we think the best chance for any slick spots and the roadways will be north of the metro washington area. temperatures wise 24 to 30 when you get up with light snow developing in the morning rush hour. that is what we are watching. the future cast shows a band sweeps through. the main area f comes through later in the morning probably 6:30 or 7:00. most of it will stay just north and west of the metro area. any more snow chances after that? believe it or not we have a big warmup coming here first tomorrow afternoon. we'll highlight ten days in a row for you coming up in about seven minutes. alison: sounds good, doug. thank you. meanwhile, new developments today in the case against deonte carraway. maryland bureau chief brad bell was in the courtroom when carraway admitted his guilt. brad: as a federal prosecutor read details of the case against deonte carraway in court, at least one young victim's parent had to get up and leave. others shook their heads as they heard the horrible truths about the indecent acts involving their own children. carraway recorded on his cell phone camera. those parents left court without comment. but the grand parent of a child who had been in contact with carraway says she is too angry to be silent. >> i think he betried us as parents -- betried -- betrayed us. brad: they agreed to let carraway plead guilty to 15 counts and mandatory sentence of 60 to 100 years in prison for one reason. >> it relieves the children of the risk of having to testify in federal trial. brad: carraway admits while working at a volunteer at judge sylvania elementary school, and as a glenarden youth choir director he repeatedly abused 12 children up until he was caught last february. this woods elementary school parent offering this message to carraway. >> you hurt a lot of people. you hurt a lot of people. brad: well, back live now at the federal district courthouse in greenbelt. you are looking at deonte carraway's signature on the plea agreement. this is the document he officially used to plead guilty. he will be sentenced in june. 60 to 100 years is the sentencing range. he is 23 years old. the u.s. attorney says effectively this floodwaters taking place in ellicott city? well, today marks six months since water swept down main street. look at that mess right there. it was terrifying. kathleen joins us with a look at the city after the floods. are they bouncing ba >> yes, shopkeepers are calling this anniversary a celebration of sorts. they are looking at all the progress they have made so far in calling it a milestone as they look toward the future. as the salon on main street, they are back in business. but still recovering. >> today is feeling the station tops. that a part we have been putting off. part of this whole process of coming back is a lot of little things. >> in july, the building foundation was washed away. since then like many businesses they have had to rebuild, remodel and reopen. they open their doors in november. so far, 73 of the 90 businesses closed have been able to reopen. >> it's a real testament to everybody across the country of what you can do when you put your mind to it and you come together as a community. >> on the six-month anniversary, county executive kittleman cri >> i still get frustrated when someone says should we be doing anything down? it's over a river. folks, ellicott city is going to be great for a long, long, long time. way past all of us here. >> which is why back at the salon, they don't talk about the flood anymore. only the future. >> come commute. doug: the roads were pretreated and the temperatures were borderline. all roadways were wet. a slick spot or two. tomorrow morning the areas get a little dusting again but it will be eight to ten degrees cold sore likely. our challenge is to find out what spots are likely to see it. we think it's north of the washington area. show you time lapse of the belle haven country club. it's 33 degrees there now. as we go through the day, the sun would come out. clouds would come through. we have a few more snowshowers here and there and snow flurries. skies cleared out and stayed cleared out. that is the story for most of the evening. if you have outdoor plans, dinner, movie theater, buy a nice gift for doug, whatever you have planned, skies are clear. but late tonight the clouds roll back in and tomorrow morning we have part two of the system. a different system. another adventure with the possibility of light snow. look at the numbers. if you are just getting home from work this is what we piled up as far as the local reports. dale city is 2.6 inches of snow. charles county, 2.5. falls church, over an inch. the zoo in washington, national zoo, 1.1. calvert county one inch. half an in baltimore area, no snow at all in many locations. in the 30s for a while tonight. still breezy at times. later tonight the temperatures drop in the 120's. the -- the temperatures drop in the 20's. we have low pressure that is extending through the northeast. most of it will make a pass toward pennsylvania. that is why we are confident that most of the snow will wind up north of the metro area, north of the baltimore metro area as well. but this time around the temperatures much