When you woke up, the snow was mostly clear from the roads but really created beautiful scenes. Look at this one. Its the memorial corps memorial in arlington. With the snow melting away we look to other chances of wintry weather. Stormwatch7s chief meteorologist doug hill has the forecast. Doug, there is a close eye on tomorrow mornings commute, right . Doug the difference this morning the ground level temperatures were warm and the roads had been treated. We think tomorrow morning the temperatures will probably be in the mid20s in many areas. We have another little disturbance coming in across the great lakes. It looks like this will stay to the north. We think the best chance for dusting to a light coating is north of the area. No advisories in effect but the key is cold temperatures there. Could be icy spots in the areas that get the snow developed quickly in the morning commute hours. That is something we are concerned. With we had snowshowers around the area on good part of t day. 20 miles east here there is a snowshower going through. That is the story longer. Generally clear tonight and the clouds increase late tonight with the lows in the 20s. We keep an eye on the future cast that tracks in tonight. We will see how much will hold together. The potential is there for enough light snow or dusting with the cold temperatures early in the morning to cause slick spots. A lot more to share about you with that and a look at the next seven days comes up. Q . Q now a story developing in canada. A suspect is in custody after six people were shot and killed while praying at a mosque last night. Five people were critically injured in the attack and 12 others suffered minor injuries. Police say a gunman came in the Quebec Islamic Culture Centre during the evening prayer and opened fire. Two men were arrested after the shooting but Police Say One of them is we take care together as a brother. We love each other. Q Canadian Police are treating the attack as an act of terrorism. They say they dont believe there are other suspects but investigators are working to make sure that is, in fact, the case. Alison back here at homenow, we have an update in the Deonte Carraway case. A major child porn and sex abuse investigation. As abc7 reported last week, carraway was expected to plead guilty in court today. And he did. Our Maryland Bureau chief brad bell is in greenbelt. Brad, this is certainly far from over. Brad no, its not over. We have been covering this every step of the way since the story broke last february. This is a big day in federal court. This is the plea agreement, the statement of facts. On the back, Deonte Carraways did these terrible crimes. The Deonte Carraway case is one of the most notorious child porn and abuse cases in the regions history. Working first as a teachers aide, then as a volunteer at judge Sylvania Elementary School in glenarden. Carraway victimized nearly two dozen boys and girls from 9 to 11, forcing them to appear with him and each other in pornographic videos he recorded on his cell phones. Today in court, a judge asked carraway if he is guilty and he replied in a voice sounding almost cheerful yes, maam. The consequence of this plea today is that those children will not be required to testify in federal court. They can go on with their recovers. Brad u. S. Attorney explaining even with making a deal with prosecutors to avoid trial the 23yearold carraway faces a minimum of 60 years in prison behind bars. A group of parents of victims attended todays arraignment in federal court in greenbelt. The parents of abused children we are protecting their identities. One told us she was satisfied. The u. S. Attorney says one of those parents likely saved many more children by spotting a lurid photo on his 9yearolds phone. Its critical for parents to know who your children are spending time with. Both the adults about the kids that they are spending time with. They may be in school, or in a place you believe is a safe place but you still need to know who they are spending their time with. Brad so about the parents in court. It was very difficult for them to hear the charges red. One parent actually got up and left to compose himself. Then he came back in. Now those actual parents we are protecting their identity. They did not speak to us publicly but we have spoken to a grand mother and a parent from judge Sylvania Elementary School who were here to will share with you their thoughts. They are getting some relief but they are still very angry. In greenbelt, brad bell, abc7 news. Alison thank you very much. Richard yeah, alison. You can see behind me here this growing memorial with messages, you will live forever in our hearts, we love you. Police called this a pointless crime. The killing of the three people as you said a workplace dispute th simmers for quite some time simmering for quite some time. Bowie police riving here at 2 15 sunday morning and investigators say a person with a financial stake in the restaurant had remotely accessed the Indoor SurveySurveillance System and several unconscious people inside. The officers found the body of 46yearold Sherwood Morgan the general manager and 27yearold jin chen a coowner. A third victim 28yearold xue zou was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say the surveillance gear showed them clear video of the shooting and the accused gunman 40yearold karlief moye who worked here as a bartender, shown here in the lincoln picture. Officers