the full investigation. >> tonight, we are learning more about the connecticut woman shot and killed by police near capitol hill. court documents reveal items police found last week during the search of marion carry's lockbox in the car. it was holding a passport, foreign currency, and a connecticut drivers license. it also had social security cards for her and her daughter. investigators have not revealed the significance of those items. >> a police chase along bw parkway. when it was over, tebow teenagers were in custody and they are an officer was sent to the hospital dasch two teenagers of a local martial arts community stand accused. >> since we brought you the story back on new year's eve, this has caused quite a bit of uproar. today in court, the only thing both sides could agree on was that there was a lot of alcohol involved on new year's eve. 35secutors argued that on a minute tape, what you see is a crime that went on and on and on. but then the defense came on and said it was consensual. are onujitsu fighters trial for their lives after a new year's eve party ended with a young female fighter accusing them of vicious rate. the event was caught on surveillance video inside a parking garage next to saint matthews catholic church northwest. all three are connected to the world renown martial arts studio in camp springs. inlace or as it was said court, no sexual relationships are allowed between fighters. but that night, which began with a party at a downtown nightclub, ended prosecutors alleged, with the underaged girlfriend drunk. the parking garage video shutdown. president obama spoke at a white house conference this afternoon. he said he's willing to negotiate with republicans on their priorities, but not under the threat of economic chaos. house speaker john boehner says president is the -- is seeking surrender oning the part of republicans. a couplefficials say and their teenage son were sleeping when a fire started. all three have died. the cause is under investigation. say a off-orities duty police officer shot a suspect who was attempting to rob her. the suspect was shot in the abdomen and is -- and is expected to survive. the officer was not hurt. >> the government shutdown is affecting a number of businesses from hotels to restaurants. we will have a look at that and more. the city has done a pretty good job of getting a lot of hail to the redskins as part of that tradition. to recognize that different people have different perspectives, and clearly that is true here. the redskinst in and i'm confident that they are sensitive to their fans, to the views of the people that are not only their fans, but not their fans. they did speak with reporters briefly after their meetings. when asked about the redskins come i simply said all we focus on is our game with dallas sunday night. >> up next, going after a would- be robber. his weapon of choice? a machete. don't fill the meter and you get one of these. what if it is a mistake? >> tonight, new developments in the case of the nine-year-old boy who went to las vegas without a ticket. his story of stealing cars and sneaking into a waterpark. it was revealed that the boy's left him at minneapolis airport, and there is an investigation as to whether she helped him get on that plane. the prosecutor said the boys too young to be charged with a crime. officials are still investigating the security breach. a shop owner turned the tables on a would-be robber and it's all caught on surveillance video. he pulled out a machete on a robber that had a gun. he chased him out of the store and all the way across the parking lot. the video shows the robber actually fired a shot that newly hit the clerk in the head. but he's there to tell the tale. i would not have expected a knife much less a machete. how does the dmv handle challenges to ticket? >> it left breast and and officials questioning how fair the process really is. -- it left residents and officials questioning how fair the process really is. the law would like to see the dmv give him people more time to challenge a ticket, whether they do it here at the municipal center in person or online. also, for the dmv respond to challenges faster. if you want faster response, that will require more staff, they say. do not want the government to issue a ticket to someone who is -- who should not get a ticket. comes to challenging a ticket in d.c., it is guilty until proven innocent. >> are people being treated fairly? >> i have reviewed hundreds of these cases. in many cases, i believe they were not. >> i had to go to 7 on your side to get some help. >> joslyn johnson told d.c. councilmembers about her challenges with three tickets. $400 from her tax refund was seized. pending more still than a year later. and she's not alone. there were seven -- several people that received citations. one elderly woman got them for a car that was not hers. an arlington woman was ticketed for parking illegally. >> we do not have a lot that we can say and we have to go through so many hoops. -- promptedt count a council to call for today's hearing. >> people not only have to get a fair shake, but they have to believe they are getting one. 7 on your side give us the momentum to focus on this to make it better, so thank you. >> the dmv acknowledges there is wouldor improvement and support some kind of legislation. they do not necessarily like the bill that was started over the summer. let's say you get a ticket like we did today, nowhere on here does it direct you where to go online to find out what evidence you would need to provide to challenge this ticket if you felt it was given in error. she would like to see that added to the ticket so that could be
