Reporter hurricane odile barreled into Cabo San Lucas with winds up to 125 miles per hour. Life threatening wind and rain. Many american tourists were stranded. A little north of there, a dozen major wildfires are burning across california. Its driven thousands of people from their homes. The latest fire erupted yesterday in the tiny northern town of weed near mt. Shasta. It quickly destroyed or damaged 100 homes and burned a church to the ground. Powerful winds fanned those flames forcing the evacuation of at least two schools and shut down the main freeway between california and oregon. Farther south, dozens of homes were derureduced to ashes near yosemite. I screamed jesus help me because it was pretty scary. And the smoke was pretty bad. It was the heat.