closed on moyes Silver Spring home later that morning. He ran in nearby woods and shot himself twice. If you are having a dispute over whatever you may be having a dispute over, for an individual to then arm themselves and people, that is senseless violence and its worrisome. Richard moye is now in the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries awaiting charges. Coming up at 5 00, very emotional discussion with the young people who worked with all of these folks involved. Trenice bishop is here in the Traffic Center with a look at the commute. Hi, there. Trenice i could use an extra cup of joe this afternoon if youre sitting in delays or leaving out this afternoon. Look at the big map now. We have delays on the beltway for sure. But lets start with 270 for folks trying to make the climb from gaithersburg to part of georgetown. Slow here at clarksburg at 121. The regular slowdown trying to make it toward the truck scales and beyond in place this afternoon. On the beltway we can take a look at the actual delays for you. Heavy in the usual spots on the inner and the outer loops through part of bethesda. This is the inner and the outer loop here near river river to georgetown pike. The inner loop delays take you from old georgetown road to university boulevard. 66 is also beginning to slow for the ride back toward the centreville area. Westbound delays from 495 to just past 123. Sluggish here at georgetown road. You can see the trek through fairfax county. No reported issues for you on 395 but delays for sure southbound from king street to little river turnpike. Q, alison, back to you both. Q all right. You know what . Chances are you are at home now and its cold outside. Maybe you are trying to think of warm spots on this wintry weather. But how about heading down south to florida . Palm trees . Sounds good to me. Alison sounds good. Is it that time of year for spring training and this morning the nationals packed up their equipment to head down to the new spring home which is in west palm beach. And Suzanne Kennedy was at nats park. Suzanne this is a day that Washington Nationals fans have had their sights set on since october when the 2016 season came to a close. It is truck day. A sure sign corner. This morning they tacked items on to a 53foot tractor trailer which will head to florida later today. This will be the first year they will be having spring training at the ballpark of the palm beaches. The team will bring down thousands of pounds of gear, uniforms and equipment including nearly 17,000 baseballs and 600 bats. All to be used in the upcoming season. That is where as you can see here virginia senator tim kaine, of course, former democratic Vice President ial nominee is addressing the group out there protesting the immigration executive order. If youd like to his full statements you can tune in to our sister station newschannel8. Q lets talk weather. Because it is cold outside. We just talked about the nationals heading south. Doug we had an interesting day. We went from sunshine to now isers and the clear blue skies. Snowshowers are settling down but we have a new chance north of the city tomorrow morning for snow. With colder temperatures that means the slick spots are possible. This morning the measurable snow is south of washington. Tomorrow morning the chances it will be north of washington. You need a scorecard and a note pad to keep up with all of this, folks. A quick review of the totals we got. In delmarva, one of in dale city, one of the higher amounts. 2. 6 inches this morning. 2. 5 on the other side of the potomac across from dale city. The inch goes down from there. 1. 1 inches at if zoo. Maybe thats what ollie want to make a break for it. Huntingtown county 1. 0 as well. We have had snowow and mostly moving south and east. That should slow down because skies are clearing but tomorrow morning it starts over again. There is an area of low pressure north of minneapolis. You can see the band of snow. That is the one that will expand in our direction. This is a trough of low pressure. You know what is inside the trough of low pressure . A warm front. The warm front is going to come here through the midday. We are getting close to 50 degrees tomorrow afternoon when the front goes through. But before then, that is when we have the opportunity especially in the morning 5 00 to 7 00, 5 00 to 8 00, Something Like that of snow coming through. On the shortterm forecast on the future cast you see the band is going to swing. Most of the energy will stay north of town. Thats why we think the best chance of any patchy slippery spots, snow glazing the road or dusting will probably be more north of town than anywhere else. There are no advisories in effect. I wont rule it out being issued later tonight but for now that is the story. We see the clouds roll back in. 24 to 30 degrees overnight. Plenty cold. The the track of this thing. Moving during the day tomorrow and eventually to the northeast as the winds increase from the south. That will warm us up. Another cold front through for the day on wednesday. All right. Give you a quick look at things going forward. That is going to include in the extended outlook temperatures heading back down again after a nice little warmup. Close to 40 degrees. Reminder groundhog day coming up in a couple of days. Im so excited as we get in the weekend another chance of snow or mix on sunday and then we settle down with another warmup middle of next week.
