the business district has left thousands of people without water. it closed -- it made a real miss of traffic on connecticut avenue. stephen tschida with the latest there. >> a real miss out here. this has turned into a complicated repair job. they're still going data. this broken main lies precariously close to a number of utility lines. this is a slow repair job. >> the main chattered early this morning. it sent water down connecticut ave. cruiser raced to get to the waterline and repair it but it proved a bigger job than expected. a few lines closed and traffic backed up. a lot of people on foot ran into roadblocks as well. security turn people away from office buildings and roads. frustrated workers headed two other locations. frantic efforts went on to try to drain flooded parking garages. no specifics, but a number of cars parked and -- overnight were inundated. >> probably significant damage from what i can tell. >> restaurants had to turn away a lot of customers. >> we had to close up. >> some customers were a bit confused. >> it seems like the street has sunk in an. i assume there is no traffic here. >> there is no water inside. that would make sense. >> you can see were continuing on the other side of connecticut ave. just one lane is open at this point. as long as the repair job will take, the best estimate is it will go well into this evening. stephen tschida, abc 7 news. >> let's go to greensboro, north carolina were john edwards is speaking. >> we live in a country that has the kind of system we have. i think those jurors were an example or for what juries are supposed to do in this country. the second thing i want to say a word about his responsibility. this is a about me. i want to make sure that everyone hears from me and from my voice that while i do not believe i did anything illegal or ever thought i was doing anything illegal, i did an awful, awful lot that was wrong the. there is nobody else responsible for my sense, and none of the people who came to court and testified are responsible. nobody working for the government is responsible. i am responsible. if i want to find the person who should be held accountable for my sense, i do not have to go any further than the mayor. it is me. it is me and me alone. the next thing i want to say a word about are the people i love. it has been an incredible experience for me to watch. my parents -- my dad just turned 80. my mom who is 78. drove up every day from north carolina to be with me and support me. i love them so much and they did such a wonderful job breezing me and my brother blake and my sister kathy, who i also love dearly. i also want to say a word about my own children. it cate who all of you have seen has been here every single day. she has been here no matter what. no matter how awful and painful a lot of the evidence was for her. evidence about her dad. evidence about her mom who she loves so, so dearly. she never wants flinched. she said, i love you. i will be there for you no matter what. i am so proud to have her with me through all this process. and then finally emma, who turned 14 recently. and jack who just turned 12, who i take care of every day. fed had not been able to see them quite as much. i see them in the morning. i get them off to school. then we get home at night and all eat supper together. i love them both so dearly. they are such an important part of every day of my life. finally my precious quinn. who i love more than any of you could never imagined. i am so close to and so grateful for. so grateful for quinn. i am grateful for all of my children including my son wade who lost years ago. this is the last thing i will say. i do not think god is through with me. i think he still believes there are some good things i can do. what ever happens with the legal stuff going forward what i am hopeful about is all the kids i have seen. in the poorest parts of this country and some of the poorest places in the world, that i can help them. in whatever way i am still capable of helping them. i want to dedicate my life to being the best dad eye candy and helping those kids who i think deserve help and who i hope i it has become the focus of an ongoing debate about breast- feeding in public especially in uniform. >> the woman on the left is more exposed-to breast feed her twin girls. at issue is whether these two women should be nursing in public wearing their uniforms. >> breast-feeding is breast- feeding. i do not think it matters whether in uniform. >> it was part of a series done for an air force support group. the photo evokes strong opinions some negative. people calling it a disgrace to the uniform. breast feeding is an off duty assignment in civilian clothes. practitioners and moms see it differently. >> it is a basic thing for a month to feed their baby. >> when i heard somebody say it was unprofessional, i thought ok. women in the military are allowed to feed themselves. why would it be unprofessional to feed their babies. >> whether are some policies about what they can do in uniform, the matter of breast- feeding has not been addressed. some do not understand the controversy. >> if it is normal to do that in public i think it is normal for them to do it. >> one of the women had this to say about the controversy. i am proud to be wearing a uniform while breast-feeding. i hope it encourages others to know they can whether they are active duty, civilians. >> the first privately owned space craft to visit the space station is back on earth. it crashed into these pacific ocean front will move through. as this moves eastward the cold front will be the surface mechanism plus a whole list of things happening in the atmosphere that will work together to produce several lines of heavy to severe thunderstorms, isolated tornadoes, hail. the greatest threats to in time will be between 5:00 and 10:00 in the urban corridor. we recognize it is a possibility but there is no way in advance to pick out of this geographic area to say there is a better chance in richmond or philadelphia. no way. when these cells form of we will have a better idea which areas will be under the gun for greater the fax. possible tornadoes hail, and flash flooding in some of the heavier sales. -- cells. early morning we will start with that isolated showers early. partly sunny and breezy. warm in help a growing obesity rates. grocery stores are exempted. >> in the long run i think it is a sensible measure that ideally would be nationwide. it will help people lead healthier lives. >> the idea grew criticism from groups like the new york beverage association and the national restaurant association. in a statement mcdonald's said, -- some new yorkers feel the same way. >> i do not believe he
