In 2004 and most recently has been a Council Member since 2007 and this afternoon, she is now the citys seventh elected mayor in modern history. The second female to hold the post here in the district of columbia. The youngest of six children stood with her parents on stage. And outgoing mayor vincent gray who made it official with the passing of the city seal. Its a new day in washington. A fresh start for all of our home. Another note in the district today, the first elected attorney general also took the oath of office. He told the crowd hell be directly accountable to the citizens of the district. The attorney general was previously an appointed position but voters decided in a referendum to make it an elected office. Senator reid was working out of his home when a piece of equipment he was using broke causing him to fall. He is said to have broke a number of ribs and bones in his face. Its a major clue in understanding what happened to airasia flight 8501. Where were the passengers who then recovered sitting. If they were all sitting in the back and most of these bodies are intact it would tell us or suggest to us that maybe the tail section came off. Recovery teams are working around the clock battling against monsoon rains to find pieces of the wreckage like these window panels. While the search continues for those black boxes.
