kenneth: incredible news conference. president trump worked to quiet critics who said he didn't want to take kes on a number of controversy -- take questions on a number of controversies. he tried to work on and put to rest any stories about turmoil in his administration, leaking information to the media. president trump's message to the people. president trump: i don't think there has ever been a president elected elected in sht period of time has done what we've done. kenneth: he covered a wide range of topics from executive orders to fulfilling campaign promises. in a surprise move, he took questions for nearly 90 minutes tackling everything from russia to stories of administration chaos. president trump: there are zero chaos. this is a fine-tuned machine. kenneth: he delivered a blistering attack on the heedia pushing back against the report that the intelligence community is investigating contacts between the associates and russia during the campaign. president trump: i own nothing in russia. i have no loans in russia. i don't have deals in russia. kenneth: on one hand he called it fake news but on the other he is declaring war on those leaking information. president trump: the news is fake. >> if classified information is being leaked that is criminal. kenneth: a bipartisan group of senators is calling for the investigation in the trump team's contact with russia. >> we don't know all the facts but we know something is rotten in the state of denmark. kenneth: on the leaks the president said he called the justice department to investigate. the former director of international intelligence said that leaks need to be investigated, yes. but they shouldn't be done in a manner that is disparaging or destructive to the entire intelligence community. to get reaction online to president's news conference let's head to lindsey mastis in the studio. lindsey: thank you. is it mainly democratic member of congress using social media to criticize trump's news conference today. look, a representtive writes -- alison: all right. thank you very much. two prince george's officers charged with crimes now. two separating debits and they are unrelated -- separate incidents and they are understand related. violence and prostitution are part of the headlines. the story breaking by our maryland bureau chief brad bell who is in palmer park. the officers, the brothers in blue are the ones that spoke up about the behavior, at least in one of these cases? brad: yeah. well, in both of the cases. that is one of the things they are talking about today. the indictments happened this afternoon. we are just getting the full information here at police headquarters. but this is what we can tell you. in one of the cases an officer assigned to antiprostitution squad is accused of using the services of the prostitute in the course of his working hours. additionally he is accused of multiple occasions telling prostitutes the squad was working in the area so the prostitute could avoid arrest. the other is a assault, simple brutaliation. that he approached a homeless woman and smacked her in the face. in both cases the reports were made by fellow officers. >> i think this shows that because you had two officers who knew it was wrong and reported it. they could have looked the other way, they did not. they did the right thing. that is important for us to make sure people understand that. brad: so that is a spokesperson for the prince george's county states attorney wanting the community to understand they are, in fact, policing the officers. when will tell you more about the allegations and also have the response from the police department, itself. in palmer park, brad bell, abc7 news. michelle: breaking right now, d.c. health officials confirm two pregnant women contracted cd the zika virus that causes microcephaly. sam ford has breaking details. sam in sam: the director of the -- sam? [chanting] stephen: many of the chants came in spanish, there were plenty of english speakers joini >> i join the privileges and rights that -- i enjoy the privileges and rights that everybody is entitled to and i am here to support the community. stephen: back live now. you can see the last of the marchers making their way down pennsylvania avenue, away from the white house. there are a number of people who are immigrants but of those assembled were the children of immigrants. both young and adult children as well. for another look at the story, let's send it to my colleague cheryl conner who is outside the beltway up in frederick. cheryl? cheryl: yeah, we are at sardis in frederick. this is a restaurant that closed today. you can see the chairs on top of tables here. we learned today, though, this is not the norm outside of the beltway. the kitchen is still hot, the mexican dishes are prepared on the day without immigrants in a restaurant run completely by immigrants. >> we don't wk cheryl: manager rolando says his boss wanted to open. >> we follow rules. like my boss tell me you need to work today, i have to be here on time. cheryl: we talked to other immigrant-run restaurants outside the beltway that couldn't afford to shut down for a day. but sardis has a sign on the door saying they will reopen tomorrow. >> we are coming to work. cheryl: they are closed for a day without immigrants and some customers were caught off-guard. >> i guess they had their own opinion. i have my own opinions. cheryl: we spoke to a landscape company. some employees decided to not come in today. the owner there tells me they also will not get paid. live in frederick, cheryl conner, abc7 news. jonathan: well, we now know when the senate will get a chance to question supreme court nominee judge neil gorsuch. the judiciary committee will begin confirmation hearings march 20, a little more than one month from 4:00, a popular stopper has been recalled. jonathan: also next, a bedbug problem in the district. michelle: board game staple gone forever. also this -- >> they were all over the place. michelle: a renegade race club on the beltway. another driver's harrowing account after a "7 on your side" i-team investigation. doug: the cold gusty winds reminded us today it's still the middle of february, as did the snowshowers and flurries from the white house earlier. any more flakes in the future? we'll let jonathan: now a followup to a "7 on your side" i-team exclusive. earlier this month, investigative reporter scott taylor exposed renegade car racing club. you can see them racing in and out of traffic at high speeds. very dangerous. since the story broke we have been flooded with tips and another driver coming forward hoping to shut them down and get all off the road. scott: the i-team tracked down a second witness who says he saw the beltway "fast and furious" roaring down i-495. >> they all had their flashers on. >> that's what we saw in the video. >> they were driving recklessly. it looked like they were racing. scott: earlier this month we drove you to the middle of the dangerous group of ten drivers caught on video, speeding, driving way too close. all with their flashers on. >> it was frightening. scott: allen didn't want to use his real first name traveling with the wife and children videotaped the dangerous group last october. on i-495. >> a couple of them cut me off and they were all over the place. scott: one of the driver stops on an exit ramp on traffic and waves his buddy by. the same craziness seen by the second witness in march on beltway near fedex field. >> they pulled off and were both sides of the commit and waving people on. scott: again, exactly what we saw in the video. >> right. scott: with your help we discovered some of the name of the drivers we saw in the video. we tracked every one of them down and they all deny being part of the beltway fast and furious. charles who also wants to remain anonymous says moments after the group pulled away out of his sight, a three-car accident occurred up ahead of them. >> i and i saw three or four cars that had been pretty banged up. none of those cars were the ones that went by. scott: remember, the maryland state police have already seen the video. captain picket says it appears laws are being broken but police need witnesses to come forward to press charges. that is exactly what our second witness is doing. >> they are going to end up killing somebody if they keep driving that way. and i want to prevent that. scott: if prosecuted, none of the drivers face jailtime. illegal street racing in maryland carries $290 ticket if caught and five points off your driver's license. because you the viewer helped us expose these dudes, hopefully they have learned their lesson and they won't be racing on the beltway anymore. scott thuman, abc7 news. alison: you can watch this story and scott's original i-team investigation online at wjla.com.