colder so that means a likelihood as the snow falls that could cause icy passes and the slick spots. especially the closer you are to the pennsylvania line and farther west in maryland at the higher elevations. that is what we are seeing now. steve rudin will be in at 11:00 to update the timing and the facts but we're all on the same page with this. this future cast shows area of the light snow across the baltimore metro area at 2:30 in the morning, passing to the northeast. another batch ahead of the warm front swinging in closer to 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7: the morning and that's when i think we have the lowest temperatures of the day. but after that passes by it will change quickly. winds from the south and a big warmup in the afternoon. the way we see it in the stormwatch7 weather center. this darker shade is the demarcation of the best chances of dusting to cause issues traveling and a small area to the south. it's north of the washington area, north and northeast of the ballot m metro area through the morning. as the front gets through, the winds gust up to 15, 20 miles per hour. it will push temperatures out of the 20's. close to 40 in -- 50 in the afternoon as the storm center will turn southwesterly. later in the day they will come to the west and that will clear things out for us temporarily. we will watch a cold front come through wednesday with a chance of an afternoon shower. comfortably mild on wednesday. then more seasonably cold moves in for the rest of the week and the the sun come out and then it's like two seasons. then the next few days the temperatures in the 40's. we will turn colder later in the week but as we extend to the first full week of february this is what we see. the temperatures are warming up to 50 wednesday and thursday. i should point out we are keeping eyes wide open for sunday, sunday evening. the possibility of a wintry mix. slow, the newsroom. jonathan: today police identified three people shot and killed inside a bowie restaurant. richard reeve is live outside the blue sunday bar where police say they are now investigating a case of workplace violence. richard? richard: jonathan, that is right. you can see more people are arriving to pay tribute to the three people who lost lives here. police call it a simmering dispute between the bar tender and the owners. a family friend told us she believed that the bar tender was told recently he was losing his job. outside the blue sunday bar and grill, this growing memorial. >> there is a lot of crying happening. a lot of richard: 18-year-old madsen is a hostess here. she knew both the victim and the gunman at the close knit establishment. >> nobody can believe it. the nicest people in the world do something that isn't expected. >> bowie city police along with fire and e.m.s. riverring here around 2:15 sunday morning. investigators say an investor of the restaurant while remotely accessing the indoor surveillance system saw several unconscious people inside. arriving officers found the bodies of 46-year-old sherwood morgan, the general manager, and 27-year-old jin chen, a co-owner. >> this was an ongoing dispute between the suspect in this and management. that erupted in violence. richard: a third victim 28-year-old xue zou, another co-owner without -- was fatally wound and pronounced dead at the hospital. the surveillance showed "clear video of the shooting" and the gunman, karlief moye shown here in this linkedin picture. >> it's ongoing individual, again our best information is he served as a bar tender. >> i have never been that angry at anyone in my life i'd want to hurt them. richard: a lot of folks still gathering here. police say moye is in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds. he shot himself when police closed in on him arriving at his house in silver springs. but he does face likely charges including murder, assault and other protests. the white house continues to defend president trump's immigration crackdown. the executive order was signed on friday. it puts a four-month ban on all refugees entering the united states. it also includes three month entry ban from seven majority muslim we will get an update on the forecast in a few minutes. jonathan: and the national zoo is looking for help to find this bobcat. ollie escaped from her enclosure this morning. if you see her, don't try to catch her. call 911 or the zoo and they will come try to grab her. ollie has at least one twitter handle. she's busy. alison: of course. in norfolk, officials at the virginia zoo there think that sunny is not on the zoo property at all. she was last seen on her enclosure on monday. they are using dogs to try to track her scent and geo thermal cameras to find sign of her. jonathan: maybe they used social media to coordinate this. alison: to meet up. jonathan: right. the only pair of giant been a a -- giant pandas have flown the hoop. but t they have been moved to begin a life without mom. the breeder started to wean the triplets at 2 years old and live independently from the mother. in two more years they will be airline grounded domestic flights on sundays for what the f.a.a. called automation issues. delta says the issue has been resolt