ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. president obama just wrapped up the annual wreathlaying at the tomb of the unknown soldier. the solemn reminder about the true meaning of this holiday. jeanette: president obama delivered his remarks at the arlington national cemetery. a prelude by the u.s. marine band began at 10:30. the wreathlaying ceremony came a half hour later. the president also hosted a breakfast in honor of our fallen heroes with their loved ones in attendance. we talked to love ond ones. take a look at what one son of a vietnam veteran said. >> the floodgates opened. ever since then, this has had a near mystical part of my heart. i wanted to come back and pay the respects to all the men and women who have passed. president obama: each simple mark arranged in military held this morning at the world war ii memorial, surviving veterans help placed reeves at the memorial -- wreaths at the memorial, which honors all of those who gave their lives. visitors are invited to ring the bell as a tribute to america's troops and veterans. crowds are starting to gather for the 10th annual national memorial day parade, which kicks off in northwest washington in just about two hours. jeff: first and foremost, constitution avenue is closed between sixth and 17th -- 6th and 17th. the prep is going. we have seen the seats and risers going up. being in the shade is a priority for a lot of people. this is the 10th anniversary of the memorial day parade. it started as a small event and it has grown considerably into what it is today. it is put on by the american veteran center and will feature big-name actors. gary's and ease -- gary sinise. joe montagna. the parade also marks the 70th anniversary of the end of world war ii and dozens of world war ii veterans will service the grand marshals. >> it is history. it is the commemoration of that history. we need to remember our past, honor our present, and honor our fallen heroes. that is what today is all about. jeff: no question about that. it is just a beautiful day out here. there will be serious traffic issues if you are coming to downtown washington. constitution is closed between 6tha and 17th. a lot of congestion, but it is sure to be another fantastic grade for memorial day. jeff goldberg, abc 7 news. jummy: a man has been charged for a big destruction moments before the memorial day celebrations. the bomb squad detonated a pressure cooker found outside the u.s. capitol building. police blocked streets to investigate, but the concert went on just as planned. firefighters are investigating the explosion that destroyed a prince george's county building overnight. it happened around 11:00 on old baltimore pike in beltsville. john gonzalez is in beltsville with what happened. john: police of been protecting this area, keeping folks away. employees showed up, but they were turned around and told to take the rest of the day off because they're building is now condemned. fire investigators taking a close look at what appears to be a building explosion on old baltimore pike in beltsville at the eaton company. no injuries reported. it does not appear there was ever a fire. the fire chief says there was some sort of a gas explosion. it looks like it back wall and some of the roof has collapsed. the fire department says there was failure of's arm -- of some kind involving argon tanks. no one was in sign at the area -- inside at the time. >> i was in the bedroom. we thought it was in the house. i thought it was downstairs. >> i made a joke. i said, maybe it was an earthquake. john: eaton designs and manufactures a variety of products. including products that were used in the recent curiosity rover mission to mars. it is unclear if any of the products which damage or casualties after a strong earthquake shook japan's capital. the 55 magnitude quake had its epicenter -- 5.5 magnitude quake had its epicenter north of tokyo. nothing unusual was observed at any nuclear plants, including the one that went into multiple meltdowns in march 2011. a little closer to home, police and cleveland are bracing for more protests this noon. police arrested 70 demonstrators over the weekend after a judge cleared a cleveland police officer of manslaughter in the shooting death of a black couple , timothy russell and melissa williams. investigators say the officer fired 15 shots into the hood of their car. they were unarmed at the time. this comes as the city awaits a decision on the shooting death of 12 year old tamir rice, who was holding a toy gun when he was shot and killed by police in 2014. a couple missing for two weeks in the california wilderness have been found. the 68-year-old woman was found dehydrated and alive. her husband died. they were discovered in a remote area on an indian reservation. they were looking for a shortcut to their son's home when i gotlost and stuck on a rugged rose -- road. anne meara has died. she was the mother of ben stiller and wife of jerry stiller. she appeared on dozens of films and tv shows. she was 85 years old. coming up the u.s. getting blowback following controversial comments by u.s. responding to the harsh words from the u.s. defense secretary over the weekend. he said the iraqi forces lacked the will to fight for the battle -- during the battle for ramadi. karen travers has more on the increasingly tense situation. karen: isis continues its advance in iraq. now, a war of words has erupted between u.s. and iraqi officials. yesterday, some unusually harsh and candid remarks from u.s. defense secretary ash carter. >> the iraqi forces showed no will to fight. they were not outnumbered. they vastly outnumber the opposing force. terran: carter and other officials have accused iraqi forces of bailing ---- karen: carter and other officials have accused iraqi forces of bailing on ramadi and leaving behind arms and humvees to be taken by the enemy. >> we can give them safety record is under scrutiny after a massive tanker fire in michigan. there it is right there. this massive tanker shut down i- 75. 9000 gallons of unleaded gas burnt after that crash. the company has seven maintenance violations since 2009. the nation's capital is one of the worst cities for drivers. boston takes the top spot according to nerd wallet. the company analyzed the cities. the district comes in second. drivers waste the most time in delays. los angeles, miami, and chicago round out the top five. a weekend drowning is drawing attention to dangerous rip currents. there were more than 130 rescues and one florida county alone. one swimmer drowned at daytona beach in front of an unguarded lifeguard tower. look for a change in watercolor or a line of foam or seaweed to spot a rip current. the best thing to do a swim along with it. alex: you cannot fight it. you just after let it take you swim out of it parallel to the shore. i am well-versed in rip currents. i have been touch warmer conditions and a touch more humid conditions. heading to the bay, there is a small craft advisory because of the wind. waves around two feet. beautiful on the coast. if you are on a small craft take precautions. 86 across the entire mid-atlantic. into the midwest, back into the 50's and 60's and that is behind a frontal boundary. that will not get here anytime soon. we are looking at the bermuda high that is pumping in the southerly winds. storms throughout tennessee and the mississippi valley, they will be held at bay today. we are expecting them to stay to the west today. they will get a little closer tomorrow. 7:00 tomorrow morning, still plenty of sunshine. we will be warm and humid. the showers and storms are beginnross the mountains. some of those are drifting toward the d.c. area. that will be the case over the next seven days. we are looking at high heat, high humidity, and an increasing transfer storms. we are looking at wednesday, thursday, friday, all the way into the weekend. temperatures up around 90 degrees on wednesday. that is going to be the highest day of the week. temperatures hanging into the upper 80's thursday and friday, even into the weekend. unfortunately, we do have the storm threat as well, throughout the next work week. jummy: it is kind of early for 90's.