offed but -- resolved but the airline had to cancel another 110 flights today and the airline may have to cancel more in the evening so check into it. last sunday united had to ground the domestic flights for another technical issue. no word tonight if those two incidents brad: yeah, that's exactly right. this is the b.p. station at the corner of pennsylvania avenue and walters lane. inside the store area of the gas station in person, a male has been shot dead. the body is still inside. we do know the victim of the shooting is not a gas station not a clerk or a mechanic. and we don't know if it was a customer or result of a robbery. none of that is known of yet. homicide detectives and officers are arriving on scene to get the investigation underway. anyone with information is asked to give them an update as the investigation is underway. jonathan: they have filed criminal charges in connection with the 2015 paris attacks. belgians released him in the custody for the day so he would be charged. he was dubbed the man in the hat. after security cameras recorded him with the brussels airport bombers just last march. alison: in the last 15 minutes a suspect in last night's deadly shooting at a mosque in quebec charged with six counts of murder. alexandre bissonnette surrendered. he opened fire killing six people. the press say bissonnette made derogatory comments against immigrants and women on social media. tonight five worshipers are in the hospital. jonathan: that attack has local mosques examing their own security measures in place. kevin lewis is joining us live in northwest washington at a mosque that just received federal funding to help in that effort. kevin, tell us about that. kevin: hi, jonathan. today alone there are 3.3 million muslims living in the u.s. that is half of the population of this d.c. metro area. this evening, a large percentage of them feel they are under siege. at the mosque in northwest, imam sharif comforts his con congregant shaken by president trump's executive orders and the attacks in quebec. >> we are seeing things that have never happened before in the history of the country. kevin: today, m.p.d. and the d.c. mayor's office visited all nine islamic centers across the district, exchanging notes and providing emotional support. >> we are some place else. some place we should never be. >> also today, the county president casting blame on trump for a recent swell of hate crimes and violence nationwide. >> there is a correlation here. this is not happening in vacuum. kevin: imam is grateful for the grant days before obama left the oval office. it will be used to upgrade security cameras, place metal bars on windows and hire private security in an effort to prevent another senseless attack. >> this nation's pilgrims were fleeing religious persecution. here we have a president attacking just that. while this mosque has not received any traditional threats as of late, many members explain they are now fearful. just walking down the street. we are live in northwest, i'm kevin lewis, abc7 news. alison: thank you. the man accused of killing five people and injuring six others during the florida airport shooting spree pleaded not guilty today. the f.b.i. says 26-year-old esteban santiago flew from anchorage, alaska, to fort lauderdale with a handgun in his checked luggage. once he landed he loaded the gun and opened fire in the baggage claim area. if convicted he could get the death penalty. jonathan: get a check of the situation on the roads. trenice bishop is on traffic watch tonight. hey, trenice. trenice: hi, j this evening we are certainly finding more delays and a couple new incidents. we will start with a look at the big picture of the capital beltway. there are delays on the inner and the outer loops near the 270 corridor. it's slow for folks on the outer loop through prince george's county as you make your way about this evening. elsewhere let's go to a live look at 66. actually picking up decent delays eastbound between the connector road and fairfax drive but here is the westbound delay finding the heaviest volume from nutley to 123. stop and go between the parkway and the car rest area. 395, hello headlights. southbound on the left side of the screen making the slow trip from the pentagon to duke street. i-95, the headlights are doing something kind of cool i think. they look like they are flashing along the way as you make your way toward the occoquan. it's slow most of the way from the fairfax county parkway to the prince william parkway but no reports of an accident. i'll send it to doug. it looks like we may have some snow in the forecast, maybe for doug: there is a possibility maybe sunday afternoon or evening something wintry. but a better chance tomorrow morning, mainly north of town. a beautiful image of some of the snow across southern maryland today. just fluffy stuff. it sticks to tree limbs and grass. melted off but looks good. jay in maryland sent it to burst.com/wjla. doppler radar, clean sweep. that was loaded with stuff earlier. now it's just a matter of waiting to see what will happen left. clear skies. 9:00 should be 32 and clear. but shortly thereafter the clouds increase from the north and west. why?
